  1. I'm afraid "supposedly", is the operative word here. As for Chavez....voting with a gun to your head or being afraid to vote, for fear of death....isn't my definition of a democracy. "T'was ever thus."
  2. This cracked me up! Woulda' been funnier, had he decked the little, fat, mouthy bastard! http://www.breitbart.tv/html/7925.html "T'was ever thus."

I'm quite sure, they already know....they're probably pulling into your driveway, as I type this! "T'was ever thus."
  4. I can't add much to that, except my own heartfelt thanks and gratitude. Let's also not forget the civilian arm of the military, they give a lot and many also become casualties. Thanks to all! "T'was ever thus."
  5. I always thought NASCAR, stood for Not A Sport, Carolina's Alternative to Racing. "T'was ever thus."
  6. I was jumping a Tri 160 for several years, then got a new Safire 2 139. Honestly, I've never jumped a Pilot. I absolutely love the openings I'm gettin' with the Safire 2 and have been told by many, that the only thing that opens sweeter is the Crossfire. What I absolutely love about the Safire 2, is the way it handles in the rough stuff. On my first jump with it, the turbulence was severe...especially on the base leg. Everyone else seemed to be getting bucked around quite a bit but I glided in, smooth as silk (well, maybe nylon). Most other canopies appeared to mush-out and lost some of their rigidity but from under it, my Safire 2 appeared to remain full and tight. I had the op to see video of most of the load coming in and my canopy clearly was the most stable of the lot....at a 1.04:1 WL....most others were higher. The Safire 2 seems to require a deeper flare than most, if you just coast 'er in but still , the landings range from really nice, to totally sweet. It can be much more docile than many had led me to believe but if you really put your foot in it, she'll crank with the best of 'em. I had some initial problems with delivery (custom order) but I'd have to admit, it was worth the wait. Have you considered the Fusion? "T'was ever thus."
  7. Nah man, my candidate (the Afflack Duck) is gonna' landslide this one! "T'was ever thus."

Wow! As rants go, that's a pretty damned good one. You made some good points there. I can't say I totally disagree, though I kinda' liked ol' "Senior"....'til the decision NOT to take Baghdad. I often wondered how he was able to father children, since he didn't grow any balls until AFTER his presidency. I doubt jumping with the Golden Knights is cheap and you're probably right, it was on our tab. I respect him for doing the jumps, at his age but really, after all the tandems.....wouldn't you think he'd be about ready for AFF?! "T'was ever thus."
  9. I rarely break any and I usually replace them all, after 4 or 5 jumps or after an extended layoff, just for s & gs. They must still be ok. I appreciate the reply!
  10. Damn, that looks good! "T'was ever thus."
  11. Congrats to all the Devil Dogs and here's to many, many more (a tall glass of the hard stuff )! "T'was ever thus."
  12. Ran across that once and hired a "hit kid". Cheap and oh soooo effective. "T'was ever thus."
  13. Ya' know, it's because of people like all of you, that folks like me felt so privileged to serve....and are hatin' life now, 'cause we're to old to go back in and give 'em hell again. "T'was ever thus."
  14. Does anyone know the approximate shelf-life of rubber band stows? They've been stored in the original box, still have the talcum and were kept at comfortable (68 - 75 degree) indoor tempreatures. Randoms stretch-tests seem to indicate they're still ok but just wondered if there's a set shelf-life recommendation for them. "T'was ever thus."
  15. Aw c'mon, give the guy a break. He needed an endorsement and with Hussein dead and Bin Laden not readily available....Robertson was pretty much all that was left. "T'was ever thus."
  16. I'd have to disagree. I've seen the Pavelows down for mechanical issues far more than the UH-60s. What the force is using and relying on heavily these days is the old work horse Chinook. IMHO, they should look at a way to continue making new ones and improving on that airframe as it can and has served ALL the roles mentioned in the article. It really takes a lot of abuse and it can do anything from milk runs, resupply ,sling loads to inserting troops on the objective or as a jump platform. When I was in, the 53 Mike was the real workhorse and the 60s were just coming in. There were a ton of problems with the early HH-60s, as with any new bird. Considering its variety of missions, the 53 was very reliable and really, the only one that could pull the mine sleds. As much as I hated to work on 'em, I had great respect for the Jolly Greens (or grey). "T'was ever thus."
  17. Thanks for posting this! As for myself, it was a privelege to serve (USN - '88 thru '93). I think that all too often, Veterans' Day and Armed Forces Day go ignored. Thanks again! "T'was ever thus."
  18. Maybe some easy stretching exercises would be good preventive maintenance but it's really not what you'd call a "physically demanding" sport. It can certainly become that way but for now, I'd go easy on the physical training. You're more likely to injure yourself exercising, if it hasn't been a routine thing. "T'was ever thus."
  19. I kinda' like my '84 Parisienne. It's pretty good on gas, if ya' keep your foot off the front bumper. It doesn't have airbags but if I tangle with anything less than a fully loaded garbage truck.....I win. "T'was ever thus."
  20. Yeah, they'll do that. I'd try one of those "humane" traps and some bait, (nuts & peanutbutter works) if I were you. The li'l critter's likely holed-up in a wall or cubbyhole somewhere....check (up) under ALL appliances and behind the fridge (including the condenser coils). It's better to find it now, than smell it later! My daughter had several of those, when she was little. They're clever little dudes, they can open cages and can escape from almost anything, if they really want to. I wasn't crazy about the things at first but some of them really have real personality, they can be cool. "T'was ever thus."
  21. TRY IT?! I wrote the freakin' BOOK....of course it's kinda hard to read...all wet and everything! Woohoo! New sport.....Skybadivin'! "T'was ever thus."
