    What your kid might know (but you probably don't remember) is the distributive property of multiplication. (A + B) * C = A*C + B*C and conversely, A*C + B*C = (A + B) * C or, in this case 1*Pretax-price + 0.0825*Pretax-price = 1500 therefore, (1 + 0.0825) * Pretax-price = 1500 and finally, Pretax-price = 1500 / (1 + 0.0825) - Dan G

    Andy, that was the exact point of the analogy. Rehmwa keeps saying the doctor shouldn't be involved in the decision. I was pointing out that he/she should be involved in the decision, since he/she is the one who has to actually perform the procedure. - Dan G

    Sure it should be treated with respect, but that doesn't make it a crime to do otherwise. The protesters, no matter how stupid, had every right to disrespect the flag. Not agreeing with their actions doesn't make their actions illegal. Stealing their flag is illegal. The wannabe media whore should have been arrested and charged. Of course, that would have made her an even bigger cause celeb for the moron class, so it's probably best she wasn't. The protesters, on the other hand, did nothing illegal. They shouldn't be subjected to legal action. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be subjected to counter-protest or attempts to educate them. - Dan G
