  1. MAN, there sure is a lot of big nose in that photo! no wonder i like you two so much! pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  2. 1:21:3 (i had premarital sex) one fun jump for Sean, the ultimate staff member at Crosskeys. twenty work jumps. and three packers beaten with crowbars. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  3. that's a great idea!! then we could all chip in and get you a fistful of KCSC jump tickets for your birthday! if the timing is right you would even get to enjoy the beer that is being sent to them in your name. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  4. what color? i'm guessing something pastel, for Easter. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  5. actually the Eriksmoen's ARE great people. i personnally would have to say that a given person's perceptions would have to be obfuscated(at best) to think that they(the Eriksmoen's) did not plan "this thing" well. i am sure you feel the same way, otherwise we wouldn't think so alike. i agree with you! the new dz should not be bashed on this(or any other) forum the way that other dz's in the KC area have NOT been bashed. see, this is why i love you Don! this is PRECISELY why two cases of beer(the good stuff, green bottles) are being sent to KCSC in the name of DON ZARDA. i'm gonna write Skydiving Magazine right now and nominate you for skydiver of the year for 2006. i realize it is only April, but jesus titty-fucking christ, you have done more for this sport than dancing midgets ever could(before anyone goes nutso on the dancing midgets thing, i did actually nominate The Amazing Barty's as skydivers of the year 2002, documentation available upon request). Godspeed and Good Luck, Don Zarda, i know i speak for skydivers everywhere when i say, "you are way better than dancing midgets!" i'm not just saying that, i MEAN IT! pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  6. holy cow, Don, you just love the shit out of this sport, dontcha? i'm upping the number of cases of beer going to KCSC in your name to two cases! and i will make sure it's the good stuff(green bottles). i only do this because of the love and support for skydiving and skydivers that you have so publicly demonstrated. please, stop being so likable, i'll go bankrupt at the pace you're making friends. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  7. not exactly drowning in comprehensive readers, am i? pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  8. i understand your position, and i realize that your motive is purely the intense love that you have for skydiving and skydivers everywhere. it is obvious that your soul intent is to promote skydiving in as safe a manner as possible. that is why i am sending a case of beer to KCSC in your name. we can all see your good wishes towards KCSC(some people may think that you are casting dispersions upon the new dz, but i realize that you are only trying to help), and i personally applaud your effort to minimize risk. you are an absolute Godsend to any dropzone you visit. i just love the way YOU promote skydiving, and EXEMPLIFY the attitude of skydivers evreywhere. you don't need to keep explaining yourself to me, champ. i get it. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  9. i'm not sure how any given person can be working for a business and not be staff. i know at my dz we have part-time staff, but they are still staff. in any case, i will take your word for it, you are not staff at any dz, and do not live in KC full time. some people might start to wonder why you are taking the position you currently have. i am not one of those people, i know that you are only speaking out because you love skydiving and genuinely wish to promote skydiving. in celebration of your love for the sport, and your unswerving dedication to safety, i am sending a case of beck's beer to KCSC. they will be toasting the honor, joy, love, and comradery that you have brought to skydiving. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  10. uspa makes no mention of disconnecting the rsl in the event of a horseshoe. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  11. disconnecting an rsl in freefall is midair rigging. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

  13. me neither. it really doesn't seem to be from my perspective. this is where you start to become difficult to understand, from my perspective. then it wouldn't kill you to wish the new dz well, since we are all skydivers and we all love to promote skydiving. go ahead tiger, tell the Eriksmoens you wish them all the best, after all(by your own words) you stand to lose nothing financially. perhaps you should work on your rapport skills. i don't want to sound like a know it all, but this last statement comes across as slightly less than, "warm and fuzzy". pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  14. not necessarily that tight. i have seen more than a few main containers that had sharp edges on the last grommet, this was caused by the locking pin cutting into the grommet over and over. it becomes a definite snagpoint for main lines. overtightening a rig can cause problems that are as bad or worse than the problems you were trying to prevent. i cannot recall any manufacturer stating a container(main or reserve) should be closed as tight as possible in writing. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  15. what about after or during main deployment? do you ever do them then? blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  16. cspence, skinnyshrek, even though there are hundreds of posts about this topic in a few threads(at least one of which got locked). there are obviously plenty of issues that have not been hashed out, thus the need for yet another thread on the same old topic. i would like to apologize to skymonkeyone for putting him through all the work of deleting my posts. let's focus on the fact that all kansas city dropzones are getting free advertising out of this. nobody should be focused on the fact that my opinion is that: we are beating a dead horse this is much ado about nothing we should go fly a kite we are making a mountain out of a mole-hill there is nothing here to mention this topic has been covered ad-nauseum we are picking the fly shit out of black pepper with boxing gloves the only positive thing i've noticed is that the new dzo's have refused to be petty and political in any of this. kinda makes ya wanna root for 'em, don't it? blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  17. they are all saves. they just didn't get, or haven't been used. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  18. until i had my first malfunction, i always wondered if i would make the right decisions and take the appropriate actions in that situation. as such, every trip to the dz involved the nagging question of, 'will i get it right when it happens'. i knew what i was supposed to do, and how to decide if my main was landable, but i still wasn't SURE i would do the right thing until it happened. perhaps the people who were paying attention to you either remembered or were experiencing the same feeling i had. ever see a parent the day their child took their first few steps? the congratulations you recieved was probably just empathetic pride, and vicarious exhiliration. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  19. any parachute can open hard, even when packed and deployed correctly. i am sure you are aware that any given skydiver can do everything right and still die. you will get alot of responses about body position, and a few concerning packing. there will be people who will ask you "are you sure that...". you jumped, you lived. if hard openings become a consistent problem, then you need to ask questions. asking advice on a website after only one hard opening is understandable, but not necessarily prudent. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  20. my first twenty-one years on the planet were pretty easy on me when it came to people "shirking their mortal coil". the last nineteen years have been a little different. one of my brothers(my hero) is dead, so is my mother, as well as tons of skydiving friends( and i do mean that literally). although every loss to me has been different in terms of the way i experience it, one thing has always been constant. i have always taken a moment to be grateful for the fact that i got to know the person i will never see again. a planet full of billions of people, and yet, this one person decided to become part of my life. that's like winning the lottery, because they were going to die sooner or later anyway, and they chose to spend some of that precious time with me. it doesn't make the pain go away, but it does help me. the only other thing i can offer is a quote from my sister-in-law regarding my brothers death. "this isn't something i will get over, it is something i will go through." blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  21. perhaps you could elucidate on your message. while i wont speak for all skydivers everywhere, i find it hard to believe that anyone would use distance from urethra to ground as a means of picking a dropzone. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  22. i have never overloaded my reserve as an instructor.(although i have done so before i got my ratings) i will not do so on my sport rig, or any tandem rig i use. how bout the rest of you? pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  23. 62% of all anecdotes involve water fowl of some sort. 22% of all anecdotes involve a cow and some sort of magic.(occasionally a legume of some sort) 54% of all anecdotes involve a lesson that will be overlooked by at least one person with a polysyllabic username. i hope this quells your desire for anecdotal statistics. could you please try to keep this thread on topic? note: i personally apologize for the thread hijack. i was just trying appeasement. yes, i realize it didn't work for Great Britain in 1939, but this isn't exactly going to cost millions of lives, is it? pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  24. lighten up Francis, blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
  25. i hate to be vague on this answer, but the answer is: as soon as possible. it is in any skydivers best interest to put their ticket in as quickly as they can if they want to jump(no matter what dz you are at). do not give Liz the opportunity to announce, "we are manifesting for load one", instead, you should give her the opportunity to say, "load one you are on a twenty minute call". x-keys is currently open at 10:00 am on weekdays, and 9:00 am on weekends. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
