  1. In my example, no. The idea that hell is getting closer and making the earth warmer is an objective issue. It either is or it isn't. Really no different than many of the claims made on this site about the neo-cons or about Bush turning this country into a fascist police state... blah, blah, blah.. blah, blah.
  2. This says nothing about cross burning in 2007!!! If your saying he goes to cross burnings on a regular basis, I say... BULLSHIT!!! BULLSHIT!!! BULLSHIT!!!
  3. Nice dodge. How unsurprising. FYI I did a google search for holocaust denial and cross burning. I went through the first two pages and didn't find a single site about skin-heads or aryan nations. You do have an active imagination.
  4. And which SOTUA was this? Do you have an actual date?
  5. Oh I'm sorry. I didn't realise that believing the earth is getting warmer because hell is getting closer makes sense to you. What are you saying? That anyone with any implausible beliefs is indisputably a madman (or madwoman)? There are degrees of implausibility, to this degree - yes it is mad. Any more so than what we regularly hear from hard leaning political ideologues?
  6. To a parent that takes his children to cross lightings on Saturday night it certainly is....and holds just about as much weight as this fathers opinions. Are you talking about real people? Or is this just an imaginary "what if"?

  8. As long as its just a guess then I'm sure it won't. (You may well be right, I just hate it when people say "I guess" or "I bet" and then act as if they've just demonstrated something.) But it is more honest than claiming everyone on the planet is "flying about in... SUVs"
  9. About foreclosures Non-Farm payrolls have added 3,800,000 new jobs in the past two years. That's the net gain, folks. Average hourly wages increased 4.2% in December 2006 (over December 2005). The highest increase during Clinton's tenure was 4.4%. I can see why people think things are so dire.
  10. What are the other causes of global warming? Cow farts, for the most part. Well obviously, I can see how 1.5 billion farting cows would out-pollute 6.5 billion humans flying about in jet liners and SUVs. 6.5 billion humans do not fly about in jets and drive SUV's. Some do, but not all 6.5 billion. I'm guessing less than 1% of the world's population flies in a given year..... not that this should get in the way of anyone's righteous indignation.
  11. What are the other causes of global warming? Natural cycles. Solar variations. If you can figure out why we're not still in the Ice Age, you'll know answer.
  12. The response to the Washington Post piece is embarassing. then later... Goes to credibility.
  13. Hint; do NOT look for them on www.whitehouse.gov, they've been removed, white washed and expunged from the web site. I found direct links to the ones from 2006 and 2005, and the press release to the one in 2003. His first four are presented only as pictures from him practicing for them. Luckily there are plent of places on the web to find the ones from the first four years (the 'cache' option on google is an amazing option). But I did find it interesting that the first four were removed. Yeah. I couldn't find them, either. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/inaugural-address.html http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/01/20020129-11.html http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/01/20030128-19.html http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/01/20040120-7.html
  14. January 20, 2001 ??? I don't think Inaugural Addresses are considered SOTUAs.
  15. You are going to tell me about economic indicators? And just what economic indicators are you talking about, the stock market? How much richer a few rich people in this country keep getting? Perhaps you can provide us with some recognized economic indicators that illustrate your assertion that things are so bad in this country.
  16. One big difference is there are numerous Islamic societies that embrace these "barbaric" practices, whereas, I don't think there are any Christian ones. Oh, is that right? No Christian ones????? "I am sick of this life. I dont want to live another 10 days in this life" -Reverend Jim Jones, Jonestown, prior to the slaying of over 900 members of his congregation, mostly with forced injestion of sodium cyanide. Was Reverend Jim Jones a Muslim? No, he wasnt. He was a Christian. Was his group recognized as being Christian by any Christian organizations? With the world being so populous, off course you're going to find some gross distortions of any major religion. My point was about acceptable practices, that are considered barbaric by Western values, that are fairly common throughout the Muslim world.
  17. According to who? Cite? This is a lie! Source please.
  18. I don't think there are many people who believe Saddam was honest about anything, including WMDs. The premise for the invasion was a supposed threat of a mushroom cloud in the US, as paraphrased from another State of the Union. That threat, to me, was a big lie, but one that sold the American public on the necessity of invading Iraq. That statement was a lie then, is a lie now, but Bush needed that lie to be able to invade under the resolution as voted and passed. What statement are you talking about, specifically? This one? “The British Government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa .” Here's a link: http://www.factcheck.org/article222.html
  19. I was being sarcastic. So.... you think parents should be able to send their children off to war, do you?
  20. I grew up watching panels on Nightline after the SOTUA, its nothing new. I was talking about immediately afterwards... during prime time. It's no biggie. No. But I remember the Dems booing two years ago. I guess you're not going to offer up any follow up on your - "If the reaction is 100% negative that is a red flag that something is very wrong with the administration."
  21. It goes to the frequently made claim that Bush intentionally lied about Saddam had WMDs. Good point about clear and present danger, though. As I saw it, whether or not Saddam had WMDs, there was little danger of him successfully sending one our way.
  22. Actually I EXPECT academic institutions to PRESENT controvercial subjects... Like why it's in our best interests to support imperialist endeavors abroad, especially when it comes to securing resources to protect our long term energy needs???
