  1. Sure, I should have stuck to the original topic. I was merely pointing out that the "inspectors" make dz visits.
  2. I remember the inspector at our dz not too long ago. Then again, may be they'll let the smaller ones slide. That's what you run into when you are part of a SRO.
  3. I often wonder why competitors get sponsorship while instructional staff don't. Who do students and newly licensed skydivers go to for recommendations? The local 4 way team? I discuss the equipment I use and point out the features and benefits. The only discount I receive is my staff discount from the store. Do the competitors promote the product more or do the instructors? Yes, it would be nice to get a t-shirt and/or hat and sticker once in a while.
  4. Wow! That was quick getting this on dz.com!
  5. If you are a non-rated coach and your dz allows it, whatever the student offers should be fine. If they are asking you, they probably would offer to pay your slot as well. I'm part of the instructional staff, and if they have already completed the jumps in Cat. G, I'd do it for slot only if they need additional work. After they get their license I do coach jumps for free and pay my own slot.

Dude, Didn't I tell you about a used Cypres??? Hell, your Infinity will be here soon without anything to put into it! (Other than my Spectre.) BTW, better not spend too much time on here as the Major may find out and make you do extra PT. Anyway, make sure Ginny practices the dive flow for Level 1. Late
  7. Reminds me of that commercial on Fox's 54321. The dude paddles out into the line up in kook attire and tries to fit in. Don't be that dude, Stylin.
  8. I have owned 4, and still jump 3 of them. Lightning, Spectre, Sabre2.
  9. I noticed you are in SoCal. Where did you do your tandem at? You might want to check out Skydive Elsinore.
  10. That's got to be beer!!!
  11. So does Perris still have the record for the all-way???
  12. Eric was also on the dot com formation record last Memo Day. Good vibes from your friends over the hill at 'Snore.
  13. Tod Hendricks. I think he's in Idaho for the summer.
  14. That's one of my work-up jumps prior to the AFFIRC. The student is Jay Stokes, the evaluator and course director. Although stressful, the training was a lot of fun.
  15. There are basic qualifications; 6 hours of freefall time, D license, and the AFF Proficiency Card completed. There is also a requirement to attend an AFF Instructor Rating Course in which there will be a couple of days of classroom instruction, then the practical portion which consists of 6 skydives; 2 are practice jumps with the evaluator, then you have to earn satisfactory scores on a Cat. C jump from the main & reserve side, and a Cat. D jump. You have 4 jumps to get 3 satisfactory jumps. The actual training leading to the course evaluation jumps were more difficult. Those prepared me for the course and for some real skydives. I've attached a photo that exhibits the level of difficulty one might encounter on such a skydive.
  16. Juan, I have velcro on my Spectre, and am velcroless on my Sabre2 and Lightning. I prefer the velcroless risers. Talk with SonnyChiba, et. al. They've been jumping without velcro risers for a very long time. As always, do more research before you decide.
  17. Hi G, We're actually using Smitty's place when available. He conducts the brief, etc. I swim/drink/eat. CB/Lisa's place is pretty cool, but he's busy with the Navy program in Otay. I think we're still able to have some naked water training and BBQs at CB's though! I'll check the schedule.
  18. I guess the only thing you had to be afraid of was a Shark and a LOBster in the water. Needless to say we had fun since we wore masks and got to see the chicks underwater! The safety swimmers always have the best jobs! Yep, missed the rest of the activities, but had to nurse the sharkmobile back home. Anyway, glad you had fun.
  19. I think that's why they were calling you, "Chaz" when you first showed up at 'Snore. Then there's that one dude who thought you were good, then found out you were the videodude for SakiBomb. BTW, your stories have scared me... I hope that I do not get a student like you. And where's my $20!
  20. Congrats, but you must get your "A" license first! Your bud Julia is doing pretty well now... close to 30 something I think. For me it is a feast or famine phase. But on a more pleasant note, it is the beginning of the weekend and I will be hooking up my new Sabre2 up and jumping it! A couple of hop-n-pops today, then some AFF tomorrow and Sunday will be way cool. Oh, yeah... and I will be bringing a case of Corona to the dz! Mr. Shark
