The display on the Neptune is pretty big, and stays on for a certain time period after jumping. If you jump, land, pack, and then post dive the display will probably have timed out. If you turn it back on to fill out your log book it will stay on for the same time period. So if you want your battery to last longer either do your log book right after you land or wait until you put it into Paralog. Mine lasts much longer now. RE: Surviving the No Wind Landing
gearless_chris replied to hexadecimal's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Wahoo! Go downwind! I love down or crosswind landings, I also make sure the other 3 people in the plane know what I'm doing ahead of time, and they should fly their own pattern and not follow me . So how many people do you suppose don't know who we're talking about. We signed a paper to get him nominated so he wouldn't be competing with Sherry. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

I have wondered the same thing, I often get 0 freefall time from hop-n-pops but it still knows when I opened. The readout on the Neptune never matches the Graph from Paralog(graph is usually lower). What was really weird though was a demo we did where we flew level fromt the DZ to the demo site and descended to do a low fly by. During the descent both Neptunes in the plane went to freefall mode, then canopy mode and logged a jump. when we got on jump run we noticed our neptune altitudes were off by 1,000 feet(read 4,000 at 5,000 feet actual). Both were off the same and neither has done it before or since even on similar flight patterns. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. In a GM training video I watched for finding wind and water leaks, you tape over the door jamb vents and turn the heater on high with everything closed up. Spray soapy water over all the seams to find leaks by looking for bubbles. So they should be sealed enough to hold some pressure as long as you don't have rust holes like all my cars

I had an awesome time until I gimped up my knee in a gopher hole. The wind sucked to pack in though. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

Body position on deployment vs camera helmet
gearless_chris replied to johnboy's topic in Photography and Video
I don't do anything different than normal, same head and body position. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole. -

You must not've met Duane then. Not an asshole just really annoying after a few days. You guys made fun of us Friday at the fire just because we laughed 18 hours straight Thursday. So does anyboby have or know of a skydiving nickname that came from something positive instead of from doing something wrong? "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

There's also usually a lot of beer cans. And Spiderman will be back for target practice. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

I climb out the same way no matter what I'm wearing, I haven't jumped a U206 though. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

Check out my high quality map of where most people set up camp. There may be others that have regular spots but I don't know them. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

I jump at Angola on Fridays and special occasions, and Indiana Skydiving Academy in Goshen on weekends. Angola 's at lot prettier, but both are good. If you fly at Smithfield you might know Russ, he was one of our jump pilots for a while, and one of my favorites. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. how fast can you get on your belly?

Grab your heels behind your back to pull them in. Steer by dipping your shoulders. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole. -
I jump a 170 Nitron (about 400 jumps on it) and demoed a 150 Nitro, and a 170 Competition Cobalt(they didn't have a 150 demo). I've been jumping a 150 Stilleto while my Nitron is getting repaired. The Nitron/Nitro are pretty docile for a fully eliptical canopy. They tolerate my crappy packing very well. I've had a brake release on opening many times and it doesn't spin up. They have a shorter recovery arc than the Stilleto so you can make stupid low turns. To me the front riser pressure is high and rear riser pressure is low. The Comp cobalt opens nice also. It looked a little weird first because of the 2 stage openings. The front riser pressure was lighter than my Nitron but the rear riser pressure was higher. The Nitro flew great with harness turns and will fly with 0 ground speed. I eventually picked the Comp Cobalt for my new canopy because it had a higher ground speed than the Nitron/Nitro. The Stilleto is my favorite to fly so far but it doesn't have the low speed lift that I'm used to. And it doesn't like crosswind landings as much as the Cobalt or Nitro. My first 2 night jumps were on July 2nd, it was awesome looking down at fireworks for 150 miles in all directions. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

That's why I psycho pack, it opens slow. Well maybe not slow when I pull at 160MPH, but livable. Neptune said I pulled at 2500 so I was probably still doing 150 or so when I pulled. Yes it was from the 4 way, or double rodeo, or whatever you'd call it with 2 rodeo's side by side. After we "lost" the other pair. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole. -

This was on a rodeo so not exactly on my belly. Yes, the opening was "brisk". I had tucked up into basically a cannonball position. By myself I got 159 videoing sitflyers. Of course I'll be with the clowns, but we did have a couple move to Florida. We still have Spiderman for accuracy. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole. -

I'll be there. It was my first boogie also, and I have been to them all since. My liver has almost recovered from the low clouds last year. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole. -

0:4:1 AFF video, airshow demo, 1st lineover/2nd ripped canopy/5th cutaway, a couple of 2 way RW jumps. Is it technically a double mal if you have 2 problems with the same canopy? The lineover cleared but the tear got bigger. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
