Hmmm... Sounds like the problem is with your rig on opening rather than your helmet. I've had mine over a year and the only squawk I have is that the it is starting to delaminate around the "skirt" where the glue-bead is. Other than that, it is quite strong as evidenced by the mid-air I had last year. The other skydiver had his Factory Diver cracked just above the shield. On exit we (tried) took out a 9 way chunk in the form of a diamond. He was stairstepped on my right taking a leg grip. On exit I felt somebody "knee" me in the back of the head and I was seeing "stars." Although I was a little woosie, we built the round and turned the pieces. The funny thing was that I nailed the peas on landing. I walked over to Bryan and he said we knocked heads. Then he showed me the crack in the helmet. My Z1 only had a scratched sticker.

Chris, That's the thing about our community and little part of the world. We tend to drop the "labels," except maybe calling one a freeflier, rw or crewdog.

Prost, Bum deal, dude. I had ACL reconstruction on my right knee several years ago. It really sucked for a while, but it gave me a goal to persue. Medical technology has really improved and I see people healing much faster and getting back to normal. Running uphill isn't a problem. Downhill sucks for an ACL injury. Plus they used part of my patellar tendon and have a huge scar as a result. It's not so bad anymore and I rarely use my brace. Start your therapy early and spend a lot of time in the gym. (It really helps if your therapist looks like the St. Pauli girl!) You will do fine. Just be mentally tough!!

Nobody should ever leave there teammates. When somebody lands off after a cutaway, I often will either spot the main and/or freebag, and land with that person to ensure that there are no injuries. If possible and safe, persuing the main is an option. I've even landed with someone of the dz even though I would have made it back. Just so they had somebody to walk back with. Or debrief....

Triple F, Was McCain on the Oriskany? Or was he the one who "started" the "Forrestfire?" BTW, Viking's pic looked like the F18 took an OK-3 wire. Does it count?? And is that the FIRST time you've seen an AIM9 bolter?
