Dave, I didn't say a gas leak would cause symptons of CO exposure. I am wondering if there was a CO leak, since I don't understand how nausea and dizzeness are caused by a gas leak (but they are symptons of CO exposure.) I would also suggest that everyone, in particular those with some sort of fossil fuel appliance, an attached garage, or those living in multi-family housing, to have a CO detector. Had a CO exposure myself, and might not be alive if I hadn't spent some of my dollars, while a student, and bought a CO detector. Just my two cents, Jeff Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.

As I read your post, I was thinking you had signs of CO, nauseous, headachy. Please be kind to yourself (and all of your admirers here on DZ) and spend a few dollars for a carbon monoxide detector. If you burn dinosaurs, tree's, or anything, you really should have a CO detector. Seakev might be able to add a few reasons why you really want to have a CO detector. Really, it's more fun to go scuba diving in the water, than in a chamber. J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.

Me too! Walt Me too!!!! Smiling yet, Jennr8r? Heck, I would even do the Ipecac challenge just to have my ticket paid so I could see the famous Jennr8r, Skydivermom and WaltAppel. And I would even try not to act synergistically with Walt, regarding poop, vomit and other such fine substances. Hey Walt, I grossed out the person most likely to never be grossed out in my workplace, a couple of weeks ago...using some of your photo's....I know they were listed as NSFW, but I warned her in advance she couldn't file a harassment lawsuit against me. She is HR, so it would just add to her workload. Jennr8r and company, have fun and exercise the smile muscles. Jeff*** ETFix brain farts. Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.

You can change DNS without admin privileges? Geezzz, I have to test that one, and figure out a way to lock that setting down. J P.S. And of course, don't forget IT can spy on you by watching your desktop as you work. Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.

You are sticking that q-tip where? Owwwww, owwww, owwww... You really don't have to stick a q-tip up there, do you? J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground. -
[QUOTE]ANY accident involving a fatality caused by a drunk driver would result in permanently revoked licence, and a minimum of one year in prison for every person who died. Good start. The fucker that killed my sister last year had prior DUIs and for some reason still a fuckin driver's license. If the penalities were stiffer, perhaps it would help save lives. Sunny, I am so sorry your sister was killed by a drunk driver. I can't imagine what that's like. I know that it doesn't replace your sister, but I and many others appreciate that your sister was serving all of us. And congrats on your 4 point oh. I can imagine your sister looking down, smiling and being one very proud sister. J

Belated Happy Birthday Walt. Have fun, do whatever (legal) you want, and many happy returns! Are you really planning on ingesting syrup of ipecac? You are not really serious, are you? J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.

Congratulations! Bet that's a nice feeling. Time to submit the bill to your boss!!!! If they want you attached, then let them pay for it!!! How is the speed, do you have to grit your teeth or? I found using a Term Server makes the experience eaiser to deal with... What, you didn't get down on your knees and worship the MH Shower Head? Hahahaha Would a shower on a hose work? I know after a couple of weeks of sun showers (OK, we do heat the water, not relying on sun), I really like the first shower back in civilization. Probably the only good part of returning from vacation. You might consider propane demand heaters. I haven't seen any cost comparsions between electricity and propane recently. Electric tankless water heaters require a large chunk of copper, 50-75 amps worth. http://www.e-tankless.com/products.php That could be powered with a nice size diesel, but I dunno, a propane tankless might change the genset sizing significantly. Almost worth it to buy, scrounge, etc., a used propane tank water heater just for the genset days. Glad you and the rest of the DZ.comers had power back before the end of the week. And to all the rest of western wa people without power, I will keep you in my thoughts, stay warm. J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.

Ahh but those who can say "We are in an invincible pocket of neighborhood. Cool" really don't need a generator, right? I heard Amazon was going to set up a wireless link for power between your invincible pocket of power and her wild outback home. OK, so that would be tough...but... Now a generator might be nice after a BIG earthquake, when the power might not be quite so invincible, and might be out for a few days. J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.

Botched execution halts Floridas justice by death.
Johnsisland replied to BannanaGirl's topic in Speakers Corner
How much cumulative psychological effect do you think that would have on an executioner? With lethal injection and hanging there are certain barriers between the executioner and the victim. It is cold, clinical and detatched. Shooting someone in the head is far more visceral and immediate. I remember reading about guards, ministers and others involved in Texas executions…some who participated in the strap down team. People who I understand volunteered to be a part of the execution teams, or at least say they volunteered. The guards and others describe shaking, taking showers and trying to scrub themselves clean, tears and variety of other emotions. One executioner from Alabama told interviewers that he would pull out fingernails, or execute his son. And he insists that he “sleeps like a baby” following every execution. But the person interviewing this executioner meet the man at his house, and found the executioner paints masks of horror on canvas after executions. Executioner said, “They don’t really represent anything.” But then he adds, “It’s an outlet…people jog.” I guess his paintings are jogging for him. A Texas minister that believed in the death penalty before he witnessed executions, and now is anti-death penalty. Guards that couldn’t take the strap down team anymore. And I wonder about those who say they would volunteer to be the executioner… J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground. -
Yep, have to agree. http://www.slate.com/id/76886/ And my favorite... "Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB/GYN's aren't able to practice their love with women all across the country."—Sept. 6, 2004, Poplar Bluff, Mo. I should have some compassion for someone who is probably dsylexic or AD/HD...but oh well. J

I can't think of a person who wouldn't feel extreme pain when salt is pumped through there body. The last drug/prescription/chemical in execution protocols is sodium chloride, AKA salt. There are some who wonder why if the reason for the second drug/prescription/chemical (paralytic agent) is to mask the pain when someone is still conscious when the salt is injected. And according to the one pathologist's report, the short acting barbituate was insufficient and one or more people were conscious when the salt was injected. Besides the constitutional issue (cruel and unusual) I also believe we should treat everyone, even the most heinous of criminals, in a manner that does not reflect negatively on society. I don't think we should shove broomsticks inside people, no matter what they have done. Neither do I think we should cause someone pain, all for the sake of revenge--which is what I think the death penalty is all about. Just my opinion, and perhaps I should don Nomex. J -
Well, my Mom and Dad in Federal Way had power again this evening. Sooooo....they are working towards you!!! You need a propane or natural gas water heater! Maybe it's not worth it since you have the motor home...I wonder if the cost savings are there to justify changing over? Cellular wireless or find an open wireless? I have a couple of links that run 4-5 miles, but both ends have directional/hi gain antennas. I suspect that isn't the case. If cellular, which company and what speed do you see? Hope the power crews appear at your door soon, J

Wow, you didn't loose power...wow!!! Did you loose internet, or were you just busy for a few days??? Glad you didn't loose power, what's it like with 15 people around? And what about all those in-laws? J

SeaKev, Are you a firefighter or EMS? CO is nasty. Christmas 96 morning, my CO alarm started going off, chimmeny plugged (rental.) Glad I had a CO alarm. My folks wouldn't have a CO alarm if I didn't buy and install it. I wonder when CO alarms will be required by law. I hope soon, and I hope it's a faster process than the smoke detectors were. Stay safe, J Can't imagine what AcmeSkydiver is doing with a house full of guests. -

Glad you are warm and toasty. But wondering...what type of natural gas heat works without power? Something in the wall? Glad you being careful with the candles, there is some video of an apartment fire which they are attributing to candles. J Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground. -

And it will be interesting to see when AcmeSkydiver and NWFlyer are able to post again. Unless NWFlyer has flown out of town, it may be a day or six before either one is able to post again. Oh wait, crackberry...NWFlyer. OK, maybe postwhoring will resume before power returns. Hope all of you without power stay safe and warm. J Anybody want to bet when people in the west half of the state reappear online? -
Walt...I tell ya, I was almost considering not opening the link...after the last special post you were kind enough to provide for the lady who had the bug stuck in her throat. But I did gross out someone at work with your last, umm kind post. Someone whom most people thought would have been impossible to gross out. She was warned...and since she is head of personnel, I told her it wouldn't be fair to file a sexual harassment complaint, since I warned her... J
