  2. The Taliban judge did give him a 6.0 for artistic merit.
  3. Writing a check to pay for things at the cash register that looked like an old typewriter.
  4. Malkin made Tampa Bay look like a bantam team today. What a sick goal!
  5. My first jump was a static line, 1980' Cleveland SPC. No freefall there. But I'm not too sure, since my eyes were closed.
  6. IT'S ABOUT TIME! After an almost two year access battle, the Oceanside City Council agreed last night in a closed session hearing to grant Tsunami Skydivers Inc. a lease ageeement for the Oceanside Municipal Airport. This would not have happened without the guidance and determination of the USPA's Director of Government Relations Randy Ottinger. His knowledge and wit and wisdom helped me get through this exasparating process. I am leaving for Nicaragua on Monday and will get back at the end of March. It will take a couple of months to work out the lease agreement and get our hangar area and other items sorted out. I think we should be open around the first part of July. PAC 750 is confirmed. Grand opening date will be announced, stay tuned. Excuse me while I go have a drink
  7. My Katana 120 is the nicest canopy I have flown. Opens great, flight is nice and landings are smooth. Signed, Almost old 52
  8. I attended the Western Region S&TA meeting at Skydive San Diego last Thursday. There was probably a couple of hundred thousand jumps worth of experience in the room. DZO's and managers, S&TA's, instructors, PRO rated exhibition team members, military jumpers and some very experienced fun jumpers were in attendance. Jim Crouch gave a fatality summary review, Bryan Burke gave an incidents review for Skydive AZ and I spoke about EMS training and DZ safety. After our presentations there was a lot of excellent discussion about incidents, prevention, human nature and gear issues. One of the things we discussed was learning to skydive on the internet. We also discussed ways to approach the low time jumpers doing stupid things, how to deal with experienced jumpers doing stupid things and the need for DZ mentors to help out with the safety aspects of our sport. I am calling you out right now. You said you are going down to Skydive Arizona soon. Sit down with Bryan Burke and have a friendly discussion about wearing your camera. Please. And what you think is hostility by experienced jumpers here is usually because they are tired of seeing new kids on the block getting killed, or worse yet, crapping into a plastic bag and wheelchairing through life or even worse, killing someone innocent. Think about it...
  9. Sorry, I was hoping you were out this week. I'm out of the country for a month starting Feb. 27th.
  10. When? I would be glad to join you.
  11. And a real skinny kid from Brantford, and a big gangly kid that wore 66. They weren't too bad
  12. Most DZ's need help outside of skydiving also. The bigger places have gear stores, restaurants/snack bars, maintenance hangars, bad spot vehicles, etc. I have never known a reliable and hardworking person to be out of work at a DZ. Make your lving at the DZ in other ways than jumping and then jump as much as you can. Have fun!
  13. Glad I got his Nicaragua $$$ up front

  15. Thanks to Skydive Elsinore for hosting two very good training days for the Elsinore Cal Fire and Mercy Air crews. Special thanks to DSE for spending his morning filming training, instead of flying his wingsuit.
  16. Promoting airport access one jerk off at a time
  17. This is posturing by the city. If they have accepted FAA funding, they are obligated to keep the airport open. Don't try to understand why some airport sponsors restrict access to skydiving and other commercial aeronautical operations. It will make you just shake your head. Signed, Fighting for airport access since March, 2010.
  18. We had a great class on Monday morning. Thanks to the Elsinore crew, especially Chris Louder, for all of the help. We will be back at it on Friday morning at 9AM. DSE is filming the training and we will put it up here at DZ.com for everyone to view. That will make it easier than trying to mail DVD's around the world.
