  1. The effect of rising CO2 concentrations dimish as they go up. That is to say that a rise from 100 ppm to 200 ppm has far more effect than 300ppm to 400 ppm. But you know that. Your wording sounds alarmist though. I was wondering about that "progressively more" business. Depends how you cherry pick, adjust and present the data. The commonly used graph of CO2 levels taken at the Mauna Loa Observatory has a nice steady continuous incline... but the global temps from 1960 (where the CO2 graph starts) to the late 70s stayed in a sideways channel. Hmm
  2. And we have a big "whoosh" going out to our listener Billvon. LOL This is fun.
  3. Cute Bill. Did you make that up all by yourself?
  4. I'm guessing some think they can be more effective fighting the system from the inside.
  5. And your last three posts were on topic??? You crack me up. Here, let me try one of your recent tactics - You started it!!! Anyway, who gives a shit if our scientists are a humorless lot?
  6. Yesterday, you were complaining about an article titled "Syria fires on Israeli Planes". You were complaining about it's misleading nature. Here, you post an article, of which the title basically says anyone critically of Israeli policy is automatically labelled an anti-Semite. Also, here's a recent post of your's: Do unto others...
  7. How much has Exxon given to deniers? $1,600,000 to the American Enterprise Institute alone, $2M to the CEI. That whole "well, Johnny did it first" style of childish (il)logic just so lame. You're Ph.D., right?
  8. This is a general statement, without specific parameters. It's about something that is "the norm", not "the exception". This is an example of "the exception".... used to somehow disprove "the norm". It's kind of like saying Global Warming is not occurring because it snowed in southern California last week.
  9. Missing the obvious, again? Tsk, tsk. Here you go: http://www.notesinthemargin.com/archives/392
  10. Just because the rooster crows at dawn....
  11. LOL I love this stuff! "Shortly after the massacre"? like the dust was still settling when Powell looked into a non-specific claim? My Lai happened in March '68. Powell didn't even get to Vietnam (actually he was returning) until four and a half months later. Yeah - this guy's really unbiased. And you keep trying to back up this unproven myth.

    The War

Focusing on our leadership screw-ups? I'm shocked.
  13. LOL I love this shit! Pure gold! And check out what sourcewatch has to say about one of the authors of that piece. http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Ted_Sampley
  14. ROTFLMAO I'd love to heard more on this. From a public persona, they are night and day. If you look at Nixon's presidency with the exception of Watergate, it was an incredibly good one. He got us out of Vietnam, ended the draft, opened relations with China, took us off the gold standard, began the OEO, the EPA and the NOAA. Please tell us why you think Bush and Nixon are so similar.
  15. If you read them, you will know. Is this like that Colin Powell / My Lai nonsense you were claiming a while back?
  16. Do either of the stories you posted show who followed this woman?
  17. Maybe that's why it's called NEWS and not OLDS. Funny and original. Good work, Dr. Kallend
  18. http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2005/06/23/EDG11DC9BK1.DTL "We just don't have the money" to care for them??? Well, then don't accept responsibility for their well being!!!
  19. Funny how these "drama du joir" type stories fall off the radar once thier shock value drops. Thanks for the update. Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
  20. I'd like to no more about these foreign companies that have glass ceilings for Americans... and examples of wholesale layoffs where the old positions are filled completely with foreigners. Are the incentives for foreign companies really different from incentives offered to relocating or expanding US companies?
  21. This part of the forum rules seemed fitting for this thread. Billvon tells me if I'm really really good, I may qualify for my junior moderator learners permit.
  22. In general, it's pretty smarmy. Even with profitable companies, the rising ratio of CEO pay to average employee pay has gotten way out of hand. However, when a company shows improvement and it's shown that top management was key, they should be compensated. Another thing to consider is capable CEOs are a pretty rare commodity. The marketplace essentially dictates how much they are paid.
