UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR!!!
-
I should get all my news from you. you seem to know about so much that no one else is reporting.
-
We just package it better these days. Even sheep are too smart to believe that.

Gee what do you think might be in YOUR dossier.... East German STASI had files on everyone . We have numerous companies who have compiled every purchase you make where you live.. what you own... what you eat...and what religeous affiliation..etc.. etc...and the government taps into that whenever it wants. It paints an interesting picture of any American. Once they are accessed by the government who do you thnk they are maintained by???? Add to that.. any information already in your file from military..or civil records....and anything they might have picked up from some of the wirtetapping etc that has been going on... Oh yes.. lets add police incursions based on BAD intelligence.. that just happens to blow away a little old lady in her home.....So basically they can break down your door on suspicion you MIGHT have some WEED.... and they executed her for what.. some stupid drug law... that is overreaction...and should scare the crap out of any american. She just happened to live in a bad area of town.... and shot at the men who broke into her house. Just little things like that. Are you saying life in the US is like Cold War East Germany?
-
Just like the things happening here? Could you provide some examples? Nicaragua? East Germany? Cuba? I seriously doubt any of the dictatorships and juntas of the last 30 years resemble present day USA.... unless you're comparing the norm in those countries to rare exceptions here.
-
Is this a trick question?
-
That my NEO CON detractor extraordinaire.. is when I start shooting.. Hooray for the Second Amendment.

What sins has, say, a one month old baby committed? Greed. I want to eat now. I want to sleep now. I want to poop now and have you clean it up. I want ... Silly. What is silly is the number of people on this forum who jump at the chance to attack Christians and/or Christianity on a regular basis. It seems like some of the same people who preach a "live and let live mantra" are particualrly vicious in attacking or demeaning all things Christian. Bummer.
-
And don't forget about all those people who bad-mouthed Bush, Cheney, Republicans... etc. They'll all be rounded up and put in labor camps. Grey skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face..

Here's an excerpt from a column I read yesterday. The fact that he says he wants to move beyond the petty bickering of both sides compels me to like him. Now - If can walk his talk for the next 21 months.

Here's a classic from Lucky. Who cares about what is talked about, what impact did these moves have on the country? Clinton's presidency was awesome, it was like the roaring 20's in that people were finally happy, the ruch as well as the poor were prosperous. The mood was that of less opression too. Perhaps the moralists were unhappy, but I say, "Fuck them." Like what? Gave rights to gays in the military? Why is the reasoning so important? I think it's important to reason well to make sound decisions, but to dislike he reasoning and like he reult is very semantic. Shouldn't we demand sound decisions and positive results from our leaders? Totally agree. Add that to my list. At the same time, GHW Bush had his NRA card revoked for his measures and GW Bush said he would sign the AWB if Congress put it thru, fortunately they did not. This is somethng many leaders do to revoke power from the masses, not excusable, but not limited to Clinton. What you're asking for is an impossibility. There is really no way to sort them out and to refuse help for the needy to reject help for the lazy is, well, very Republican. Just as the Repubs don't care about executing innocent people, they focus on executing the guilty calling the few innocent condemned, "collateral damage" as if they were McVeih's brother. So you would rather starve out the needy to the prevent the lazy? If my party fucked the economy the way yours has I would avoid too. Perhaps I would switch parties, which is what I did do. That's teh old expression that I think is now defunct. Not vetoing 1 bill for almost 6 years defines how 1 person do a lot, even if by way of doing nothing. Cutting taxes, increasing spending. So are you saying the trainwreck that incidentally has occurred during the Reagan, Bush, Bush years, versus the fiscal dream that just accidentally occured during the Clinton years establish nothing? Please. So Bush's multi-100 billion$$$ giveaway had ni efect on the fiscal gov? Nice. 1993 Omnibus Spending Bill had no effect? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, the pres sits there and waits for his term to end. YAWN. He far from left it alone, but I see it makes the argument the best if we can pretend he sat there waiting for head all the time. I don't expect to change anyone's mind, I just get amused by the Repubs trippoing, gagging and changing what they can to try to avoid this: http://www.cedarcomm.com/~stevelm1/usdebt.htm PURE COINCIDENCE.... even tho there is great repeatability. Classic

Can anyone explain how the US went from the world's greatest creditor nation to the world's greatest debtor nation? I'm not looking for political finger pointing, but rather the economic and policy factors that caused this this dramatic change. Anyone?

I do hope you decide to become a regular in this forum.

Perhaps it was a metaphor. -
How is McCain's consistent position of "we need more troops" revisionism?
-
Without knowing the particulars of this bill, I'll say any kind of retroactive measure to recoup royalties that some claim the governemtn should have been paid. However, our leaders should now come up with a program that remedies this problem going forward. While this is a prominent topic, I wonder if anyone in Congress will shed some light on why it took so long for this screwed up situation to get attention. Crude was as high as $36.90 in 2000, $39.90 in 2003 and the last time crude was below the magical $34.00/barrel was in April 2004.

so, this rare moment alone convinced you to vote for Bush? I think he was saying Kerry's plastic response truned him away from Kerry. The classic example of how a single phrase can have an impact was Reagan's "There you go again". This past Fall, I voted for Bill Glass (D) for US House.

This one's off the irony scale. Dizzying.
-
It looks like Lincoln.. re-enlisted twice....for 3 terms.... was actually in harms way during the Indian wars and got to see first hand .. the dead who he helped to bury... and.... SERVED OUT ALL OF HIS TERM OF SERVICE. I'm getting dizzy.
-
There have been a couple of Right wingers who did exactly that. Its part of the who you are either with us or you are against us mentality. So, since "a couple of Right wingers" have demonstrated this kind of flawed thinking, you think it's acceptable for you to do the same on a regular basis?
-
So, I guess famous Americans like Presidents Lincoln and FDR are hypocrites of the highest order. And Clinton (the dodgy draft dodger), too. Did you hear he got a blow job? Lincoln served during the Black Hawk War of 1832. Was Lincoln's 90 days of combat-free service any more noteworthy than Bush's ANG service? How so? Oh. I thought he was appointed Assistant Secretary of the Navy before the start of WWI. He volunteered in 1917? Got a link?

Sadly, there are a number of SC posters who seem unable to make this distinction. what distinction? aren't they the EXACT same thing Right. Kind of like saying anyone opposed to the adminstration's treatment of Gitmo detainees is a supporter of Osama bin Laden.
