  1. Yeah I had one of those at 50 jumps FXC fired after pulling at 2500ft. I had no clue. "Why is my canopy steering so sluggish all of a sudden?" Looking up, and UP and - oh. %^&*. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. How about jumping a more wingsuit friendly canopy? ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Not in the whole of Europe they're not. Maybe in specific countries or on specific dz's, but still... In fact I've never even SEEN one with a release, besides the ads. I jump on of Simon's. No release Don't especially want one, either ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Cameras change all the time. This would be a lot of work to keep updated. Generally, buy sony, buy a mini dv camera, buy one with lanc, dv-in is nice, buy the right kind for your purpose: NTCS or PAL, buy HDV if you can afford it/may need it, check this website for problems with a specific model (like HC7), topmount the camera you just bought. Forget about taking photos with said camera. Hard to go wrong with that, in any price range. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. The sabre 2 is a totally different canopy than the sabre 1. No clue why the name Sabre1: square 9cell, trimmed steep, generally but not always brisk to hard openings. Should be cheap 2nd hand. Performance wise: in the Netherlands you are allowed to put students on a sabre1. Sabre2: semi elliptical 9cell, one of the more hp semi-ellip. 9cells, trimmed less steep, generally but not always nice openings, dives better than a stiletto. Costs more 2nd hand. Performance wise: in The Netherlands you'd need 100 jumps to jump a sabre2. ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. I jump camera, so the brakelines need to be stowed good. Usually i do it myself, since i have triple risers, but sometimes i have the packer do it. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. I've flown it, wasn't impressed with the top. The pants track nice though, similar to say birdman pantz. I didn't see much similarity even to a classic. However one wingsuit student of mine transitioned from it to a classic and then a mtr3 without trouble (he's not flying the mtr3 all that well performance wise but he's comfy), so it probably did help him. Still, I agree with the save your money sentiment, unless you want to use it for base. I'd buy birdman pantz over this suit because you can use the pantz later on for all kinds of disciplines. ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. we make them custom here. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. Z-flex, mini or reghular depending on the size of your head. I use z-flex minis almost exclusively. ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. The HC series cams are not really suitable for sidemounting either. The HC96 is way too wide IMO. For sidemounting, look for a 2d hand pc series camera. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. Hi, No I made my own, had to make a DVD with the high-res end-of-day videos anyway for both the staff and the Thai military officials. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. It's the same with some of the PdF risers where the brakes are set using 2 snaps. You pull up and back to release these, although the first time I encountered them on hired gear after student gear, I managed to pull one free while pulling down then it was easy to release the other one: "huh? no velcro..? oh wait." One girl at our DZ chopped after being unable to release these brakes on hired gear. And then got mad about having to pay for the repack. I liked em, they never get undone unless you step on the snaps and break them (seen that).... i like em except for the fact that if you stow your slack the way it's intended the riser is too wide for the slider to pull down so I had my rigger put a regular tape thing on for stowing the slack. ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. I've jumped original sabres who opened better than some of the sabre2's we had on our DZ. Some sabre2's frankly open like sh*t. The sabre 150 I had opened as soft as my spectre did. And my current sabre 120 opens way too hard for me, let alone for jumping cameras. With or without packing tricks and slider mods. And I'm used to Lightnings too. Moral of the story: jump the exact same canopy you want to buy before you buy it! ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Meh, I jumped a veangeance for a few wingsuit jumps myself and right now I jump a springo (sorta like a stiletto). If it's your canopy, you got loads of jumps and loads on jumps on this canopy plus at least 25 wingsuit jumps, you should know what you're doing right? A lot of people fly their hp canopies for wingsuiting, then again, a lot of them then buy a nice little spectre or similar after a while Of course it's not the best canopy. I very probably wouldn't let a wingsuit student of mine jump it for the first wingsuit jumps, but after that, it's your funeral eh reserve ride ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Haven't seen it yet either I got an unofficial dvd too (of course ), with all the end-of-day vids ciel bleu, Saskia

  17. Was a CF rig ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Hmmmm we had a loop break at our DZ. Not a funny mal ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. Agreed, hardly anyone uses a box at my DZ. Although most have a metal bracket of some kind to support the lens, and some have fabric-type coverings for their cameras. I always thought the boxes too expensive in relation to the camera (1/4 to 1/2 the price!); digital equipment loses value soooo fast these days it's not worth it for most cameras (now maybe if i had an A1...). Also there're pretty cumbersome, don't like that at all. And they generally won't fit the new camera you buy either... My video camera is a bit scratched up but still works fine even after a botched landing or two It's 5yrs old now so not worth much anymore and I'm glad I saved the money
