BWAHAHAHAHA! What happens when I change my last name to Goodbody? There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
-
Oh, I get it. The only opinion that shows understanding and intelligence is the opinion that agrees with yours. Ok. wow. No....MissKriss (I believe) took on a different name when she got married. Rosa said that she would. They don't agree with me. They understand, however. Jesus. People need to take courses in logic. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
-
Why, you seem to have a very hard time with it. I do? Huh???? There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
-
Yay! You understand!
-
well if thats why..then at least they did it for all the right reasons... and it should last an eturnity Uhh...no. They got married because they love each other an insane amount. They have the best relationship of anyone I know. It was a joke. Lighten up. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Okay, I will pick a new word. Saying that I will probably change my mind about changing my last name if I meet the right guy is illogical. It is illogical to think that me keeping my name should be hard on anyone. It is illogical to do something for the sake of tradition. It is illogical to tell me what will be hard on my kids if I ever have them. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

. and...HUH???? I know quite a few people who get married because it makes sense. It makes many things (buying a house) easier. Financially, you're better off. Plus, my brother and his wife got about $50,000 worth of stuff for getting married! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
-
No it's not. I second that! Plus, I would gladly pay it for them. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
-
Well, I just figured that if I ever had kids, they'd get a hyphenated name until they decided which name to keep. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

I have one exception. I will take the last name of Goodbody if I should ever find a man with that last name! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Uhh...no. For example, Rosa said that she would change her name. I respect her opinion and decision. That's fine and great. It's definitely not my thing, and trying to say that when I meet the right man, what would I do...that's pure crap. Trying to say that it could potentially hurt someone that I'd marry because I won't take their name...that's crap. Trying to talk about the traditon of it...that's crap. There are good reasons to take a name. I respect those reasons. People have posted many crappy reasons for taking a name, though. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

I call lots of things crap. It's my favorite word! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

What if my name is extremely important to me? Why should kids automatically get his last name? I never understood that either. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
-
Uhh..it was in response to someone trying to tell me that I should have more respect for the tradition and blah blah blah. I tried to spell it out further for them of why I'm not going to swoon over the unity and tradition and crap. They said that if I found someone and was going to marry someone who that stuff was important to, they said that I should have more respect for it. I disagree. I respect it being another person's opion...just as they should respect my opinion. I shouldn't respect their opinion more because they have tradition backing theirs. Like I said, adapting a last name is like adapting his hair color. I don't get the point, and I like both my name and hair color! So, I guess, to me, it's as valid as changing my hair color to match his. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

I wonder if you'll be saying that when you find your Man of your dreams. Maybe You'll take on Romeo's last name if he Swept you off your feet.... Like in one of those cheesy Romance novels you buy at the super market. Eh? Uhh...yeah. And, he knows. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Taking my name isn't a requirement, but if someone really wants unity/symbollism/blah blah blah/other crap I don't need, then don't expect me to change my name for your needs. You are more than welcomed to change your own name to fit your needs. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Has the bonfire become a desperate popularity contest?
Vallerina replied to funks's topic in The Bonfire
So...have we decided who's winning the contest yet? There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning -
And if I ever thought of marrying someone who thought of the symbollism and unity and crap as important, they'd be more than welcome to take my name.
-
Yup! My best friend Erin literally got shoved one time by some really mean women because their "men" were checking her out. As always, beautifully written! Mel, you rock! You are so gorgeous, and you look frickin' HOT in the sky!!! (Just my way to get you to post more pics!) There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
-
Oh, this sort of thing is definitely "to each their own!"
-
Yeah, I'm not into the symbolic mumbo jumbo. I'm not changing my hair color to match someone's to show that we're together. I find changing the last name to be the same sort of thing. Like I said, if he likes the what it represents, that's fine. He's more than welcome to take my name! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
-
Heck no!!! I wish my parents would've give me the choice as to what my name should be!!!! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Happy Birthday, Sparky!!!!!!
