Easy fix....arm the horses.

...and tip early to avoid mistakes. Riggers are professionals. The concept of 'tipping' your rigger really sounds abhorent and demeaning. No idea where you're gettin' that! Some of us gladly offer a tip for what it is, a gratuity...i.e. a monetary expression of appreciation and gratitude. Paying the "charge" is expected...a little extra thrown in, as a show of appreciation for being so "professional", is hardly demeaning. Some of us also consider the fact that without riggers, we're screwed. We understand and appreciate the great amount of pressure and responsibility that riggers willingly accept, so that the rest of us can jump with safety and confidence. I haven't seen a rigger yet, that charges what they are truly worth....just tryin' to make up the difference.

Consult your doctor! Really man, I'd forget about the next weekend...maybe even the one after. All that wind and cold air....you're just askin' for a "dry socket" and belieeeeeeeeve me, you don't want one! I'm thinkin' the altitude and pressure changes might be a tad uncomfortable too but couldn't swear to it. I strongly urge caution.

I'm not a rigger but I am a mech and as such, I can understand where there could be advantages to having a history with and familiarity of whatever it is you're working on. On the other hand, I can attest to the fact that on occasion, a fresh set of eyes can be a plus. Personally, I prefer to have my gear maintained by one rigger, since I have one that I feel I know very well personally. He knows me, my gear and all my skydiving and gear preferences so it works out well. BTW...don't forget to tip your rigger!

There's probably a downside to that, can't imagine what it could be though.

The progressive rock of the '70s...some late '60s stuff too.

Had the same problem last year, ordered it in early December....came from Spain. Supposedly, they'd lost the initial order and it wasn't discovered for months. I was told they process their orders by color and mine couldn't be made, until they ran that color again.

Are injuries too common among students?
kschilk replied to cmnt's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
From what I've seen in the incident reports and witnessed at dzs, students almost never get hurt. (nothing serious) Most injuries seem to occur, shortly after getting their A license. Go figure. -
Stay out of the fishing industry! I worked for a deep sea fishing fleet for awhile, as a "baiter"....preparing the bait and dressing the rigs. I learned fast, became good at it and was soon put in charge of all the baiters in the fleet. The pay wasn't so bad but I didn't care much for having the title of "fleet master baiter".

I honestly didn't know they were still around! Totally sweet! Brings back some hazy memories...reeeeeeaaaal hazy.

Maybe jumping a different rig, might ease your mind a bit...less deja vu? At any rate, I'd bomb the door, no hanging out in the doorway or outside the plane...just go!

Jump #29 reserve ride - maybe this isn't for me...
kschilk replied to hackish's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
During my training, rather severe (6 or more wraps) line twists and collapsed end cells were an almost every jump thing. I had a few stuck sliders and pilot chute over the leading edge mals but they were rare. Shortly after completing AFF, I had 2 minor lineovers (first on jump 14) but managed to clear them. I hadn't packed any of them, all were student rigs. I was feeling a bit like you. I eventually chalked it all up to good experience, since I know people with hundreds of jumps who've never had any malfuntions. On my 52nd jump, I had a brake come unstowed....which resulted in a rapid line twist, turn and dive, that quickly evolved into a hellacious flat-spin. After I punched out of that furball, I was thankful I'd had previous, even though minor malfunction experience. If not, I may not have reacted properly or quick enough. -
Some connectors need to be "backprobed", ya' know!

C'mon now, modified?! That's just a nice way of sayin' "hack-job". They're just fine, the way they come from the factory. To hell with gun control, wrenches oughta' have to be registered.

Nah, won't fly....but therapy, now there's a valid argument! "T'was ever thus."

Despite what you might have heard, Russia is pretty nice too. Finland's cool....Estonia and Litva too.

....could also be the hard drive. -
One of 'em supposedly led a charge, one (if I remember correctly) was a squadron commander but as to whether he actually "led" the attack, I dunno'. At any rate, I'm pretty sure neither was in office at the time.
-
If it were like in medieval times, when the kings and nobles led the charge into battle, things in Washington would probably be a lot different.

What is the funniest movie you have ever seen?
kschilk replied to NoShitThereIWas's topic in The Bonfire
I can't believe it's gotten this far and nobody's mentioned FANDANGO !!!!!! The skydiving part of it is hilarious....and I've actually seen someone "miss the mat", on the harness sim! -
