A job offer from the company that I have been contracting at the last 15 months. I've been contracting since I lost my job of 23 years in December of 2000. Looks like I'll finally have full benefits, vacation and all that other good stuff again. Just got to wait for the paperwork stuff to happen over the next few days and bingo. I'll be responsible for productivity programs at 5 different facilities in the U.S. and Mexico. I wonder if this means that I really have to start acting all professional and respectable. Hey, I manage to fish with my kids and skydive every weekend. Course it helps to have a swimming and fishing pond right on the DZ. As well as being right on the Fox River. Yeah, back around 1987 I was seeing the most perfect young woman to grace the face of the earth. She was a friend of one of my best skydiving buddies girlfriend. We went out for a while and were really into each other. I encouraged her to go out west when my friend and his gilfriend went back to Nevada. Youknow, see other things expience other things, live a little. Stupid on my part as she met someone a fell in love, got married and had a family. I have seen her a couple of times since then and it always made me feel good for her as she seemed to have something I never finished finding. Unfortunately since then the breakup scene has always seemed to be a bit more dramtic and complex, but then again, I think thats why they call it life. I have always taken how I teach people to do bowls seriously. Oh yeah, somrtimes I choke and they laugh but in the end it really is serious business. Aneurisms are always a potential threat if you do not do your bowl correctly... Exactly our point. Without proper control you can endanger others and not just yourself. Remember people when you are close to the lanes keep your head on a swivel. If Val can't keep her ball in her hand someone could get injured by her mishandling of the ball. Now that you have said this I am trying figure what advantages I had learning to skydive... I am also realizing that most of the mentoring I have started this season is with guys... I came back to the top to reply because I got lost in the clutter. My mind ain't what it used to be. Do I talk to women differently than men, yup. It is a flirting thing that all people do, whether they can admit it or not. It's kind of fun, but it does not cross the line in the relationship I try to develop while mentoring. When I talk about skydiving, how to progress, how to conceptualize, everyone is getting the same talk. I may sound a bit like the surf pro as I tend to use lots of analogies to get my point across. In the air everyone gets the same treatment, you need to work to earn and learn. If I cheat someone on learning to feel the skydive just because of their sex then I am doing them no favor, and demeaning myself in their eyes, from my perspective. If you, or anyone else feels that you are treated differently, how do you feel about that person, or about yourself for allowing it? Are you really getting what you want out of the experience? It's true that there are people who look at the role of the experienced jumper as a way to access the meat market. Everyone that knows me knows that I love to play the game when it is game playing time, but when I want to share what I have learned over the years you will get me, the real me, and get to share the real me. You will meet others that will give you the same no matter where you jump, look for them if you really want to learn and live.
