Ok so the crystal blue waters are out.. But the weather is supposed to be beautiful in Nome, Tx at the dz for sunday. Much better option I think than the Carribean. So if any of you guys are looking for a place to enjoy a nice sunday of jumping Nome is the place this weekend. Have always wanted to be a social butterfly but now I have the wind beneath my feet.

Just moved from Fort Walton Beach in May to Houston. If you are looking for a dz in Destin, the airport in FWB is half commercial/ and utilizes the military airstrip. Destin has a small airport off of Hwy 98 about halfway thru Destin before San Destin but I can't recall a dz. The military owns and operates the Eglin Reservation which covers alot of ground and it is restricted air/ground space and they can get rather nasty. I kept a current phone book and the closest dz I found there is in Elberta, AL #800-759-3483 Emerald Coast Skydiving Center. Give them a call they might know of a small dz north of Destin somewhere around Freeport or Defuniak Springs that is non published or something. They do alot of parasailing there but due to the military airspace stretching from outside of Navarre all the way through outside of Destin North and beachside of Hwy 98 the only places I could think of maybe inland... I had to call Mom and ask and she said she thought it was somewhere in the NASA complex as we were here with a Civil Air Patrol group touring NASA and Ellington. Could be worse, someone could have asked for change and I would have had to give them nipples and dimes in change today if the rain wouldn't have ruined the day... Because it was rather chilly outside....But by the end of the week I just might be on a nice warm carribean island St. Croix sunning on the beach if things go my way with work. After showing a tandem video from 1998 of me of course to all the guys and a few of management they really believed I am a bit out of the Norm but again that is why they hired me in 2005. I keep them entertained with my new and different ways to do something extreme adn different..Also have gotten a few people wanting to come out when we are in town and not working.... You are probably right. The weather is supposed to be really nice out on saturday and I am going to cook a big pot of Crawfish Etouffee and bring it to the DZ, you going to be able to make it?? I have been cooped up in the apt. waiting on the damn UPS man for 2 days now..It makes me stir crazy and I get way out of my little box.. See you saturday at the DZ. I did my first 2 SL which I think is about the same as IAD I tink? Trying to do them in 2's as I go along, the second one was a bit easier (less scared). But I came down on the first jump to the NOAA weather channel..lol.. Must have bumped the channel button on exiting and landed next door to the DZ in a wide open field.. Please..Don't let me fall off the strut. That would totally throw me for a loop until I heard that slider pop over my head.. I know they have to have one in the Houston area does anyone know where? I went to a tunnel as a teenager and remember there is one here just can't remember where and/or if it was public accessible. Here's one for you guys to gnaw on, the company I work for sends us in/out of Canada routinely to work. For those of us on the US side of the company, after returning from western Canada we are usually put thru the routine piss test. The Canadian side isn't, the UK division isn't only "We the people" get tested. Well just to say Kathleen I saw you land in Nome and I think you did quite well myself.. You got to see both of mine somewhat I think.. Although I landed off both times I had watched you land and learned from you and kept remembering Jeff's words, "Flare around 10' ". I might have landed off but at least it was soft and on my feet sort of. Being an EMT myself I personally would never treat anyone with disrespect while treating them. Whether it s from jumping out of an airplane (Which mind you has less injuries than the driving of an automobile) or other activities.. It was probably due to inexperience. Please don't hold it against all of us EMT's.
