  1. I finally watched the scene with the correct subtitles. I am not sure if I could get as much out of a parody now that I actually know what he is saying, and know that what he is saying is not as crazy as it feels it is when you are just listening to the words. I feel I could finally appreciate the acting.
  2. I loved this Sunday comic from Jef Mallet. The visual design; the subtle play on words.
  3. Give it some more time, it has been getting better. Also I kinda want to keep my GIF signature, as I probably am the only one who will ever have one, based on the restrictions now in place and how I seem to be grandfathered in. But all good things must end, so I will eventually return to my normal PSA: "It's flare not flair, brakes not breaks, bridle not bridal, "could NOT care less" not "could care less".
  4. I think a signature should not take up more than X pixels of vertical space, and be static (no gifs). if you made a small font you could put more text in. Failing that, limiting it to a certain number of characters and a fixed font size would be a good idea.
  5. Go to your Profile>Settings>Signatures and turn off the "View Signatures." Can you have gifs in signatures?
  6. People who write "burro" when they mean "burrow" Clearly don't know their ass from a hole in the ground
  7. I just spot-checked 3 other forums I use, and they all have post counts. The post count number on all three is also a perma-link for the post, which you have as the "share this post" feature. I also vote to bring back a post count.
  8. I can support that, although since this entire site is deader than heaven on a saturday night, allowing them until they become a problem is fine with me too. At least in Skydiving General, which is a little more free wheeling than the topical subforums.
  9. Yeah, as it is said, "if you are not paying for a product, you are the product". The site is designed to be ad-supported, so it is in the best interest of site management to make it as user-friendly as possible to increase number of users, and time users spend on the site. And we the users are the ultimate judge of what is user-friendly, so it is better for us to recommend changes than just quietly stop using the site. I also appreciate the responsiveness to suggestions that I am seeing.
  10. For sure, but with the fake news sites / news reports it sounded like they could be in Billy's "You can't make this up" thread. Of course you CAN make it up, and it was in those cases, but they would have been far more interesting had they been true...
  11. DJL -- Thanks for taking the heat on this. Yes, that is exactly what my comment addressed. The article mentioned the victim weighed 112 lbs at her last physical Hey I figured out how to get nested quotes. But the delineation between posters is not good. I italicized the inner quote for clarity.
  12. are any of those true? That one sure is not. according to snopes it can be traced back to 1996. I discovered out a new feature by mistake, if you highlight text in a post you can easily selectively quote it when a "quote selection" tooltip pops up.
  13. well facebook.com works just that way, so not really a mistake, more like current tech. You can get to the functions other ways.
  14. all this talk of rights reminds me of (geez can't recall her name. Kristen?)'s sig line from PJ O'Rourke. There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences. I'm not religious, so the rights "we" have and the way we have them are what we decide they should be. God doesn't grant rights, people do. The idea of fundamental rights, or inalienable rights, or just really really important rights, feel to me like matters of degree so that is where the debate here seems to have fallen into mere sematics.
  15. It looks like nested quoting is not possible? that is problematic.
  16. hover over the person's icon at a post and get a pop up with options to ignore or message the person
  17. youtube link streams right from the post. again NICE
  18. I also like the ability to "like" posts. It is an easy way IMHO to give certain posts more weight, helpful in a debate
  19. I would strongly recommend reducing the vertical whitespace though. I imagine it is a simple change.
  20. Preview of first and last post in thread after hover from forum view. NICE.
  21. I can cut-and-paste GIFs and other images. NICE. URLS with preview! NICE
