Damned right! Hint..do not tell people what it is until after they eat it. You might get more converts that way. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  2. I have no experience defending myself from criters (other than mosquitos) so I just presumed that bear would be the biggest issue.
  3. Regrettably, sports programs do get a disproportionate amount of the funding at the expense of other programs. Regarding the student support programs you refer to I am not sure what you mean. If by student support you mean academic support and critical care support (like counsellors for students who are experiencing a crisis) and such, I would place a bit of a premium on that over sports, arts, politics etc, but yes in spirit I agree that greater distribution of funding needs to happen. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  4. I realise there is to some extent an apples and oranges issue happening but this needs to be looked at from the school administrations perspective not the pro-choicers. Yes there needs to be pioritisation (health counselling, suicide counselling etc before political and such) but the pro-choice groups do not actually provide the abortions they simply advocate the right to have one, while the pro-life group cannot stop a woman from having one, they simply express thier view on it. While I disagree with thier view they have the right to say it. One of the principle ideas of academics is to get people to express unpopular views and be willing to encourage controversial debate. The school needs to acknowledge that if they are using tuition fees to fund student groups then so long as it does not take away from critical services they should be willing to allocate that equally. Otherwise all groups should have to find thier own funding. You mentioned that ignorance about aids causing the problem to be ignored and I agree with you but open discussion has to have all parties being given equal opportunity to express thier views (so long as they are not openly expressing hate messages or harrassing anyone). In this case the school would be wrong to fund one group and not the other even though you and I may find the other sides views to be somewhat archaic. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  5. I see your point Bill but the funding comes from student tuition including that of the pro-lifers. Either the schools should get out of funding student groups or they should fund fairly. These students have thier tuition fees used to support groups that promote ideas that they disagree with yet they do not get a slice of the pie to counter thse views. By funding one perspectve (for posters, printing, renting space etc) while denying it to the other side of the argument they are implicitly blocking certain views. If that is the case then they should allow these students a rebate on the portion of thier fees used to fund the pro-choicers (nothing against pro-choicers, I am one). At York several students from a group (I do not know which group) actually forced the recruiters off the Campus during a career fair and at Ryerson one of the professors is trying to ban them. I do not think the recruiters are accepting money from any schools. 6. I see what you are saying but I disagree. Part of university funding is dedicated to funding a wide range of student groups to support the idea of free speech and ideas. This funding comes from the tuition of all studens including the pro-lifers. If the school is in the business of deciding which speech they will fund then they are defeating the whole purpose of providing funding to groups and are in effect trying to curtail expression of views they do not approve of. If that is the case they should not be funding anyone. To say we will fund the pro-choice group but not the pro-life group they are implicitly saying that pro-life vieware unnacceptable. Again I am pro-choice but I think pro-lifers should have the same access to group funding or no-one should have access to it. 7. That serves you right! A penis is not a toy! You should always assume it is loaded. Next time you be sure to handle it in a more responsible manner. Did anyone get sprayed? 8. Carleton University student groups have banded together to demand the university bans a pro-life student group from receiving funding. Love how clowns like this will screech about freedom of speech when it is something they support but limit it when they do not approve. http://www.ottawasun.com/News/OttawaAndRegion/2006/11/29/2545155-sun.html I am pro-choice but what is wrong with pro-lifers speaking thier view so long as they do not harrass people? These are the same kind of dickheads that want to ban Army Recruiters from any university campus. 9. Nothing. I would not want to risk causing myself to make decisions that might take away some of the things I really appreciate in life. For example had it not been for some earlier fuck-ups on my part I might never have been in a position to meet my wife. 10. In that case then fine. Playing dead would scare the shit right out of me. I would probably lose composure and start screaming once he started pawing me. Let people do, it but impress upon people that this does not mitigate their moral obligation to do everything possible to avoid an encounter (ie all the same precautions one would take if not armed) My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  11. Were those marines awarded a Darwin? Did the jury by the defence? If not how much did it weigh on the judge during sentencing? Pretty much My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  12. Perhaps we shouldn't ban them, however you cannot carry a concealed penis (therefore we would all walk around naked). Next there would be a penis registry. The Emergence of the NPA (National Penis Association), who strive to defend the rights of law abiding penis owners Like firearms they might actually have length restrictions for penis's, which could lead to discrimination complaints if there is any truth to existing stereotypes My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  13. Skipping school too much. Given that i did not want to be there, I found the punishment quite hilarious. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  14. Undecided. I would feel more inclined to carry a gun in a big city than in a national park (and feel less remorse for having to use it). That said, mostly I have been in areas with just black bears and a few cougars (never saw a cougar in the wild), and I have only been in grizzly country a couple of times (never saw one) therefore my lack of desire to carry one may be skewed by my relatively mild backpacking experiences. I would be concerned that many hunters would poach under the guise that "it tried to attack me". Maybe I would be OK with someone carrying a shotgun with an extremely short barrel and slugs, or a .44 magnum so as to ensure that people only shot at things that were dangerously close. One thing I have heard and maybe you can confirm. I read somewhere that most people survive grizzly maulings (with considerable injury) and that shooting it just enrages it thus worsenning your predicament and increasing the severity of the attack. Has anyone else heard this? Anyway I am curious to see where this debate goes. 15. In reality the HOA's started as a good idea but like so many good ideas it gets taken to extremes. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  16. I'm the exact opposite. I love the burbs and hate city living. I would prefer however to avoid overly militant HOA's. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  17. To an extent I can agree with asking people to show a bit of respect for the neighborhood as nobody wants trashy people driving down their resale value (car on blocks on lawn). Unfortunately with all these things HOA, Strata-Councils, Co-Op councils it turns into petty bullying and is usually run by people who apparently have all the time in the world to play these games. Unfortunately they are often not employed full time so they have more time to put into the game than you can afford and often you end up just leaving in frustration My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  18. But the ones who are truly determined to change do not need to be enticed by higher wages for participation. The ones who will only do it for higher wages are the ones who are most likely to re-offend. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  19. I agree in spirit with the idea of trying to assist with thier reintegration into society, however I do take exception to the idea of them being enticed with payraises. The reason for this is stated in your own post "it is up to the inmate to help him/her self along ". The idea of enticing them with payraises puts into question the motivation of the person entering the program. If someone truly wants to reform and reintegrate then he/she will partake in the program without needing to be bribed with higher pay. Like a student (who not only is not paid to go to university but often incurrs heavy debt) the convict should be enticed purely by the long term benefits of developing a skill. Playing the bribe game will get people into these programs for all the wrong reasons. As a result we will allocate funds best left to to those who actually want to reform to those who simply want more cigarrette money. 21. I'm not yet willing to either accept or reject this as being true. Who reported that this was said by the victims? The police, or a neutral source? I don't recall. I read it in the Globe this morning on the bus but I have already thrown it out. Whuffos

Yup. That looked like me the first time out (minus the tandem instructor) when I did my IAD. Telling it to my family and freinds later I sounded much more macho than I looked when I jumped with a pathetic deer in the headlights look on my face. Strutter! 25. It has since been noted in the globe and mail that during the initial altercation one of the victims yelled "yo, get my gun", and the decease had yelled "Let's fuck him up". Let us analyse that statement "Let's (plural) fuck him (singular) up" threats of guns and demonstarting the wilingness to use of numerical superiority to "fuck some guy up" over some perceived slight, diminishes the likelyhood that these were a couple of innocent angels who were gunned down for "driving while black". I acknowledge that these facts alone do not mean they deserved to die, but I am now even less inclined than before to crucify the cops over this until they have been subject to a fair inquiry.
