  1. Sellers from dropzone.com? Well, in the weekend you'll likely get slow responses, worldwide you are dealing with time differences, and some people are just slow responding anyway or maybe have a deal pending they want to wait out or something... ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Ahead. Always, unless if and when I feel something off about my main. Sticking your head between your risers as your canopy opens is a recipe for 1) neckpain on a hard opening 2) damaged camera gear if you jump it 3) a collision you could potentially have avoided by looking where you were going. ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. I never use the zoom for tandemshots etc so I put a bit of gaffertape under/next to it so it pushes/blocks the lever into "zoom out" always. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. For me it was later on, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it... ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. I bought the DCR-SX44 for my wife. Seems to have the EIS image stabiliszation. I'll jump it one of these days and see how it fares. Could be a decent alternative for shooting vid in standard def. How are you going to attach a wide angle lens? ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. If you've never wore one, see if you can borrow one and jump it. I bought a used Z1, had it re-painted (didn't like the big sunny-side-up + blowfly design on it) THEN jumped it, 3 times. Got quite claustrophobic in it and it limited my visibility a bit too so I sold it after 3 jumps. YMMV. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. What kind of fisheye are you looking for? A sigma or canon 15mm f/2.8 are both fisheyes and great jumping lenses but do not have the full fishy effect on a aps-c camera like yours. Sigma has a 10mm that is a fullframe fisheye, and a 8 mm that is circular fisheye. Real cheap option are the Zenitar/Peleng or Samyang lenses but those are manual focus. ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. Shot this one today it put a smile on my face for that entire jump and a good while after

  10. No idea what the rules have to say about camera flying in Denmark, but here in The Netherlands there's a newbie cameraflyer I would love to have a word with after his less than stellar performance this weekend on the last jump of the day, after which he went home real quick so no one could talk to him. He acted like he had less than 100 jumps in the plane. Was busy with a go-pro camera on the way up for a bit. Was asked if he was going out low "yes" so he was seated by the door. Then when we aproached 3.5 k he was warned to put on his helmet, goggles, about now. Then the door needed to be opened at 3.5 k he was acting all surprised and needed to grab/put on his stuff plus get out of the way real quick as it turned out he WASN'T getting out low but was going up with the tandems so now the couple jumpers who WERE getting out low had to go 'round him. He then spent the rest of the way up fiddling with camera. When the door was opened @ 9k for the tandems, he didn't spot or look out the door at all but kept looking at the tandems. First solo jumper got out doing a headdown exit, this guy glanced over, say he was gone, dove out right after. Not even 2 secs separation acording to my video, and this was with very low winds too. First jumper saw him exiting and was NOT amused. After landing we were all busy with our tandems and jumper got in the 2nd van so we never saw him again. I asked around later, as this jumper was acting like he had waaaay to little jumps for camera and also had a rental rig from the skydiving shop plus was jumping a pro-tec helmet. Turned out he actually did have 200+ jumps. But he was NOT ready for the distraction a camera brings, in any way shape or form. His distraction caused hassle and worry for other jumpers and likely he himself is not even aware of any problems. The rest of the load was I'd say 200 jumps is a bare MINIMUM for jumping any sort of camera, and most jumpers are not really ready then. I for one sure wouldn't have been... I've also seen jumpers with 500+ jumps quit jumping camera because it wasn't as easy as it seemed... ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. WHAT files? Presuming this is a playable DVD and not a data DVD: go to the directory of the dvd. Go to the VIDEO_TS directory. Copy the biggest .vob file you can find to your harddrive. Rename .vob to .mpg. Convert said mpg using software of choice to other format of choice (if you even need to). ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. This is getting harder these days though, with s-ata harddrives and other drivers - having to install a floppy drive (!) about 6 times for the same pc made me not want to do that again please I'd try every compatibility/administrator mode first before I'd try installing XP if I were the OP ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. I'll have to come visit you then But these were video camera lenses, much cheaper to replace. No worky? New lens. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Hmm a Vengeance packs close to a size bigger than regular non-airlocked canopies of the same size, so if a Vengeance 170 is listed as "soft" I would not even want to put a 170 non-airlocked/crossbraced canopy in there ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. A sabre2 135 will fit absolutely fine in a I3. As will a sabre2 120 or katana 120 or similar later on. I have an I3, I've had a vengeance 135 in it (doable but tight fit) down to a fusion 120 (excellent fit) that is also an excellent fit in my Atom that's made for a 110 sqft max. I now have a pilot 124 in my I3 which also fits fine (pilots pack up kinda big). A very small rig (like my Atom 000 is) is a pain in the ^&* because you cannot put in a airlocked or crossbraced canopy of any decent size and even a 120 sqft canopy is often a tight fit. The reserves in these rigs are SMALL., trust me I've got a lot of reserve rides... So unless you want to jump a 97 sqft or smaller regular canopy or a 90sqft or smaller airlocked/crossbraced one in the near future, and are ok with a mini reserve, I'd strongly suggest you buy the one size bigger rig (like Atom 00 or icon I3) as this will likely keep you happy the rest of your skydiving career ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Nope, either mode will do. The output depends on the cable you use, A/V outputs SD only, regardless of the source footage. Standard definition, high definition. Standard def is what ends up on a dvd disc, for highdef end-product for the customer you need blu-ray discs. If you edit on a computer you can work with both formats but editing highdef source footage takes a much better/faster/newer pc to do quick. For archiving, highdef takes up much more harddrive space (but of course is better quality). For HD (and for HD cameras even if you're shooting in SD), a HD wide angle lens is highly recommended, for instance the raynox hd3032pro and raynox hd5050pro are great and affordable skydiving lenses. Best to ditch/sell your old wide angle lenses... ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. Beat you Another one of my favourites, one our pilot for some reason didn't want to emulate: plane ride ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Nothing nothing nothing beats the first jump course in Fandango ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. You generally do not edit tandemvideos in HDV, unless the passenger is wanting and paying for a blu-ray disc (not many places worldwide offering these yet). Just record in either SD or HDV mode with any CX series camera, then use the A/V port to edit, just like most people do with miniDV cameras. You need: a display (TV or LCD), a mixing board, 1 or 2 music sources and a dvd recorder. I've never seen a tape mixing deck like that though, but if it accepts A/V in it might work. I'd go with the standard linear system like I mentioned though, those can handle both tape and non-tape cameras. ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. For fun and for re-enactment (Market Garden etc). They do lots of demos. Edit: click ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. Bottrop. ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. Oh, and I strongly suspect advertising like you're doing, while creative, is not approved of here Use the classifieds for that. ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. Sure, these cameras can be used with a linear editing system just like a miniDV camera. However it lacks a remote so any slo-mos will have to be done from the screen (which sucks). ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. A common sight at my DZ: ciel bleu, Saskia
  25. Try standing under a nice high power pole with a camera for a while, you'll get plenty of shots like that ciel bleu, Saskia
