  1. That's not ROI and you know it. If the only things on the balance sheet were electricity produced and government subsidies, then I guess you could make that argument. You're ignoring the fact that the fossil fuel companies get paid by the end user for their electricity. It's not like the government is buying electricity for the people, and the "subsidies" are the only expense. Also, you fail to include environmental concerns, but that's not surprizing. Either way, you and I both know that a major goal of government subsidies is to help new businesses get off the ground and actually grow the economy. Of course new energy companies are going to be producing less energy per dollar in subsidies, that's what subsidies are for. Established enegy companies shouldn't be getting subsidies at all. Then your ROI would be infinite and you'd be even happier, right? - Dan G
  2. So what? That's a pretty weird metric. The fossil fuel indistry is huge and well established. Why do they need "subsidies" at all? - Dan G
  3. Nice, Webster. You know what you're trying to imply when you say "subsidy". You're trying to imply that money is gone from the Federal budget, wasted on green energy. When the loan gets repaid you can't bitch about wasting tax dollars. - Dan G
  4. I think you mean "loan". A loan is not a subsidy. - Dan G
  5. Are you under the impression that your story is relevant to green energy loans? - Dan G
  6. I don't believe the study says that, "every single dataset we've ever made is wrong." You aren't helping your argument by being silly. I suspect these new adjustments are a mix of good and bad. Again, I'd love to read the article and see what it actually says. - Dan G
  7. The Nature article definitely seems fishy. Too bad I can't read the actual article. I hope they have a more detailed explanation of their method. Frankly, I very much doubt that Science would publish something that was as obviously BS as you try to make it sound. Any non-biased people here have a subscription to Science? - Dan G
  8. Can you at least tell me the name of the intake sensor paper? Or the author? Or some way of finding it? - Dan G
  9. Was that an attempt to provide an actual link? It didn't work. - Dan G
  10. Can you link to something that supports your story? - Dan G
  11. Gentlemen, this is not LaPlace for this discussion! - Dan G
  12. Wow, you were there? Did they serve good Danishes? - Dan G
  13. Are you saying that Medicare is not covering things it did before? I'm not old enough to use Medicare yet, I'm just trying to understand. You need to fight that hard and fast. If you need to, get the VFW involved. They have people who specialize in dealing with the VA BS. - Dan G
  14. Apparently not. I'm sure someday there will be a female that can make it all the way through. So far it looks like only 19 have ever been given the chance to try. Hopefully they won't change the course to increase the female pass rate. That's kind of what I meant by a gynast body. I think I lot of civilians think Rangers look like football players. Receivers, maybe, linebackers, not at all. - Dan G
  15. Um, whoever can do it right fucking now. If I'm lying there taking fire, I'm not going to decline a drag because the dragger doesn't have a penis. BTW, most Rangers are fairly small of frame. They tend to be built more like gymnasts than power lifters. - Dan G
  16. Since the New World hadn't been discovered yet, and Islam hadn't been invented yet, how did the author of the Bible let modern readers know that's what He was talking about? In the grand scheme of things, the economic collapse of 2008 was hardly a blip. There have been much worse economic collapses over the last 2000 years. You're just focused on the 2008 collapse because it happened recently. If the author of the Bible were trying to warn people of the end of days, he should have picked a much better signal than a minor recession. - Dan G
  17. Ever hear the phrase "college kids"? How old do you think they are? - Dan G
  18. And I bet, with the help of just a few more donations, in early October these scholars will be able to explain why they were wrong and the new date is.... - Dan G
  19. Nope, you misunderstood. I don't care if the cops ask for my ID. I never said that I don't care about giving my ID. If I think they are asking for a legitimate purpose, I'll surely provide it willingly. If, however, I think they are just fucking with me or overstepping their authority, I believe I should have the right to remain an anonymous citizen and go on my way. In short, the choice (absent extenuating circumstances like an active search for a criminal) should be mine. It shouldn't be a crime to be walking dowwn the street expect to be left alone. - Dan G
  20. Well, we are all human, so of course they have some influence, but that doesn't mean they are the most important things, like Ron thinks they should be. - Dan G
  21. Snark: I think you meant that you couldn't care less. Serious response: I don't care if I get asked for my ID either. I do very much care that I can get jailed for refusing to provide it even if I've committed no other crime. - Dan G
  22. I completely believe that people's feelings, beliefs, and fanatasies have no place in determining US foreign policy. The fact that you apparetly disagree says a lot about you. - Dan G
  23. In an individual's life? Who knows? I guess it depends on the individual. In US foreign and war policy? None of them matter at all. Since that's what we are talking about, your feelings, beliefs, and fanasies have no relevence. - Dan G
  24. What part of billvon's post are you talkiing about? Do you believe Bush orchestrated 9/11, or are you greeing that our best intel at the time said that Saddam had no WMD's? Either way, your support of the Iraq war makes no logical sense, unless all you cared about was killing a bunch of Muslims. - Dan G
