  17. God, i had such a great weekend... I had to start the thread so - :10:0 Drove to Perris Friday night, got up early Saturday for load 1. Then I hooked up with Fritz and did 5 coaching jumps with him and Eli. And misc. other stuff. 9 jumps total. What an awesome day. The Flyboys definitely accelerate the learning curve!! Sunday was winded at Perris so I drove back to SF after getting my haircut by Dorise. She is a prettier, female version of Raymond. Just hanging out at the dz, cutting hair. She did a nice job. On the way back, I decided to try a new dz and stopped off at Madera. It is a small Cessna dz north of Fresno. I was greeted with open arms and made to feel at home immediately. Went up on the last load of the day and did a 2-way with a belly flyer. I flew on my back, him on his belly, it was pretty cool. Life is good... . chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. 18. OK, I have been jumping for about 2 years now and have been to 22 different dropzones. 22. It was fun. The boogie is at a casino next to the river. The landing area is small and on the side of a hill but no one had any serious problems with it. Slaton and the rest of Team Extreme did some pretty impressive demos and there was an area to swoop the river and land on the rocky beach. On one of the last loads of the boogie, they let anyone that wanted to try land on an island. That turned out to be a little challenging for most. There was a short van-ride to the airport from the hotel for each load and inexperienced jumpers could land at the airport. Flying over the river under canopy was fun (don't we all luv a whuffo audience) One guy did land in the water and got stuck in some reeds near the bank on the opposite side of the river. It took them a while to get the appropriate watercraft to fish him out. He was fine albeit a little embarrassed. The venue was good for your whuffo friends as rental boats and jet-skis were readily available. A few jumpers brought their own. All-in-all the turnout was a little light but it was a nice low-key boogie and if I can fit it into my schedule, I'll go again this year.
  23. 1 new dz:10:0 Went to Monterey for the weekend. Weather was great! The otter went up light all weekend to 15k. Jumped with young jumpers all weekend introducing them to the dark side. Saturday sunset load was a beach tour. Flew the otter down the beach seemed like 50 feet off the water with the door open, and we're all waving and making happy noises at everyone on the beach. Went from Marina all the way down past cannery row and over Pebble Beach. It was awesome. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
  24. alright, I confess, earlier this year, sitfly jump in Perris, track away on our backs, ProTrack batteries died, I lost altitude awareness, rolled over, ground was really, really big - I could see dirt clods, deployed my main just before my cypress deployed my reserve next to it. Landing 2 out sucks.. Anyway, I guess it was about 900 - 1,000' in the saddle around 500 wondering what went wrong.. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
  25. I did it on my last canopy - a Triathlon 220 loaded at 1.15 :1. Nice docile canopy even when I had a hard opening resulting in a broken a-b line between the 2nd and 3rd cells on the right side and the right side brake line. I played with my rear risers a bit and decided to keep it. It was touchy but controllable. I didn't realize at the time my a-b line was broken - I thought it was just the brake line. I was very lucky - there were light steady winds at Byron that day and I landed softly on my butt. The canopy collapsed upon attempting to flare. Be very careful when using your rear risers. If you use them like toggles, you can easily collapse your canopy. Also, make sure it is only your brake line that is broken... Just imagine if I made a harder control input up a couple of hundred feet.... I shudder just thinking about it... chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
