Please share with us what higher purpose your participation in Speakers Corner serves. Please enlighten us. -
right you are, as I stated in my first post - 'every man for himself' is not a way to run a country, it's a way to run an anarchy It's a miracle we survived for over 230 years!!! without universal healthcare. Miraculous!

Like who? Specifically? Anyway, aren't the Democrats supposed to be in control of Congress?

Please show me where I said the entire AIDS epidemic is the fault of the church. Oh wait, you can't because you just made it up. LOL Ironic. -

Assuming the worst. So predictable. Well, when you so rarely fail to disappoint... You do seem inclined to use of that broad brush. -
Consensus on Anthropogenic Global Warming?

What are you talking about? When did I claim "hyperbole for the sake of emphasis"? -

If unions have management by the balls, shame on the management. Management's job is to manage the company, including its unions. How simplistic. -

Can you explain why AIDS is a much bigger problem in Africa compared to North America or Europe? Why do a third of deaths caused by AIDs occur in sub-Saharan Africa? -
Consensus on Anthropogenic Global Warming?

Something about your posts reminds me of the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Something about your's reminds me of Oceania's Ministry of Truth. "Where's my jet?" That's all you've got? An obvious joke? How about: Colin Powell attempted to cover up the My Lai massacre... The New York Times was blocked by the NSC from publishing a story they wished to print. "real revenues have NOT gone up." opponents of a referendum to raise minimum wage in Florida claimed hundreds of thousands of jobs would lost if the effort passed. "Well, it is a fact that in Gulf War I, 38% of British fatalities were killed by US forces. " Ministry of Truth, indeed. -

Yes, I believe that if the Vatican changed its stance on condom use then a whole lot of people in high AIDS risk areas will be more likely to use condoms, and more receptive to safe sex campaigns. Look, your stance in this thread is that if the Church can't make people obey every single one of their commands to the letter, then the Church must not have any influence over peoples behaviour at all. Do I really need to point out (again) what a complete load of bullshit that is? Jakee - hater of all things associated with Christianity and the Church. You're so consistent. What drives this sentiment? -

Consensus on Anthropogenic Global Warming?
NCclimber replied to NCclimber's topic in Speakers Corner
But here here you use it in place of Anthropogenic Global Warming: It's not the first time you've gone with the "Deniers don't believe climate change exists" tact. I'm reminded of the time you wrote: "The science is settled" - regarding AGW When pressed, you offered up a bunch of facts, that aren't being questioned by AGW skeptics!!! In other words - "The science is settled" about overall global warming.... but not about anthropogenic global warming! -
Student tazered at public Kerry speech

What you're saying is they should have known beforehand and stepped on his rights to free speech before he ever asked a question, instead of allowing him a voice? From what I saw, it wasn't his questions that got him in trouble, but his behavior. -

Yes, it could have. I would have let the man speak. Even though he was obviously being an obnoxious, antagonistic asshole? Sure... let one asshole dictate the meeting, at the expense of everyone interested in productive dialogue. Brilliant. -
Shitty analogy. You can choose not to drive a car. You can't choose not to be sick. Yeah, comparing mandatory collision insurance to Hillary's program, is a crappy analogy. Apples and oranges.

Nice call. To the 19 posters who were bearish, do you still think things are bad?

NCclimber replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
Please. Sure it does. He wasn't a dangerous armed criminal. He's a journalism student. Standing in front of him and saying "you are under arrest" and then reading his rights might have been a good start. Also, unless you are an aggressive threat to the officers (swinging a fist or object or holding a weapon) taser is not justified. If he goes to the ground, pull the arms back and cuff him. Had he taken an aggressive stance or attempted to fight in an offensive manner, the taser would be more appropriate. But I maintain that bad police work escalated the situation and the whole thing could have been handled without the forthcoming lawsuits. If only you had been there.... this whole unfortunate scene could have been avoided. -

So exactly how should an Officer that trying to contain a suspect that is fighting back? Just wrestle him till taps out? SOMEHOW the cops managed to arrest people before the taser was invented. Yeah. They should have just clubbed (or maced) him. -
Sounds like a job for the McKenzie Brothers

Who's bitching? Warpedskydiver is evidently not too happy about it. Then again he seems to think its better to invade Poland than stand up for one's principles so I probably shouldn't take him too seriously. Speaking of hyperbole. What hyperbole? He has spelled out quite clearly that in his opinion answering the draught is more important than political protest, even in Nazi Germany. If you say so.
