    Incident

I've seen multiple close calls of my own fault alone. Almost all of them were caused by aggressive approaches. Since then I have always approached slower. I've hit someone once, hard enough to ring my bell. Even with just 3 birds in the air I managed to hit one. Was just a few secs after exit, first jumper would be lowest and turn back to the DZ, 2nd would be "diving" after first, I was 3rd out and filming. I made my turn after exit and hit the 2nd jumper from the outside, sideways I think, but I never saw the guy until after hitting him. Saw a few stars though I must not have been looking, he's not in my video. I wasn't expecting him to be there or anyway close to me, like the previous jumps. Stupid, look (better) before you turn, but with a wingsuit that turn is FAST and while looking I must have already turned/dived, in a hurry to get there for the video. Lesson learned ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Sounds like you're not asking for advice, but asking for validation. ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. My recommendation: stay with a 150 @ 1.0 for the next 200 jumps or so. A 135 is a HP canopy, regardless of your weight. I was the same weight as you a few years ago () and that's what I did: spectre 150 for my first canopy, followed by a spectre 135 at 300 and then a safire 135 (= 125 sqft) at 350-400 jumps. I've seen other light/featherweights crash and burn with 135 and 120 canopies way too soon. There is no way you have seen it all and can fly a 150 with all it's got @ 100 jumps, keep at it A sabre2 150 is the most HP you should jump for the time being IMO, you can learn anything you need to on that for the next 200 jumps. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. yeah. Sure. Next thing you'll tell us you're an angel... Well I got wings, but aside from that, I'm no angel But honestly I've never seen a playboy-type mag for girls here, or anywhere else for that matter, but then again, with all these nice young lean skydivers to look at at the DZ who needs a mag ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. We had a pilot that found out he donned his rig wrong all by himself: he stood up straight after hooking his legstrap to his handle ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Why sir, I have you know that that is a typical Dutch jumpship Yeah, but.... Playboy??? Come on.... Only because there's no PLAYGIRL LOL scratch that, Wikipedia says there IS. Is it any good? ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Why sir, I have you know that that is a typical Dutch jumpship ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. ... got any? Good or bad ones Here's some of mine, most are quite old and most were made on the DZ during rainy days ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. No, but I have a tongue in my head and I can ask the owner.... Then I'll know, for the next time. As long as you do ask before touching anything even the least bit unfamiliar. I've seen people pulling on poptops, not being able to close reserve flaps at all or worse, close them wrong, stuff like that which is why I will not let just anyone touch my flaps. This is an attitude I find comon among more experienced jumpers who likely have had or have seen the same problems. I do really appreciate anyone asking about stuff that looks weird to them, like reversed risers, crw rigs with stuff hanging out, open riser covers for a hop'n'pop. I once asked the jumper in front of me for boarding why there was a bit of pink packing cord peeking out from under his main flap, for instance ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. Usually I jump tandemvideo and usually I don't get any checks (unless I've moved around in the plane a lot). I've been guilty of running to the plane with my rig over my shoulder a time or two although I try very hard to avoid that But I've also jumped fill-in camera for a number of different FS4 teams, and some of them, the more pro teams, often check each other's pins and pilotchute in the plane, and some of those included me in that "round up". I like that idea, especially since it's me getting a faceful of canopy if a team member should have a premie. I don't want just anyone checking me and especially not in the plane, but this felt good
  11. I did have an older Barigo and it did come with a stretch strap... I want another one ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. Inside pocket: small phone, elastic bands, packing cords, any other stuff I only need after landing. Like a wedding ring for a tandem passenger
  13. Last weekend I caught a tandem cypres not being on while the plane was taxiing (luckily) That was at least his 2nd jump that day with that rig. Caught a A-license type jumper last season with his cutaway pad hanging out when he was getting into the plane. Neither he nor his jump buddy had noticed, it was hanging out a few inches... Other tandem stuff: inverted 3rings, bellyband not fastened, goggles not on in the door. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Well we got this yearly boogie for newbie skydivers. Fun fun fun and ... ducks... Inside view of a wagonwheel @5:15 in the Rubberduckieboogie 2009 video and outside view @4:30 in the Rubberduckkieboogie 2008 video. http://rubberduckieboogie.hyves.nl/ (the videos are about halfway down the page) Other fun stuff to do that is in these videos: jump with a rubberduck on your helmet, jump off a tandem, jump with floppy duck feet, .... Heck maybe you should just add: "come tot the Rubberduckieboogie" to your list ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Fixed for you Well I think from looking at the webcam those round-canopy-guys were the only ones who did get to jump today? Hmz maybe I should try it sometimes ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. I bought/sold/traded/flew a number of 2nd hand canopies and usually those of a beginner nature (sabre 150 etc) were set up with shortish-to-too-short brake lines. One of them flew in brakes even at "full flight" the previous owner didn't notice. But these all were from newer jumpers. I thought it was quite sad/funny when we used to have a few canopy controll courses in a row by Icarus Team Extreme, PD guys ets where in the first video debrief they showed that every time about half of the attending swoopers had too short brakelines those swoopers were told to take a short trip to the rigger next door, preferably before the next jump. Heck I've got some video somewhere from a swoopcomp where 2 swoopers had the top skin of their canopies doing very weird waving motions while swooping Of course nobody takes advice from me about swooping so they didn't even believe me when I told them I could see their brakelines were way too short ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. Wow, I didn't know they used that method past the 80's anyway. They still do. Over here it's now :3 x good SL exits, 2x good and consecutive PRCPs, 1x 10 or 5 sec delay (depends on DZ), up you go, c&p comes later. ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. I think loading a Tempo at more than 1.1 isn't a good idea regardless of deployment speed, and especially not at your jumpnumbers. BTW your main is also (way) too small for you IMO. A WL of 1.3 is recommenden from 300 jumps on, since you're heavier you can probably jump that WL a bit sooner but 93 jumps is not "a bit" ... You should be flying a 210-200 sqft canopy IMO, and at least that size for a reserve (230+ is better). TSO or no TSO. The fact that you're worried about that seems to indicate you do have an inkling that this may not be the best rig for you ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. The cam-eye is only for tape-based camcorders. There is no camcorder with flash that can use a cam-eye. You want a hypeye. Don't get the "mini" version, get the "D PRO" version. Hm seems the skyrats shop doesn't have it? I'd give them a call. Or ask this Dutch shop. ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Rodeo-ride on a wingsuiter (you have the best chance of hitching a ride if you're a cute lightweight girl...). Solo jump with a good cameraflyer (with stills) CRW jump. Wagon wheel. Cross-country. Windtunnel. If you did AFF, try a SL jump ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. In general Icarus canopies tend to have longer control strokes than most other canopies, it may just take some getting used to. If they're just enough slack in the brake lines to not deflect the tail when on frontrisers, the brakelines aren't too long. Of course it's possible the canopy is out of trim but then you often see very short brake lines too (unlesss they've been replaced already). ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. EU camcorders that have DV-in enabled cost more due to licensing issues. Camcorder to computer is just DV-out, this should work on any camcorder. If you want to write from a computer back to tape however, (or copy between cameras) then you need a camera with DV-in. ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. Vista, XP, Windows 7 all make no difference for video capture from a miniDV camera, all should work fine. Also, use firewire/ilink for videocapture from a miniDV camera, forget about usb. What capture program is he using (windows movie maker, premiere elements, pinacle, ...)? Does your camera work on his pc, i.e. is the firewire port and cable OK, and does his camera work on your pc? Have you tried another firewire cable? ciel bleu, Saskia
