  1. They all suck. Romney-Flip flopper King. Gingrich-from national disgrace as Speaker of the House to running for POTUS. That's like a Latin American politicians move. Santorum-religious nutter that will end up making Bachmann look normal. Huntsman-seems OK, but no one gives him any credit. And he took a job Obama gave him. Bad Republican. Paul-too crazy on legalizing drugs for fundies. But he was a great Nostradamus back in 2002.
  2. See you there Jeanie. It will be a wonderful day to honor and remember some wonderful people.
  3. I like how they throw out that "Islam does not believe in soul mates" What about all the other religions???
  4. I wonder why they picked her house?? I wonder if they knew her late husband??? I wonder why she had guns???? Was he a hunter? Or her? I wonder why they thought she would have drugs at her house???? I wonder if this was really a random crime?????? Or maybe it was just 2 idiots high and desperate? I think there may be a bit more to the story. But I truly hope not...
  5. And now this... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/04/new-hampshire-legislature-curriculum-objection-law_n_1184476.html?ref=mostpopular Republicans won't rest until we are a theocracy. We slam other nations for their religious intolerance and teachings. We're getting closer to resembling the nations we are told to despise...
  6. Could you imagine if Obama had said this? Why isn't this national news. And why is this idiot still in office?
  7. God told Pat Robertson last week who was going to be the next president. Couldn't we all just save a lot of brutal political commercials and ads and have Pat tell us who????
  8. EMT and Paramedic certifications vary in cost from state to state. Some states have county medical directors and authorities that oversee protocols. California just started charging a renewal fee for EMT's of $74. Paramedics are $125. Some agencies require the National Registry certification for paramedics. Some places have a fee you pay to the county EMS agency. This is just a way for the state to generate some additional income. No one is trying to do away with volunteers to create union jobs. The fee is tax deductable.

  10. Call Randy Ottinger at USPA HQ. He has all of the info you need.
  11. Yeah, I guess I was the dumb one. He was skysurfing alone, Larry Hill, the DZO was flying the Otter and decided to wait for him since it was a very slow day and we were about the only 20 or so people jumping that day. A guy much smarter than me named Bryan Burke gave him a gear check on the ground before he hopped back in. When I get smarter they will let me make all of the decisions at Skydive Arizone. At least they used to let me sell the beer there...
  12. My worry would be that a lot of jumpers would take up swooping, feeling safe that an audible will keep them from pounding in.
  13. It's not surprising, especially if someone is in a hurry. Years ago I was on an otter load with Dale Stuart and Ray Cottingham at SDA. A guy came rushing up to the plane and jumped in last all frantic. He had a skyboard with him. As we started to taxi out, Dale asked him if he was pretty awesome on the board. He said yeah, he was getting pretty good and going to compete next weekend. Dale asked him how many jumps it took him to land a board without a rig on. Holy Crap! He actually forgot his rig in his haste. We taxied back to manifest so he could get his gear on. Jeb would have been pissed if he pulled it off... Check your gear, always. There is no such thing as a routine skydive.
  14. Cars have speedometers and will all ignore them. Skydivers have altimeters and audibles and those get ignored sometimes. AAD's...oops, forgot to set it. Some bell or whistle to help you swoop, what happens when it doesn't function properly or isn't turned on? What's next, visual slope indicators next to the pond?
  15. Awesome job guys!! (now where is my BBQ?) I want you to present the 2012 boogie info to the Nicaragua participants. See ya soon for some rum by the sea.
  16. Was busy with family holiday stuff and missed the Canada/USA game. Don Hay is a great guy and I wish the Canadians well moving on. Don was a fireman in Kamloops, where I first met him. Our paths have crossed a few times when he was with the Coyotes and the Ducks. A class act for sure...
  17. Your unwavering support of Republicans is admirable. Take a real look at his jobs numbers, the unemployment rate and goverment jobs created. And look at the number of workers under the minimum wage level in the state.
  18. Wow! Thanks for the interest everyone. I have just run out of DVD's. I will burn some more soon.
  19. Steve Duda, the DuDa Man, Always a competitor, never a champion. It wasn't always easy to make a skydive at the Blue Sky Ranch... What a classic VHS tape. And JP even made fun of himself by adding his hook at the ParaSki event.
  20. I have discussed it with USPA. I think having DZ's develop their own plan works well. If done properly.
  21. Training responders is an ordeal on the national level. Each state has their own rules and regulations as to what responders can and cannot do. The big issue becomes, how would you train hundreds of "skydive patrol" members? Would USPA be responsible to train everyone? And who would monitor the continuing education? Who would give the training? And finally, the big problem, who would be liable if a trained person really screwed up? Most DZ's have a fair amount of EMS qualified jumpers on hand at any given time. It now comes down to getting organized at their home DZ...
  22. Any basic training will teach you the knowledge to be effective in a DZ injury. You will know what to AND what NOT to do for someone. After a basic course you can sit down with the trained folks at your DZ and do some skydiving related injury trauma training. And knowing first aid comes in pretty handy your entire life, whever you are.
