I had a Red Siberian Husky, when we had snow like that and the temps were well below zero (F). I couldn't get him to come in, he stayed outside for days. "T'was ever thus."

Maybe a last resort but you could check with any animal rescue org., if there are any locally. They probably have plenty of contacts with reputable pet-lovers, I'm sure someone would be glad to board a pup for awhile. "T'was ever thus."

Doing an Off DZ Jump? Take Your Cell Phone!

A low-tech alternative may be to take 2 sticks with you, rub them together, make a fire and send a smoke signal in case you land out or injure yourself... I'm pretty sure smoke has a wider service area too. Ya' know, NASA spent something like 10 years and 10 million dollars, to develop a pen that would write in extreme cold or heat, at any angle and in zero-gravity........the Russians used a pencil. Innovative Tools to beat the crap outta someone... Add to this list.

If you really want it to be painful.....a trailer-hitch to the shins, is tough to beat. "T'was ever thus." -
I keep 'er well tweaked but nothing special...and I almost never use OD. I had an '86 Camaro, with a 2.8 L ('S' series, multiport) that pushed close to 40 mpg, on the Interstate. A lot of it, is in how and where you drive. ALso...around here, I rarely need to use the A/C....that saves a bunch. "T'was ever thus."

Sometimes, politically, it is preferable to show your hand. It's like the stealth bomber - we wheeled that sucker out with fanfare. "Hey, world. See what we've got? You'll only see it on here, because you won't see it on radar." I wouldn't be able to resist the op to f**k with 'em. I'd leak out a "secret" video....showing this huuuuuuge catcher's mitt, being wheeled out of a hangar. "T'was ever thus."

I get 28-32 mpg minimum, on a regular basis....but that's in an '84 Pontiac Parisienne, with a 5.0....and with a Quadrajet carb! Technology's a hoot! "T'was ever thus."

Yeah, a buddy of mine is in the same situation. His house is on a bad turn, his house has been hit several times. He was informed that he cannot install any barricades, trees or anything....exactly the same reasons as mentioned above. He can't even sell the place, everybody knows it's history. The city and state won't even install guide rails, because of the liability...he's been fightin' with both, for 10 years or so. "T'was ever thus."

I think it is, definitely easier on the fingies. The string snaps into the arch, on the stretcher....I start at the pickups, pull out on the string and rock the tool forward, going toward the headstock, then rock it back and slide it back down to the bridge. Once or twice on each string and I usually never (after final tune to pitch) have to retune. I used to break a lot of high strings, stretching by hand...especially on the 12s but since using this, I haven't broken any. I know some of the string winders (Planet Waves) have a stretcher built into them but I don't think they're nearly as convenient. "T'was ever thus."

Do guys expect gifts or cards on Valentine's Day?

My wife got me a $100 gift certificate from Musician's Friend....then offered to let me spend another $1400-$1600, on this guitar I've had my eye on. Damn, I must be good! "T'was ever thus." -
At least, he's no "Benedict Arlen" (Specter). "T'was ever thus."

What would be a BAD Valentine's Day Gift for You?
kschilk replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in The Bonfire
A summons. "T'was ever thus." -
Yeah, I'd love to see him LIVE! I was just lookin' at some old Procol Harum pics too! He's the main reason, that I have a Strat...he got me hooked on that sound. I'd heard he was jammin' with Jeff Beck, at a Frank Marino (Mahogany Rush) tribute, not too long ago! That hadda' be great! "T'was ever thus."

Which is a better gift, for a woman....a dozen roses or a drum of oil? They're both damned near the same price! "T'was ever thus." -
I do use that on occasion. But with working in EMS I can't do it too often cause then I can't get called in in the case of an emergency. Ya' need to go to work for the Coroner....lotsa' stiffies there! "T'was ever thus."

I'd left it in the case of a guitar that I hadn't played in a while and forgot where it was. I was hatin' life for almost a year, 'til I found it...with 5 guitfiddles (2 of 'em 12s), it was a huuuuge time saver. "T'was ever thus."

Hav'ta be a small child, it's only 2" long and an inch and a half high! "T'was ever thus."

This is a handy gadget, a string-stretcher that was included in a set of Fender Super Bullets I'd bought a few years ago. This is the only one I've ever seen and I'd like to get a few more, for spares and for some of my playin' buddies. I've searched online but all I can come up with, is the patent info. Anybody know where I can find 'em? "T'was ever thus."

I usually get a nasty cold, sometime in late September and hang on to it, 'til sometime in June....occupational hazard. "T'was ever thus."

That's a funny movie!

I don't think it was the Nazis but if you claim you're gonna' do a study on it, you could use the grant money to buy the good stuff....just like the guys at Stanford! "T'was ever thus."
