Off the top off my head: We had a guy carrying juggling balls once, he wanted to juggle under canopy. He lost a few balls 2 weeks ago there was a wager about whether or not a tandem student could roll a sigaret under canopy, well he got the pics to prove he could One story at our dz is about a tandemstudent jumping with an inflatable dildo strapped to him, said inflatable caused a LOT of trouble in freefall because it had gotten really big, was in the TM's way and was trying to turn them upside down. TM was pretty shaken when they landed Also we had a lot of rubber duckies on our Rubber Duckie Boogie earlier this year, with the duckies getting their photograph taken for the comp, some duckies were passed to tandem students in freefall ciel bleu, Saskia

Stalling yourself into a self-gift-wrap?
dragon2 replied to morten's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Some questions for you... Why only on modern canopies? What is different? What is a modern canopy anyway? Why do you assume the steering line lengths of various canopies are comparable? I cannot stall my canopies using toggles without wrapping quite a few times, because all my canopies have their steering lines lengthened so I can pull both frontrisers without deflecting the tail. Is a sabre1 modern or not? When I first got it the steering lines were so short it couldn't even fly in full flight, so completely stalling/streamering it using toggle input would have been VERY easy. A lot of canopies I see around me have their steering lines set quite short... ciel bleu, Saskia -
Only buy the d40x if you're 100% sure all you need is the kit lens It can only handle AF-S lenses (if you want autofocus that is), and the nicer ones are mostly quite expensive. I'd buy a D80 over a d40(x) anyday, or a 2nd hand d70/d70s. ciel bleu, Saskia

Stalling yourself into a self-gift-wrap?
dragon2 replied to morten's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I did a dragplane when I passed my B lic doing CRW. I'm still not sure if you can fall into your lines if the person holding you drops you before HE's been dropped maybe they were just making me nervous telling me that, maybe... not.... ciel bleu, Saskia -
The cause is unknown.. There are plenty of scenarios where a no-handles-pulled incident could be caused by a wingsuit.. A flatspin (to the point of blackout even) is one of the easiest to think off... Also, pilotchutes can be hard to find if you're grabbing wing, and I've seen a few handles disappear into suits as well. Both are wingsuit-specific problems. ciel bleu, Saskia

I vote for 200 and up, totally depending on the jumper but 200 as an absolute minimum. ciel bleu, Saskia

I really don't think with low jump numbers you should be focussing on freeflying at all. We see more and more problems with wingsuiters diving through formations instead of controlled approaches and docks. A firm basis in belly formations helps out a lot there. I agree that jumpnumbers don't say everything, but you need awareness, skills and a good attitude to safely fly a wingsuit around the sky, safe for yourself and for others as well. Therefore I wouldn't have let you jump a wingsuit so soon anyway. No way would you have all that so soon. ciel bleu, Saskia

I wouldn't recommend a nikon d70 if you want to be able to jump it later on without hassle, a d70s is a much better choice. ciel bleu, Saskia

Tried it on sunday's daily vid (2nd half). Not all scenes work as well, but I was running out of time so I just threw this video together. Rendering it took some more time than usual, duh.... We had an FS3 beginner competition last weekend. http://www.paracentrumteuge.nl/component/option,com_weblinks/task,view/catid,2/id,81/ ciel bleu, Saskia

You want a fast lens, that is, a low f-number (the specs are missing from your examples!). Also you want fast autofocus unless you shoot from a good distance away then you can set the lens to manual infinity. I used to have a nice old Canon push-pull zoom lens, I think it was a 28-135mm f/2.8-f-something. Too lazy to go look it up Loved the push-pull sesign, much better for fast reacting that having to turn the lens barrel real quick. Sold all my Canon stuff though. Right now I have Nikon, got a cheapo 2nd hand sigma 28-105mm f/2.8-f/4 (off the top of my head), I quite like it. It's cheap, relatively fast and also pretty lightweight and can be shot out of hand. Any lens longer and heavier needs a monopod at least or a full tripod and I dislike shooting with one of those for action shots. I need some more wideangle than your mentioned lenses, but this depends on where you stand and where your subjects are. Usually people see me standing and get too close to me even for 28-25mm (esp on a digital camera!). So, no specific "buy this lens" advice, but my advice for anyone looking for a ground lens would be to borrow/rent some different lenses and try them out before you buy something that disappoints. You need to know how much zoom you need (generally speaking, more zoom = worse lens), how fast the lens needs to be (a 2.8 zoomlens can be multiple times as expensive as a slightly slower lens), how much weight you're comfy with (fast lenses can be quite heavy), etc etc. You want a lens that fits your budget and your needs, but my tip is also, you want a lens you have with you instead of one that's at home My sigma is small enough that i can easily stuff it in a backpack and cheap enough to leave in my car so I usually have it with me for when the need arises. ciel bleu, Saskia

The good ol' days - well, last weekend...
dragon2 replied to dragon2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Some pics of the jump they were practicing for: http://www.paraforum.nl/viewtopic.php?t=2170 ciel bleu, Saskia -
I had just one removed, didn't bother me all that much (and I'm a WUSS). Can't remember how many days before I jumped, but I didn't exactly wait out any days, it probably just wasn't the weekend yet... No problem whatsoever with jumping. YMMV. ciel bleu, Saskia

Probably find edges + black&white + invert. edit: premiere pro can do this, no after effects needed. ciel bleu, Saskia

Looks like I'm buying a DCR-HC96E any comments on this camera

It's a nice camera for jjumping, only drawbacks i know of are a docking station needed for firewire and it's too wide for sidemounting. ciel bleu, Saskia -

Is your harness straight? Legstraps even, slipping legstrap hardware? Best bet is to let someone else jump it. If you still have the problem then, try putting it in another rig. What canopy is it, what wingloading, how many jumps on the lineset? ciel bleu, Saskia

One of our very exp jumpers (couple thousand jumps), borrowed a rig w/katana 150 for a few wingsuit jumps (gti) instead of the usual vengeance 135 or spectre 135. After only 2 jumps he decided to not jump that katana again w/wingsuit, the vengeance was way more behaved! ciel bleu, Saskia

Tried a search yet..? Get Flex Z goggles, get the mini version if you have a smallish face. Get clear ones; you'll probably not be allowed to jump anything else for a bit anyway. ciel bleu, Saskia

180 degree front riser requirement for "A"
dragon2 replied to hackish's topic in Safety and Training
Quit whining over here we need to do 3x360 one way followed by 3x 360 the other way on frontrisers for B Luckily I was exempt because of all my crw jumps, but man ciel bleu, Saskia -
It runs on windows, that's promising, although windows ce is old. Does it start up like a pda, can you get to the start menu etc? If not, don't think you can do it. If it does, treat it like a PDA. ciel bleu, Saskia
