What makes you want to go to a boogie?
Vallerina replied to Rdutch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I enjoy parties with whuffos better than any party I've ever been to with skydivers, so the party scene is never what takes me to a boogie. I love the Otters up here the best, so it's never the aircraft that take me to a boogie. It's all about the people. I had such a great time at Summerfest because it was easy to go do two-way freefly jumps with some of the best freefliers in the world. I had a great time at the Convention because I got to hang out with friends I rarely get to see (the same will go with Richmond.) There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning -
I loved it but not enough to spend that much money on a suit. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Books that have changed you and your perceptions
Vallerina replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire
eeneR lent me her copy of "The Mastery of Love" by Don Miguel Ruiz since it had such a great impact on her. Much of this book had a similar theme (self-love) to a book that changed my perceptions and has helped me grow as an individual. The book that I love is "Feeling Good" by David D. Burns. I'm a logical person, and I love this book because he just uses straight-up logic to help people. His basis is that feelings come from our thoughts. Sometimes our thoughts are distorted. To change our negative feelings, we have to change our thoughts. He gets you to practice challenging distorted thoughts which cause negative feelings. It just makes sense to me, so I was able to identify with it so well. Many people here like to do some soul searching on occasion. What books have really helped you grow and why? EDIT: Oops! Adding on a link to the "Feeling Good" website: http://www.feelinggood.com/ and to amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0380810336/qid=1093827621/sr=ka-1/ref=pd_ka_1/103-1403823-7827031 There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning -

Are you good at keeping secrets/surprises to yourself?
Vallerina replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire
Whew! I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that then! I'll sit there and get so excited about the surprise that I can't keep it inside any longer! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning -
You are only ineligible if you've been in the sport for more than 5 years, are over the age of 25, and have more than 1,000 jumps. We tried to get the dzo of Skydive Indiana to compete since he was also a Purdue student. But, he met all three of those qualifications, so he couldn't compete. Vallerina replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire
If there is something very important and life-altering, and someone really wants to confide in me, then I can keep a secret like that. I'm trustworthy with important things. However, I was always the kid who would tell their brother what they got them for Christmas right after they wrapped the gift up and put it under the tree. I can't keep those kinds of secrets/surprises to myself. I try every time to not spoil it, but I do. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning -
Oh my gosh!!! I hung out with those "dickheads" all week while I was there. After the competition was over, they were great in jumping with me and giving me tips and pointers. No, it's not just because I was a girl. They know that they are lucky in that one of their classes is about skydiving. But, after talking to them about what they go through for it, I decided that I was much luckier for going to Purdue and having to pay for most of my jumps. Sheesh. They weren't dickheads at all. They were some of the nicest people I met at Collegiates. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Almost 7 years ago, cancer took away one of my good friends during a camping trip that he was supposed to have gone with us on but had to miss out on. I cried alone in my room for a few hours at night with all of the lights off and listening to "Angel Standing By." I cried with my best friend at their church while we lit a candle for him. The hardest part about his loss was that he was only 17, and he was such an amazing person....brilliant, wanted to save endangered animals so he was going into marine biology, etc. During this time I came across such attention seekers. A girl who had a "friend" die a year prior (she knew him for a total of a week before he died...and they had maybe talked to each other for 20 mins) started talking about her "friend" nonstop. A lot of people were comforting me, and she wanted that same comfort. She liked attention, and she saw that a few of us were getting a lot of "attention" because of our friendships with Nick. Basically, it's called the human race. Try not to let it upset you too much. Character "flaws" are something that you can rarely change. If someone wants attention, that's not something that you're going to be able to fix by saying that it's bad they want attention. That's something they're going to have to want to change themselves. I learned that 7 years ago. People will do desperate and seemingly disgusting things (exaggerating about the loss they feel for a death) for attention. It didn't affect the sadness and the sweetness of the memories that I have with Nick. Try not to let it affect you either. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

and yet its still nothing compared to Kerry's list. So, just because you think he isn't as bad as Kerry, you think he's good? This is why your logically is seriously flawed. Those who "support" Kerry at least admit that he's not the ideal candidate. Most who support Bush are actually supporting him...that's what I find most scary. It's one thing to say that "He's not as bad as...." It's sad to see that people actually like Bush. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Sorry...doesn't work this time! If I stick it out until March, I get three months severance. My agony pays off in the end. Otherwise, yes, I would look for a new job. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning -

Except time away from work would mean that they would take our alcohol away. That's an unfavorable consequence. Once again, this would not work because they would be taking sex away. I want them to give me something that I already like! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
