  1. Sort of in the same boat as you are. I am hopeful that my upgrade copy will get here this week. My system is still pretty damn fast, but I've tweaked the heck out of Vista to get it that way.
  2. It also sounds very pricey, and I know from talking to students and listening to what they are saying, cost is a big factor right now. Things are tight.
  3. That's pretty damn cool!! How quickly can you take it on and off or get to the memory stick? I bought one from para gear that works pretty well, but slows down getting to the memory card pretty good.
  4. 2012, really?!?! We'll have to wait that long? How about 2011? Say about Sept or Oct?
  5. clicky Do you mind if I ask you what you load your spectre's at? I've recently changed to a spectre and LOVE it so far. I can't see jumping anything else for camera work for myself.
  6. Hey Brandon, it was great to meet you today. Sorry about running out of day light on that last jump there. Come back tomorrow or next weekend though and we'll get ya done! Bill S. made a good call on shutting that last load down vs trying to push it. Stay in this sport long enough and you'll completely understand how good a call that was. :) Take care, BK
  7. Hey Scott, When you get it and start working on it or if you have any questions, let me know and I'll do what I can to help ya out remotely. Thanks, BK
  8. Great in both areas. I took a lot of care to follow the instructions on shimming it and then baking the liner like they suggest. (IMO this is a great asset as it really forms to your head.) I use it 10-15 or more times a weekend now and love it. Like the FTP you have to remove the liner to install everything, but once your done, you'll likely never have to remove it again. I've setup two of them now and find it to be a great platform for what it's used for. Plenty of room for everything and it's all nice and neat.

I think I finally figured it out. I'm slow though... or at least my mail man is. Congrats to Krisanne on her page 24 appearance in Parachutist!
  10. Another option that is 8oz lighter is the Bone Head mantle. You can put both cameras side by side, you get all the weight up top and it's lighter than both the ones you listed. Just a thought.
  11. A D license in posts? LOL, I just about spit on my keyboard.

monkey du du all over you... wtf is page 24? I need 24 beers...
  13. Hey Chris, That video is what got me asking questions. However when I installed Vegas Pro on my Vista 64 machine it was actually slower rendering than my 32 bit non pro version. So I abandoned the idea for now. I will eventually come back to it as I need to find a way to get every ounce of performance out of the process and this machine. Thx, BK
  14. Very nice; welcome to the flock!!
  15. What do you recommend? I'm currently looking for an eSATA enclosure and plan to put a 1tb or larger drive(s) into it. What kind of a setup do you recommend. Do you put all your raw video directly onto it and then render to another drive?
  16. Wait? Maybe that's what's wrong, I need to be using sports mode... but you guys all told me to go learn to use my camera and that in doing so I would probably want to use different settings... So confused.
  17. Is there a way with production assistant to script it so that when a memory card is inserted that the media is copied off into a folder and renamed or placed by date? Yes I know that means using Vegas Pro and using prod assistant, I'm kewl with that, just wondering if it's possible?
  18. Not hard at all. Drill out the rivets. I then took a drimel cut off wheel to one of the stubborn ones and let it bite just a little into the head area and the box (just be careful to not go through the box). Then it popped right off. Putting the new box on is just about as easy. Hold it in place, mark one hole, drill it out, rivet it in place. Do the next holes one hole at a time, there are 3 with the CX-100 box and your good to go. Very easy, takes about 30 minutes with the right tools. You can get the rivets and a cheap rivet gun for about $20 for everything at Home Depot or Lowes type stores.
  19. Thanks Phil, I'll check those out. The switch is not as big as the pictures make it appear. I'll try and get some pictures of it in the camera and on my helmet later when I'm at home. In any case, I'm all for getting it as small and low profile as possible.
  20. I made my own tongue switch this week. I got the idea from another vidagrapher/friend. He'd made up a couple of them. So after doing some reading around and compiling a list of items I headed off to Radio Shack. I bought one of these: Right Angle Plug and one of these: Soft-Touch Momentary Switch and a roll of this: 2-Conductor Intercom Wire Sum total ~$13 Came home where I have a good soldering iron and some shrink wrap and set to work. Wala, 30 minutes later I had this. See attached pictures. I have since added some gaffers tape at both ends to help give it more strength. It also gives me something softer to bite into while holding it in my teeth. My main complaint with the other versions that I had seen/used was the lack of feedback telling me that I was triggering the shot. This switch gives me that. You know when it's not pressed. However it does not take much pressure at all. I've not jumped it yet, but so far all my testing around the house has gone great. Hope this might be of a help to somebody else along the way.
