  1. I say call the dog "Stains" Come stains! Carpe Diem
  2. Ok, here is the other side of the coin. Not as fun to debate....but true non the less. The topic always goes into the negative issues revolving "organized" religion. I'm not a Catholic or anything else for that matter. I am a Christian. Lets talk about the good that Christian charities and the donors that support them actually do. I researched a bit, and could not find the Atheist or Agnostic charity site. Maybe you guys can assist CHARITY! The true example of a Chritstian doing what he has learned from this religion. The majority of these charities operate by people donating thier time. Admin costs are kept a low as possible in MOST cases. Majority are powered by Volunteers - FOR FREE - TO HELP THOSE WHO NEED IT - Bad bad Christians! Give me a break. Get over it already! http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.cause&cgid=6&Submit.x=20&Submit.y=9 All those Christinn donors - what idots for helping - Brainwashed fools I guess - add me to that list! I wonder how much the anti-religion folks here donate or do for the human community around them. Just curious. Carpe Diem
  3. http://www.dfw.com/multimedia/dfw/news/archive/1109Call/index.html Love it! Carpe Diem
  4. "Being Recruited to the Right! Help!" I did not realize that you had to be on the "right" to be a Christian I've met many from both sides. and I agree that the post above is a very logical way of dealing with your issue. Nice one! Carpe Diem
  5. But Iraq had no where near the amount of AQ energy as it has now that that US has invaded. Now I guess the many other terrorist supporting countries are now in our scopes for temporary occupation? Again, not unique. Since this is a top two reason, where next? Africa would be a good start...ready to go there also with the same force? FOR OIL! missing the OIL point. It's not about how much we get from where. It's about who has the largest reserves. Calculate that one Agreed. But to have so many reasons surfacing once one is shot down is shitty! They have been lied to like the US public. Face it. Bush shows a lack of respect for our troops in my opinion. There are many many top key people who are now NOT a fan of what has happened. Powell being one of them. Agreed that we owe respect to our troops for thier sacrifice! The issue most have is that we are at war and we have been seriously mis-lead! That is where I have a major problem. The arrogance and abuse of power on a global level is out of control! I sometimes feel embarrassed to dicsuss this when traveling abroad. The many opinions I have heard from over 20 countries all are the same. "arrogance and abuse of power on a global level " We forget there is a world full of other people. Carpe Diem
  6. OIL is the answer And like it or not, it is more important to the US then we think. Not that I agree with this mess.....but see that value of securing energy for our future. Nasty way of getting it done. Carpe Diem
  7. ......but not electrocuted......scare tactic I see your point. But it seems that majority of what we consider toture is simple rough intimidation. The Chinese, Russians and many African nations could really educate us on what torture really is. Sorry, humiliation, kept in uncomfortable positions, no sleep, etc....not torture in my book Carpe Diem
  8. http://www.radio4all.org/crackcia/torture.htm Deprivation of Sensory Stimuli Threats and Fear, Pain (Pain that is being inflicted upon the subject from outside himself may actually intensify his will to resist. On the other hand, pain that he feels he is inflicting upon himself is more likely to sap his resistance. For example, if he is required to maintain a rigid position such as standing at attention or sitting on a stool for long periods of time, the immediate source of discomfort is not the questioner but the subject himself. After a while, the subject is likely to exhaust his internal motivational strength) Hypnosis and Heightened Suggestibility Narcosis REGRESSION even ...waterboarding Got no problem with any of it to get quality intel ....murder, mamming and perminent detention is where I draw the line Carpe Diem
  9. Oil - Oil has been a major US concern about Iraq in internal and unpublicized documents, since the start of this Administration, and indeed earlier. But the need to dominate oil from Iraq is also deeply intertwined with the defense of the dollar. Its current strength is supported by OPEC's requirement (secured by a secret agreement between the US and Saudi Arabia) that all OPEC oil sales be denominated in dollars. This requirement is currently threatened by the desire of some OPEC countries to allow OPEC oil sales to be paid in euros. http://bakerinstitute.org/Pubs/Studies.htm Good info on understanding geopolitics and energy - MY reason we are in Iraq Carpe Diem
  10. shouldn't this be concrete in the minds of ALL christians from the teaching that they base thier beliefs on? why should it be a challenge for christians to DISCOVER ANEW THE TRUTH? regardless - these are examples of "Christians" that are eco-minded..... What evidence can you present that supports your claims in the start of this thread? Carpe Diem
  11. uh, evidence? this is to easy- trying to stay on topic with these http://www.grinningplanet.com/2004/07-13-2x/christian-stewardship-environmental-article.htm http://www.christianecology.org/ http://www.arcworld.org/faiths.asp?pageID=39 and on and on and on Carpe Diem
  12. So, what really have you done for your fellow humans in suffering. As an agnostic or atheist? We all have the same things to look at. The same things to worry about. Want to help your fellow humans? Maybe the little ones? Try throwing some duckets thier way....contribute to the 48 million this group uses to assist others. http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm/bay/search.summary/orgid/4759.htm or maybe these people http://partners.guidestar.org/controller/searchResults.gs?action_gsReport=1&partner=networkforgood&ein=95-1922279 http://www.worldvision.org and do not foget these ruthless, non caring Christians....greed greed greed http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/www_usn.nsf/vw-dynamic-index/85256DDC007274DF85256B76006FA193?openDocument and if you would have enlightened yourself a bit about what is really happening, you might have come across a organization like this.... http://www.christian-ecology.org.uk/ so...what was your point again? DOD source=possible propaganda? These types of items are generally impossible to categorize with a single truth value because they typically contain a mixture of fact, opinion, subjective statements, inaccuracies, and literally true but often misleading claims. An Iraqi citizen whose response to the earlier piece quoted above was published on the Voices in the Wilderness web site chronicled some of the differences he saw between the claims the pieces offered and his viewpoint as an Iraqi http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/combatend.asp Carpe Diem
  14. I also have a script for Ambien and agree that it is border line wonder drug. Although I took it last night and awoke at 2:00 AM then again at 4:00 Am and up since. I crashed at 10:30. I only take it a few times a month - but am afraid that switching to a non- script (melatonin) would not be effective Carpe Diem
  15. Oh, I guess you simply selected me to respond to because I added "Christian" in my statement? Or was it the provided example of one of the largest fast food chains, controlled by a Christian C.E.O., and how his company supports his employees and the multitude of specific charitable environments he has established with corporate profits and personal wealth? I thought I gave a great example regarding corporate/social responsibility. You seem not to be able to consider the whole picture because of some event that happened to someone you know. Oh well How is that? EXAMPLE? Carpe Diem
  16. Uh, easy there Donkey. Any comments on my example? Or are you still swimming in the delusion that I have some authority to "impose" my views on you? Interesting reaction you had there Carpe Diem
  17. Being a Christian, a stockholder, a father and a citizen, I favor the framework of this corporate example. http://www.chick-fil-a.com/Company.asp WinShape Centre® Foundation was founded 20 years ago by Truett Cathy. The umbrella program encompasses WinShape Homes, which currently operates 14 homes in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and Brazil. Camp WinShape® is a boys and girls summer program at the college, which nearly 1,700 campers from 24 states and two foreign countries attended in 2004. Chick-fil-A separately offers $1,000 college scholarships to its restaurant employees, a 30-year Chick-fil-A tradition that has awarded nearly $20 million in scholarships. Additionally, the WinShape Centre Foundation also operates the WinShape Retreat that highlights a marriage counseling center as the primary focus of the multi-use conference and retreat facility located on the Mountain Campus of Berry College Plus they make a helluva chicken sammy! 18. "...It's easy to imagine an infinite number of situations where the government will legitimately give out false information. It's an unfortunate reality that the issuance of incomplete information and even misinformation by government may sometimes be perceived as necessary to protect vital interests." (former U.S. Solicitor General Theodore Olsen, whose wife Barbara was killed on September 11, 2001) Seems even he is willing to admit that the government WILL LIE and COVER UP....when "they" think it is best. Not saying this story is true......but I pulled my head out of the sand a few years ago.....now I can at least judge in a more realistic fashon Carpe Diem
  19. Overall US-China trade expanded by the largest margin in a decade http://www.uschina.org/statistics/tradetable.html See a trend here? China posted a trade surplus at the end of 2004. The US no where close...... ....no worries Not shut them out - create a "fair" playing field - not a new concept Carpe Diem
  20. Agreed. My issues are with the continued trade deficits we allow. Jobs off shore, cheap chinese goods are just for starters. Can't blame the ChiComs for taking advantage of holes we allow. Sure we're OK. Almost all deficits at all time highs, in red everywhere I turn and it only recently seems like we are ready to do somthing about it. Carpe Diem
  21. http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D8CJCSD86.htm?campaign_id=apn_home_down&chan=db Inflation creeping up - Almost 700 B in trade deficit this year! SHIT! 29 percent increase in deficit with China then last year - Unfair trade policies? How long will this continue? Why did we continue to allow China to flood our markets and destroy American companies? WTF? Carpe Diem
