Exactly. All the criticism, both direct and comparative, of New Orleans, and its residents, and its mayor, etc., in the wake of Katrina has definite racist undertones. These e-mails are just one installment in the process. But it's oh-so-taboo to say it aloud now isn't it? People see what they want to see. Believe it or not, there are people out there who are capable of discussing Katrina, New Orleans and the aftermath without dragging race/racism into it. You mean the ones who view it as 'well, golly gee, they were both fives'?

Hmm interesting.. so would you agree that entitlements in the form of FEDERAL tax dollars spent on welfare in the states is high in only the Democratic blue states????? I think you have ANOTHER FALACY going on Mike... http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/show/266.html Please note the preponderance of the money that goes to OH MY GOD.. red states.... and the Faith Based inititives... would also increase the welfare entitlements to MORE RED states. Notice on this map where the Federal government spends more in RED states... than in Blue states... http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.rothcpa.com/archives/misc/redblue.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.rothcpa.com/archives/000589.php&h=600&w=800&sz=19&tbnid=x_zD6hf7c8FjLM:&tbnh=107&tbnw=143&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dred%2Bstates&start=2&sa=X&oi=images&ct=image&cd=2 And then notice the second map down... where the RED States in the voting in the last presidential election... BLows the shit out of that whole democratic base shit now dont it. Your link addresses Total federal dollars per state. Are you saying all federal spending should be considered welfare, as the concept of welfare is being discussed in this thread?
-
Isn't that basically the same thing as food stamps?
-
I think our esteemed President Carter received a significant amount of federal subsidies to not grow peanuts. Maybe we should pay Ford not to make cars. They lose money on every one anyway. Maybe we should pay university professors not to teach. Or is that already a part of the system?

Who here thinks Congress ACTUALLY believed the Bush Lies?
NCclimber replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
Funny how there were (supposedly) about 50% of the voters voting for Bush, yet you can only find 3 guys and 3-legged dog now willing to admit voting for him. Didn't we go over this last week? About the bullshit claim that no one is now willing to admit they I voted for Bush? I voted for Bush. Perhaps you can produce some evidence of Republicans now claiming they never voted for Bush. Right. you said three (out of 60 million!!!) This makes no sense. Nice backpedal. Well, I don;t think they're a bastard. All joking aside, are you proud of the SUBSTANTIAL movement of this country? List all of the things that make you proud over the last 6 years and explain how the various parties or politicians have made it happen. Be sure to include the deficit / debt. What's pure nonsense? The country being in an illegal war? The debt being so high taht it can't possibly ever rescind? That Bush lied about via at least suppression of intel, the claim of WMD's? I'm just dying to hear what is nonsense. I'm talking about your dishonest stereotyping of anyone who voted for Bush... not Bush's record. Sorry you seem to have difficulty making that distinction. -
Why do Atheist/Unbelievers always clash heads with Christians?

The belief makes the abuse possible. The stronger and more precisely defined the belief, the easier the abuse becomes. Nice rationalization. -

Hitler used it very well. As did FDR, JFK, Patrick Henry, Churchill....... -
"You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The best known of course is, 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia!'"
-
Hey look, I've found a group with lots of power that plays the victim card waaaay more often than the gay lobby! "Please sir, please sir, the Heathens are coming!"
-
I didn't compare the impact, I compared the citizens actions. Do you not see a difference in how the two populations reacted? Perhaps that had more to do with the impact of the two disasters. Hunkering down and just waiting it out wasn't really an option in NO.
-
Bad anology. The storm that hit Denver (basically) caused everyone a major inconvenience. Comparing the impact on Denver's citizens to Katrina's impact on NO is like comparing a sprained ankle to a compound fracture.

You keep trying to group me in with a pretty scare, mostly ficticious group. Is there any justification for doing so.... other than I disagree with your (arguably) extremist views? Funny how there were (supposedly) about 50% of the voters voting for Bush, yet you can only find 3 guys and 3-legged dog now willing to admit voting for him. Didn't we go over this last week? About the bullshit claim that no one is now willing to admit they I voted for Bush? I voted for Bush. Perhaps you can produce some evidence of Republicans now claiming they never voted for Bush. What I find silly is the paranoid claim that anyone who voted for Bush is an ultra-conservative, neo-con, fascist, civil rights stealing, fundamentalist, cold-hearted, bastard moron. You guys seem to lap this stuff up... even though it's pure non-sense. -
Oh great! You're comparing Christianity to pornography and profanity. Lovely. All religions are cults? You should have someone explain the difference between the two. Thankfully, you didn't say "Fuck you, Aryan coward." or "Cowards for Jesus!" To summarize, you're basically saying - Christianity is a fucked up religion, full of fucked up people... and while I'm exercising my First amendment right to thrash Christians and Christianity, all you Christians should just shut your fucking mouths!!! Is that about it?
-
The delusional fantasy was your bullshit claim about all those "right-wingers who can't admit that more people voted for Gore than for Bush" It's about reading comprehension, sporto.
-
And Michael Moore is just a documentary film-maker. Here's what wikipedia has to say about the man: Just stating the "history of Christianity". Riiiiight From what little I've read about the man, it certainly seems like undermining Christianity was a driving force in his life. Why don't we find modern day sources making the claim of "nine million deaths in the Crusades"? Maybe it's because that claim was made by a biased source and subsequent scholars of the Crusades saw it for what it was.
-
Actually, it claims The book was written over 100 years ago. I guess there hasn't been much written in the last 100 years supporting him 9 million deaths claim. And yes I'm aware of the irony here.

Wiggle wiggle wiggle.. squirm squirm squirm.....So its a lie to say the Republicans have run things the way they have wanted for the last 6 years???? Just about everything you guys have had in your wet dreams you have enacted.... if you could have gotten away with all of the fascist kabalistic crap that this Administration sees as its mandate from the Neo-Cons and the Religeous Wrong.. they would... no restraint whatsoever... DRINK THE RED KOOLAID all you want.. it will not make this a better country to live in. You keep trying to group me in with a pretty scare, mostly ficticious group. Is there any justification for doing so.... other than I disagree with your (arguably) extremist views? -
What objective reference? I did a google search for the book and author cited. I got nothing. As far as the "28 percent having 1,000 or more sex partners" claim goes... it's from " A Study of Diversity Among Men and Women ", published by Simon & Schuster. I think it's available at the San Francisco library.
-
You're the one who was using these numbers to debate. Cant have it both ways bud... What do you mean? I posted the findings, said I can't vouch for them. Has anyone providing anything to show that the findings were flawed? Not that I've seen. Personally, I think the findings are extreme, but it doesn't upset my worldview if they are true. It's funny to watch how some people react when these taboo subjects get brought up.
-
Oh look. Another childish attempt to shoot the messenger. I guess actually producing something to refute the findings is out of the questions.
-
My personal opinion is that the reason the rest of the world hates the US so much, is because they're jealous of our big cohones and wish they could be as badass as we are. FUCKIN' A, BUBBA
-
No backpedaling. I put qualifiers on those studies from the get go. Sorry you missed them. I notice you've been calling people out for using logical fallacies, in other threads. Can you tell me which fallacies are being used below? Nice job of attacking the messenger, while doing nothing to refute the message.
