  1. Good point! Drink MASS quantities of Uzo and Goldschlager and it will be up in no time. OK, I have been sticking my fingers and spoons down my throat, but I still can't throw up. Since I am at work, drinking aforementioned items could be a problem. Any other suggestions on how to throw up? I really don't what to do a Walt, and examine turds for the next week!! J Arch? 2. So, what should I do? Any other suggestions? Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  3. GEEZ, let's just slam someone who has spent a chunk of time working without pay. Did you send a band aid with that slam? Let's just slam people that give freely of there time, without any renumeration. Let me know if you need some first aid for a head cut and ....sigh...OK, cooling down now. I won't give PayPal my bank account number, and I suspect there are others in the same boat. Therefor, Shannon's fund might have had fewer dollars, guessing even fewer dollars than the cut that PayPal took. Are there monthly fee's associated with the PayPal account that Paige has? I sure didn't see Paige charging anything for those type of fees. I admire your jumping after your accident. That's a fantastic accomplishment. I am sad you slammed Paige, and wonder if that is an indication of how you treat people in general? Come on, it's a tough time for many people posting in this thread. Spend some time writing to help make it an eaiser time for those close to Shannon. Jeff Edited to show quoted material. Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  4. Wonder what they would do if a "few" dz.com people wrote them, and asked them to reconsider? I have spent a few bucks via PayPal as has my company, and perhaps we could apply some pressure. Maybe even write the parent company, ebay. Want to provide an address of the person who refused you? J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  5. A Porter needs about 30 feet with no boulders or trees. Blues, Dave I seem to recall a plane landing on the beach one time. Wonder what that's like. Nice long beach, pretty much a straight line. Thirty feet, hahaha! J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  6. Sure, a few people have landed on the very primitve Johns Island runway before...the ends of the runway are quite a bit lower than the middle. Some of the planes were even able to take off again under there own power. Some were taken apart so they could be moved off the island so they could be rebuilt. I was told by one crew taking apart a plane that had landed on Johns, that they kept the bent props as a trophies. Now Stuart Island, to the northwest has a runway, that I could only find a few crash landings on the NTSB web site (funny, I couldn't find any reports for Johns, maybe somebody forgot to notify the FAA) reported. Seems most of the crashes were due to wet turf...not a problem in August, when I spend a couple of weeks on the island. You don't have a problem with beach landings, right? Maybe low tide would be better, cause sometimes there isn't much beach during high tide. I guess if you can stay on the beach, and out of the trees/forest, it would be fine. Long beach, but not all that wide. Of course, I am a student, so anything smaller than the Orting soccer fields looks small to me! Well, OK, the barns weren't bad either, just staying out of the low lying ponds south of the barns was a challenge. So, is 2000 feet of turf on Stuart sufficent for a Porter? Jeff Arch? 7. Washington state has the San Juan islands...and there is a nice little beach front cabin up on one of the itty bitty outer islands, which is only accesible via private boat, float plane, swimming a long distance, or stepping out of a plane and landing on a meadow. As much as I would like to try falling out of a plane, over the island, being a very newbie skydiver it's not going to happen anytime soon. And spending an hour or so underwater in the San Juans is also very nice, maybe not Hawaii, but very nice. Puget sound is also a great place, the old Kapowsin DZ was right next to Mt. Raineer, and I see pictures of the newest DZ, right near the beautifull San Juan's. What more could I ask for? J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  8. Jennr8r, I am in total agreement with you! Never, ever ever. There are ways to prevent that nasty state! Better living through chemistry. J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  9. Becky, thanks for letting your Mom post this one, it did help with the weekend. Now that's what prompted me to respond, I wonder if Becky knows exactly how lucky she is that her grandma is chuckling, and not going ballistic? I mean born again...and she is NOT going ballistic? Wow... Eye-bleaching, I will have to remember that one! Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  10. I really don't enjoy the adrenaline fixes at work, I would prefer to have my fix outside work hours. My work fixes are times when the network turns into a notwork, the phone starts ringing constantly, and a bunch of people are really, really pissed because there programs won't work, cause the server seems to think it's on an island all by itself. I really don't enjoy that. Or one of the PC's at the end of the lines, which count and print varying messages on the boxes decides to quite counting and printing. Sometimes that's more of a heartache, than a adrenaline fix since if I can't fix it reasonably fast, say 10-15 minutes, a bunch of people are going to take a "walk" until I fix the problem child. And the "kind" owner doesn't pay for walks. I enjoy skydiving because of the fun, excitement, maybe even the adrenaline. Or maybe it's that I can't answer the freaking cell phone when I am in the plane, or under a canopy. Maybe that's why I tend to take off weekdays whenever possible, and work a day on the weekend. I am not sure I enjoy the fix as much as I enjoy getting out of work and home, and having fun. J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  11. Walt, I think the only thing worse than folding fitted sheets is trying to use flat sheets every day. They are evil, and time consuming. I think you should also determine how many people fold underware, or match socks? I understand some people, perhaps descendants of Martha, fold the underware before placing in a drawer. Why? Just make sure the drawer is large enough to hold all underware, and don't fold them? Now socks, why on earth would anyone buy more than one type of day to day socks? OK, some people actually have to wear non-white crew socks, and I do feel sorry for them. Everybody else, why wouldn't you go to Costco, and buy two or more bags of socks, and then each week wash and dump in the drawer? And of course, we could talk about towels, but then this lame post would just be even longer. J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  12. Walt Walt, I am worried about the cost of your funeral, if the cemetary people get wind of this thread, your burial plot price might zoom. I suspect people will be dropping turds on your grave, like most people drop flowers. They do have to cover there bio-hazard waste fee's ya know! Jeff Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  13. I was wondering what the risks are if you were to take a tennis ball, golf ball or a super ball and put a string on it. Make the string the length of the proper flare distance, plus the length from feet to brakes, when flying straight ahead without brakes. Once you feel the ball dragging on the ground, you flare. You could also tie the string to the laces on shoes. OK, I can think of a few problems. Golf ball wouldn't be good to drop from height. Tennis ball might get in the way. Super ball might work. What to do with ball before landing pattern time? What if the ball were to tangle with lines or something else? (could you use reserve red thread so it would just break away?) Any way to make this work? Would anyone want to? As a student with few standup landings, I wouldn't mind letting a ball help me gauge the distance. Jeff Arch? 14. New rules, if you pick two, you must specify which two...although depending on who's around, it might not be hard to guess. Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  15. is minimal compared to the next seven years it will stay on your credit report, after you pay the bill...unless you can work a deal, saying the won't report it. And unless it's in writing, it's worthless. Good idea to check the statue of limitations...if it's out of SOL, and you owe the money, and want to pay, work a deal, but again, in writing. Usual disclaimers apply. J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  16. I didn't know JENNR8R was LDS...they are the only one's who belive in redemption through works, right? A lot of people I know belive God will let you into Heaven if you have faith, and belive. J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  17. Chuck, Dylan and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Please post in the days leading up to the surgery and with the results afterwards, when you have a chance. Fighting it since 91, wow that's a long fight. Congratulations on your wins, sounds like you have had quite a few. Keep the fight going this term. I hope your grades are 4.0 this time. Seems that like should be a given, with what you are fighting, but in any case, just keep saluting the Kings and Queens, errr Profs for the rest of the term*. Give Dylan a smile and hug from me, and keep him close to you. Take care, Jeff *You do understand that higher education is a totaltarin, opressive, dicatorial regiem? You have read that joke, right? OK, that's supposed to get you to laugh! Hmm, if you need any more higher ed jokes, let me know! I have a whole bunch of lame higher ed that might give you a laugh. Arch? 18. It would seem Walt has a new web site, good work Walt! http://maketiny.com/21q J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  19. Walt, I am not really surprised that you beat there game. Somehow I just knew you would be good with handwashing...maybe it's something to do with what you choose to take pictures of. DAMN IT WALT. You have just reactivated my obsession with cleaning door knobs. Thanks a bunch, and yes I consider it ALL your fault!!! I work in a fruit packing plant, and I suspect "some" people don't wash there hands after visiting the rest room. Then I think about all the door knobs the aforementioned people touch, and the door to my office, and then I am touching my keyboard, and eating. OK, only hope here is to pass along some fun for you Walt...you do wash your fruit with soap and water before eating them right? Oranges, apples, nectarines, etc.? And scrub them well, just imagine all those hands touching your fruit. Now, I am going to talk with the cleaning people, they need to start washing the door knobs as part of there regular day to day activities...not that I suspect that will elimante all germs, but I suppose will reduce them. Jeff Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  20. Congratulations! I can't imagine the look that will be on your boy's faces! Jeff Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  21. And just WHAT makes you think there's pictures/videos? Dreams, wishful thinking, positive thoughts, hope that exhibishitism is on of your positive qualities! Jeff Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  22. Same for me. They called and I was really hyped. Then after they completed all the HLA typing, I wasn't the best match, I guess. I sure wish I had been the match. One good part is if I am called now, they already know all my HLA, and I must be a good match, or one of a couple of good matches. J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  23. A few times up the tower, I wondered what it'd be like to just hop off with a BASE-parachute rather than climb down . I was on a third story roof without fall protection the other day, wishing I was 14k feet with a rig on my back and outside a plane. J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  24. I back into parking spots for one simple reason. I can see better when leaving the parking spot. Many moons ago I had more than one at fault accident where I was backing out of a parking spot. Haven't had one since I started backing in. These days my neck range of motion is a bit limited, and backing in is even more important. I don't have to jockey into place, and can see people becoming frustrated at people who do jockey. However, I think it's time to slow down, and quit worrying about an extra 60 seconds. Park farther out and get the exercise. Or just slow down and maybe lower your blood pressure. JMNERHO, Jeff Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
  25. Interesting this came up, right after I made a reference to a situation where friends daughter had leukemia. Sorry to hear. I have been signed up for Bone Marrow for about ten years now, and haven't been chosen to donate yet. I would donate in heartbeat. I really wish they would match me with someone before I am disqualified due to age. Your best source of information is the information they give you when you sign up, and the National Marrow Donor Program web site at http://www.marrow.org. Anything below is just my recollection, and should be considered suspect. Bone marrow donatation is a process, from what I remember, that involves wwithdrawal of the marrow from your pelvic bone, the bone just below your pants line on your rear. I would guess it not a "piece of cake", but probably involves some discomfort and maybe light duties depending on your job, for a short time, depending on the person. I understand all your costs are paid for by the recepient, to include time away from work, hospital costs, etc.. When you sign up for the Marrow registry, they take either a small tube of blood, or a cheek cells, and perform tissue typing on the sample. You have to be a close match to the donor, it's more involved than simple ABO type matching. So, it's also harder to find a match for the receipent. Again, please read the Marrow registry web site, and remember, by signing up to have your tissue typed, you are giving someone, maybe a young child, another chance at life--by increasing the pool of donors. You might be called to donate, and you might not. You can remove yourself from the donor pool at any time, but I don't know why you would. I really, really wish they would find a match for me. I want to give another person a chance at living by being a marrow donor. I donate blood, have donated platelets, and I would really like to have the opprunity to donate marrow. I know a kid who died from Leukemia, and I wish she was still around. After ten years I still miss her, she would be about a year older than my daughter now. Jeff Arch?
