Why do you insist on spelling it Hillory? Are you trying to make yourself look stupid? - Dan G

How's that Kool-Aid? - Dan G

Ya, and I suspect that you don't see the difference between what I wrote and what Ron wrote because he's on your side. Nice selective memory about the totality of my post,by the way. - Dan G

You know, at some point I had a little respect for you, since you claim to be involved in veterans' issues and seemed to actually care. With this latest comment, I can see the real you, and I've lost all respect. You have no class, and the more you post, the more obvious it becomes. - Dan G

Questioning another's service is way out of line. Fuck you. - Dan G

Riots over a shoting turn into free jordans and 40's

Don wrote a lengthy and well thought out post, which you clearly didn't read. Try reading it and responding to the substance. - Dan G -

Nor do I. There is a large difference between dismissing the crime, and thinking it deserves a life sentence. - Dan G -
Riots over a shoting turn into free jordans and 40's
DanG replied to Anvilbrother's topic in Speakers Corner
Yeah, maybe not. Do you think that a criminal can never repay his debt to society? I'd like to think that the punishment should fit the crime. Petty criminals (like a habitual clothing thief) don't need to be locked up like violent offenders. - Dan G -

You are absolutely right. His choice to steal a $159 jacket instead of a $60 one justifies sending him to prison for life. Just keep in mind that the individual taxpayers will now be paying for his incarceration for decades. - Dan G -

I guess I don't think burgulary is a serious or violent offense, especially when the goods being burgled are of low value. - Dan G -

Another valid question is why shoplifting is a felony. The guy took a $159 jacket. Why should that be considered a felony? - Dan G -
Of course, that's why I said "may" and "after the fact". I know that the upgrade would be ex post facto. You said you hadn't seen any reference to top secret classification, so I provided one. Is it possible for you not to try and start an argument with every post? - Dan G

If someone accidently kills the person next door, whether with a gun or a car, they should be treated exactly the same way. If someone borrows or steals my car and runs over the neighbor, why is that different from someone handling my gun and shooting the neighbor? But some posters, including you I thought, were in favor of holding a gun owner responsible if a thief steals their gun and commits a crime with it. Seems arbitrary to me. - Dan G

Uh, yeah. I was asking the person I asked. - Dan G

Apparently two e-mails may be upgraded (after the fact) to TS. From the extreme right wing NPR: http://www.npr.org/2015/08/12/431807436/clinton-team-to-release-private-email-server-she-used-as-secretary-of-state - Dan G

Where do you draw the line on what needs to be locked up and what doesn't? Why guns and not chainsaws? Why guns and not butcher knives? Why guns and not bleach and ammonia? And to the iriginal point (which no one ever answered) if a burgular steals my carving knife and stabs someone with it, should I be charged as an accessory? - Dan G

How it keeping your gun locked in a safe when you are not home keeping your neighbor safe? It is not the same, and I think you know that. - Dan G

Then you probably needed a permit to have that, huh? - Dan G

Would equate what? I don't understand your question. - Dan G

Cylinders and explosives are dangerous to the whole neighborhood. They are particularly dangerous to fire fighters. They are dangerous even when they haven't been stolen by a criminal. Basically, you are advocating criminalizing being robbed. It is completely different from the requirement to safely store explosives. - Dan G

People her sren't saying, "you should lock up your guns." People are saying, "you should be required under penalty of law to lock up your guns." Big difference. - Dan G

As much as I find it bewildering to type the following sentence, I must do it anyway. Here we go: rushmc is 100% right on this one. A homeowner should bear no responsibility if someone enters their home, steals their property, and then commits a crime with that stolen property. Now, if someone I invited into my house hurts themselves (with a gun or otherwise) then I should bear some liability. That's what homeowner's insurance is for. - Dan G

I agree with all your points. - Dan G

I'm pro gun rights, but are you really going to argue that a hatchet is as good a weapon for inflicting multiple woulds on multiple targets as a gun? Guns are weapons, and they are good at what they do. If he had a gun, he probably would have been able to cause much more damage. Pretending that isn't true just makes you look silly. - Dan G
