    Actually, did you see the show. One guy is so screwed up mentally that he goes back on line, and the very next day they trap him AGAIN at Mcdonalds... The reporter says, "I have been in news for a long time, but you made me speechless." As the guy walks away they zoom into his untied shoes. You could see in this guy's eyes that he had some screws missing - he needs help... Serious help... From someone trained in mental health. no, sorry, didn't see the show... not surprised though. something like this can change someone for the better (not saying the media tactics were right), sometimes it will have no bearing at all....     interesting, execpt that if i recall the principle of double effect correctly, it violates two of it's basic tenets. The first being that the action in question itself not be wrong. And the second being that the the good effect be proportionate to the bad. I certainly don't mean to sound insensitive, but it seems to me that the potential effects of this sort of activity on our society as a whole outweighs the good effect of saving a small number of members of the same society. Oh man, i'm going to catch so much hell for this. i typed too fast... what I was meaning to say is that that the ends don't justify the means... employing the principle of double effect, as you rightly state, one can't do an "evil" act so that "good" can result.
