  1. That would be good since there are so many damned "Senior" Canuckian jumpers that keep showing up...year after year...
  2. There are a lot of very cool fun jumpers there. It will be HOT.
  3. Students get out last (Usually), and pull higher (usually), and are on bigger, slower parachutes (usually), so land much later than the hot rod (usually).
  4. As you know, I don't take any non safe crap from anyone at the "Boogie in Belize" and strive for the utmost in safe jumping all around. It's a difficult line to walk, but I don't want to see the DGIT kill me, nor any of my friends. I have grounded and sent home certain participants. It was for flying violations in the pattern. DZ's used to have the "ban board", "Bad boy board", "Grounded list" etc by manifest. It had a person's name on it and what they were grounded for. Somewhere along the road we got all "touchy/feely" in the skydive world and became soft on safety. No one wanted to make anyone feel bad. At Eloy we used to banish jumpers to land in the student area, which is now known by some of us as "The Jean Guy LZ". Jean Guy was a great friend and my former room mate in Eloy. He was a friend to all and a wonderful human being. We CONSTANTLY told him to slow down. I begged him, Dan BC begged him, etc. He nearly took out a jumper on Ron Green's memorial jump and BC sent him to the student area from then on. Jean Guy hooked in at Drumheller during a boogie and died from his landing injuries. It was very painful for all of us that loved him, but not surprising at all. So sad, so young, so full of life. Sometimes we just can't impress upon jumpers what can actually happen to them. Even jumpers that witness tragedy think it could never happen to them. Even when world champions beg them to slow down. USPA has banned jumpers in the past for unsafe actions, I'm not sure when the last time that has ever happend. We can write LOTS of stuff here on DZ.Com, we can tell everyone about our friends that have died or had life changing injuries, but it just doesn't seem to matter. It pains me to watch, but I don't participate in the big ways any longer. 22 other canopies in the air with me is almost too many. And it's not just the newbies that do stupid crap. Most of the headaches I have at the boogie are 1,000+ jump wonders. I'll see you in a month. We'll have further discussion over a cold one.

You should have been in San Diego just now. Checking the web to see how big.
  7. Now if I can only lace them up with Mario, my hockey life will be complete!
  8. He still skated remarkably well. His shot was a sizzler also. We skated on the same line for the first hour and a half and then there was a break and we switched teams for another hour and a half. I skated down on him and made a slick move he wasn't expecting and wristed one top shelf. I flicked the puck at him and asked "Hey old man, look'n for this?" He just chuckled, and on the very next rush down he put the puck through my legs, turned me around as he picked it back up and put it back through, skated right past me (Think what Mario did to Ray Borque once) and torched the goalie. He just grinned at me. One stupid guy thought he would elbow Gordie and be funny. Howe side stepped the dude at the boards and smashed him right into the glass. We were all howling! After the session we went to the diner next door and ate lunch. He told some wonderful stories. It was an incredible experience. No one recognized him, he was in Red Wing warm up pants and a Red Wing jacket. Of course, we were in Burbank, CA!! I'll try to post the photo of us together on the ice. I have skated with a lot of NHL guys, but that day was the best, by a million miles!!!
  9. I had the pleasure of playing hockey with Gordie Howe when he was the "Hockey America" national spokesman. We went to lunch afterwards. What a wonderful day in my life that was. He was about 62 or 3 then and still had mad skilz!!!
  10. I was thinking the same thing Kallend!!!!
  11. It didn't hurt me too much to watch Hossa skate with the Cup. I'm still bitter he left the Pens, but it's just business! That was a great game. I called Kane's goal right before it went in, because he faked out the D and cut to the net. Leigton was very weak all series in goal. That was a beer league goal to give up, leaning down to stick save it from that angle. Niemi was epic in the third and OT. He should have been MVP. (or Kane) Well guys, it's been fun talking hockey these past two months. And I leave with only one last thing to say... LET'S GO PENS!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Things must be going OK in America if all we can find out to bitch about is no flags and such. He went to a Memorial Day event, as hashed out in another thread. The oil tragedy is his Katrina, He hates America, He's giving everything away to the poor, He loves Mexicans, He bows to lesser human beings, He shook hands with Ame...oh, wait, photoshopped, never mind, Relax you guys, Sarah 'I can see the oil spill from my house" Palin/Joe"I'm a politician not a plumber" The Plumber will save the day next election! Discussing chain e-mails, not real politics is a waste of bandwidth.
  13. Pronger got owned last night. He looked hurt in the third period. When history looks back on this series, goaltending will NOT be one of the highlites!!!!
  14. Hossa is going to be crying like a baby in a few more games!!!
  15. The "Passion Eight" story would only need them creeping and dirt diving. No plot needed. Ask an oldtimer who or what "Passion Eight" was.
  16. Skydive Santa Barbara does 18,000ft ones once in a while.
  17. hmmm, my 19th year in a row. I'm not sure if I like it there. Maybe I had better go one more time, just to see.
  18. A "Passion Eight" docudrama with Scarlett, Selma, Charlize, Alyssa, Megan Fox, Lucy Lu, Ashley Judd and Kate Hudson as Melanie.
  19. Michael Jeter died in 2003 of a seizure. He played a guy named Earl in the movie. Swoop was played by Kyle Secor.
  20. I think the Flyers have the upper hand now. The Hawks have to be kicking themselves for allowing a weak goal right after Kane's breakaway tally. This is tunring into one of the best finals in a long time.
  21. Just like the Baptist church that protests the military funerals represent ALL Baptist churches.
  22. Watch close, Kane has been tricky with the puck but no results. Toews is watched like a "Hawk" by the Flyers D. The stars usually get the clutch and grab treatment and get pounded when they touch the puck. Max Talbot was a hero last year for the Pens. Guys like Bolland and Eager make great legends of themselves this timne of year. Niemi is the key to this series.
