I was a headbanger in highschool and college but it wasn't the "radio friendly" music. There was a completely underground music that was headbangin. We called the shit you saw on MTV & heard on the radio "poser music" I still have a pair of tickets to Cardi's here in Houston for Poison. This is now defunct metal club. But back in the late 80s it was a happening club. Was before they had a hit, they showed up wearing more makeup then my gf and wearing womens underwear. It was really sad. We drank a few huricanes and moved to a better see a better show. I'll admit I don't miss the 80's and all the "hairbands" I do miss some of the music, and some of the great bands that when under the radar. Metal was more then what you saw on MTV or heard on the radio. Go get some old Pantera - Cowboys from Hell ... it will rock your world today. Vulgar Display of Power (92) will make your speakers melt. rip Dime Pick up Metallica's Ride the Lightining or Kill'um All, even Master of Puppets. That stuff is timeless. Rock at the core. Never did they get played on the radio or MTV. Until later in their carreer. They lived on the road and made their fans via the underground. Word of mouth.. DeN I'm very familiar with the way "race cars" are built. Even have some experience with road cars. My whole deal is with stock cars running a road course. Really good racing is the scattered dirt tracks. That's just a fun time. I also enjoy the shit out of NHRA Drag racing. I used to drive a street bracket car. You're in a similar prediciment. Oh and I know no one was bashing anyone. I tend to get defensive when my country and specially when Texas is involved. I'm not a huge fan of flag waving patriotism but I do support my country and state. Seeing as it was a question from a non-us poster. Some posters in the states are tired of non-us citeziens bashing us for things our of our control. Granted we vote and normally support our goverment. But 99.9% of the things our voted in goverment does is 100% out of our control. So we take the brunt of the critism when overseas or even on our own streets. This tends to make being an american being defencive of the country we're from.
