  1. 1. Gay marriage 2. people who still say NIGGER daily in the south 3. Single Payer Heath care for all is not a 'bad thing' 4. Government is out to get me - attitude in general. just to name a few, not in any particular order.
  2. that's fuckin' funny.... MAD sure has stood the test of time.
  3. I have no issue at all "not accepting" the certificates, even if the customer is disappointed. I am not 'screwing' the customer by doing that. SkyRide is though. I explain to customers what a rip-off they are, and I explain some of the ways they might get their money back and how to better protect themselves in the future when looking for a dropzone. I am always courteous and polite. I have even been called by SkyRida asking if I would take a customer "just this once" in the name of "good customer service" and "making the skydiving community look good". The answer is no. Actually what I said is "Sure, if you pay me the $199 that I normally get" THen their answer is NO, of course. SkyRide would then have to explain to that customer just how they got ripped off and what they are going to do about it. We updated our web page with 'warnings' for customers, much like Arizona did years ago. Even once, if you accept the certificate, you are helping to perpetuate the problem. They need to go away. They will not as long as you keep taking their certificates. You acceptance of the certificates ensures that Cary and Ben will continue to drive around in cars far nicer than you and I will ever afford.
  4. yes, it is too bad that this is not the plan that passed. I guessed that in earlier threads that they would pass some middle of the road fuck-up, and they did. there is still hope
  5. John did not 'pay for it' by serving in the military. serving in the military does not generate revenue. WE ALL PAID FOR IT, because he served in the military. And you know what? What is good for him is good for the rest of us. What is good for our Congress members, our President, all those filthy stinking rich CEO's is also good for the rest of us. Sick to fucking death of paying for health care for others? Well guess what - you already do. All we are saying is that if EVERYONE is going to pay for health care for a few, then EVERYONE can freaking well pay for health care for EVERYONE. I have no idea where the 'free healthcare' idea came from - 'cause it certainly never came from any of the proponents for single payer. Everyone already knew that it was going to cost money - everyone knew that everyone was going to have to be paid for by everybody. Only the people against it 'demonized' the proposition by making it so-called 'free', therefore making the users 'free-loaders' single payer, paid for by everyone, thorough the tax base. done deal.
  6. long gone, Mark crashed and died, his family did not really want to the see the DZ go one, although some tried, but it never got going again, not even as a UF club.
  7. certainly it would be unbelievable that someone's religious beliefs could drive such radical actions in real life...... http://gawker.com/5273665/tiller-murder-suspect-steeped-in-jesus+freakery-extremism http://atheism.about.com/library/FAQs/christian/blfaq_viol_index.htm http://www.nytimes.com/specials/bosnia/forums/digsell.html just to name a few. All the more reason I am an atheist
  8. Sabre is 9 cells, spectre and storm are 7 cells, so less fabric. as long as you stick to microline or similar, then it should fit OK want to know for sure? Pick up the phone, and call the manufacturer, Wings, with the model/serial # of your gear.
  9. and another $2B to CIT Bank that just vaporized last night.....great.....
  10. I beg to differ- this is NOT an interesting perspective at all.
  11. maybe that is one of the amendments that is needed. At what level does the state get to run itself? We also all believe in equal rights, but ideologically, that is not possible if the states have full reign to govern themselves. There obviously is some level of governance, laws, equalities and rights that are needed to be mandated at a federal level. Health care is a good example of something moving in that direction - just like public education, Medicare, etc.
  12. I ma sure that all the unemployed and homeless people are 'thrilled' by the news.....
  13. ditto on that - everyone forgets the stupid things that the 'founding fathers' forgot. All these groups that are organizing for the conservative lobby (which is fine) based on the "what the constitution was really supposed to be about" and "Getting the country back on track" bullshit. Slavery and women's voting are two perfect examples of where the Constitution failed. And what about the 25+ amendments SINCE the Constitution was written? If it was so fucking good back in 1776, then why are you driving a car? Why do you go to a store to buy meat when you could slaughter your own? The Constitution is a document that started the country, it, like every other piece of legislation, needs to be carefully monitored and updated as needed to keep with the times. Nothing is perfect and no rule applies for all of eternity. If that were the case, the Roman Empire would still be in power.
  14. no one is asking for incestual marriages be legalized
  15. funny when Bush put out huge tax breaks to buy massive gas-guzzlers back after 9/11, few complained, yet they sold tons and tons of new vehicles. Is this any different? Let me see, government puts up an incentive program to buy shit, which in one way or another gives you some of your money back. And guess what, people go out and buy shit. wow. Do we need it? I doubt it. Did we need it in 2001 (or whenever it was)? I doubt it. "The world is going to end when GM goes under" Heard it too many times already. GM WENT UNDER, and then came back out as a new company, I think in 3 weeks wasn't it? The world did not end. EVERYONE, including current & previous administrations could learn from this. But I doubt it.
  16. saw a huge 'mock' lever installed on a C130 once that had the same label on it
  17. They want to enter into the 'institution' for the SAME REASONS that man and woman want to enter into the 'institution'. Just because you don't understand it does not make it so. Maybe you should read more books or something on the subject. At least you are right about one thing - you ARE clearly homophobic.
  18. Since when is it our (or anyone's) job to enforce 'mother nature's laws'? Who gets to define what they are? We do not yet understand all of them,
  19. abnormality? How long does homosexuality have to exist to be considered 'normal'? Sophocles wrote plays in Greece in 400 BC that had homosexual characters. So I would argue that homosexuality IS 'normal', it has been around since the dawn of civilized man. So then your argument might be that it is 'abnormal' because it is a 'minority', which it is. But that means, blacks are 'abnormal', people with schizophrenia are 'abnormal', people who enjoy bird-watching are 'abnormal', simply because they exist in a minority withinin society. But they are not considered 'abnormal' except by a radical few in society and we openly accept them as part of 'normal everyday society. So what am I really saying? You argument is flawed, supported by no factual evidence and also fundamentally irrational. But you are entitled to your 'wrong' opinion.
  20. our congress-woman, Ginny Brown-Waite sent it out as an email and an 'announcement' from herself and congress. what partisan bullshit.... Nobel committee is not a 'king' or a 'state'. I wish politicians would stop the bullshit and get some fucking work done. And that is just what I told her when I wrote....
  21. their profits are only PART of the issue - not the whole issue. huge CEO salaries, inefficiencies compared to Medicare (their overhead is massive by comparison), and the bottom line, their pricing and contractual structure that constantly find new ways to DENY coverage for anyone except healthy people. These are some but not all of the reasons that Americans are fed up with private healthcare available to only 'part' of society. here we go again, another 300+post thread to say the same shit that has been said a hundred times before....... Medicare for all, end of discussion
  22. Feb 17, 2007, I opened the box on my new 20" iMac, my epiphany. I am never going back
  23. I'll let you in on a secret - corporations have been around for a very long time - through both conservative AND liberal court systems. they were invented for the very reason of protecting and isolating the owners, CEOs and pretty much everyone else.from that 'personal responsibility' that you advocate. You cannot make the corporations more personally responsible without removing the function of the 'corporation'
