  1. The answer(s) to all your questions are, Yes. We'll be running 2 Porters, I believe. His canopy of choice is the Spectre 170, all provided by PD, and containers are Javelins from SunPath. And as previously mentioned, the event will take place at Skydive Elsinore, Veteran's Day 2003. I'll be running the recovery team. This will be a great event.
  2. Well, rumor has it you did sell her the Golden Gate bridge.
  3. I've noticed you've been on the sidelines lately... Dude, did you jump with Rich this weekend?

    Glue on Z1

Yeah, why are you? By a different helmet with a different problem.
  5. I concur. It's a great piece! This is often ignored, whether it's an AFF or Coach jump. Our attitude can influence the outcome of a student's progression.
  6. With the exception that their ovens are used for baking bread.
  7. Hey Mocha, Nice pics! Can I show them to my First Jump students?! Shark

Marissa, That was very beautiful; just like the girl who wrote it. xo Mark

Use one of the hot glue guns. You can probably find one at an arts & crafts store for under $5.
  10. Well, if the Marines blow us off, I'll make a jump with you. Heck, it's almost time for the Army-Navy game anyway!

    Pilots v. Jumpers

Negative, Ghostrider.... You can't stereotype. And also, you've never flown with me. As a pilot I thought jumpers were weird. Now as a skydiver, my pilot friends think I'm the weird one. If you look around a busy DZ you will find that there are more pilots who jump than you think. I agree with the other posts; get more jumps and get more flight time. Best of luck on both endeavors.
  12. Ed, You probably don't remember me, but I was one of your AFF students at Skydance back in the summer of '99. You were reserve side JM with Neal for my levels 2 & 3. Now, I am an AFF-I and part of the staff at Skydive Elsinore. Thanks for your help. Mark
  13. So who has earned a medal thus far? curtismelaniej won a silver in 4 way advanced, and B^2 and G^2 won the bronze in freestyle. Anyone else?
  14. Dude, Some may constitute this as torture and it may result in a permanent ban from this forum; even though you may be a greenie. But, then again, you may have over 10,000 hits on this and you can be considered a troll. BTW, I like the idea and use of it as a tool against those who violate dz rules, landing patterns, etc. Hey, if I used one as part of the landing police, would I be considered a red neck?
  15. You are probably correct, but I have seen a lot of tv commercials featuring skydiving.
  16. Dude, suck it up and FIDO.
  17. Could be that field elevation is ~1,350' or so...
  18. Easy there, Amazon... My former XO wasn't so lucky to be staying in your luxurious Hanoi Hilton. Daily room service consisted of spoiled rice and crow's foot, with maggots as condiments. They followed desert with a little rope torture. My grandfather also spent a few years as a POW. It was difficult for him to speak about his experience while he was still alive.
  19. You can always count on a negative comment regarding the USPA Coach program. The skygod attitude and selfish comments in this thread are typical. Congrats on your coach dive.
  20. Don't forget GT and GMG... Lots of celebratory beer this weekend!!!
  21. Written by AP WASHINGTON, Oct. 21 — American authorities investigating the killing of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in Pakistan now believe that he was slain by the hand of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks. AUTHORITIES, WHO HAD previously cast doubt on reports of Mohammed’s role, now have new information that leads them to believe he killed Pearl, said one U.S. official who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The official declined to detail the evidence. The U.S. acknowledgment of Mohammed’s suspected role was first reported in Tuesday’s editions of the Journal. Pearl, the Journal’s South Asia bureau chief, was abducted on Jan. 23, 2002, while working on a story on Islamic militants in Karachi. Four days later, the Journal and other media outlets received pictures of Pearl with a gun to his head. A group calling itself the National Movement for the Restoration of Pakistani Sovereignty claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and demanded the release from U.S. custody of suspected Taliban and al-Qaida fighters. In early February, Pakistani police identified Ahmad Omar Saeed Sheikh, an Islamic militant with a history of kidnapping foreigners, as a prime suspect in Pearl’s abduction. He was detained and said Pearl was dead. Other people with ties to the Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi have been arrested in connection with the killing. Investigators obtained videotapes apparently showing Pearl being killed as his throat was cut. It was unclear from the pictures who killed him. His body was found in May. Mohammed was captured in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, on March 1. The CIA is interrogating him at an undisclosed location. Since his detention, U.S. officials have connected him to more and more al-Qaida and associated operations over the last decade.
