The USPA Basic Safety Requirements (BSR's) SIM 2001 section 2-1 part K-2 states that "all students are to be equipped with the following equipment until they have obtained a USPA A license" part K-2-b "a piggyback harness and container system that includes a single-point riser release and a reserve static line [FB]" the [FB] means it takes a USPA full board of directors vote to waive. Now for the post about saving money on cypres saves by making rsl's be on all students........lives not money is saved! All USPA dropzones need to stick to the rules to remain a member, but with that aside. A lot of blood R&D, and years of knowledge went into these guidelines. The FAA is the ultimate authority in the tragic event of a fatality, but to not follow the BSR's sets our sport up on the stand to be ruled on by a higher governing body than the USPA. Here in the states a dropzone would be getting sued left and right if not for the USPA and BSR's as a guideline. There then would be no place to jump! When a student is licensed they then can make their own educated decision about a RSL. I personally don't have them on any of my own rigs. jumpervali

If your using rubber bands then it's OK to double them. NOTE: The line groups need it if your using the large/long ones AFTER the cascades. If your worried about that use small/short ones for the ones after the first four stows for the bag flap. If using normal rubber bands you will only be breaking more band by putting 2 wraps on them, but it's alot better than getting line dump. jumpervali

Try 50 AFF training jumps with an evaluator at $57 a pop just to get ready for AFF camp. That was in 1 week. But, I do get paid to jump as a result of it. The best year I've got was 361 jumps in 96. That was also the time I went from my A to my D, skipped the B & C. That was the cost of 2 jumps. Man I love this shit! Now I co-own a dropzone. HELLLLLLLLLP jumpervali

Very near 1600. Like I tell some of my students "trust me I do this all the time." I know it's more than some, but less than alot. jumpervali

knew it, I knew it, I knew it! Thank God I've always had my counter measures in place. 1- I will only use my computer when I wear my aluminum foil hat. 2- Checked the area for bugging devices 3- Closed all the blinds 4- Turned off my cypres 5- And wear rubber gloves Needless to say though I knew it, I knew it! jumpervali

You weigh total 200 lbs You jump a canopy 150 sq ft. 200/150=1.33 Then you load 1.33 lbs. to 1 sq ft. 1.33 to 1 1.33:1 jumpervali

When I'm going out with an AFF student. I try to visualize the face of my mentor Collis Griffin, and thank the Lord for a chance to be what he was for me to someone else. I don't know if that's superstition but it keeps me happy! jumpervali

Hi Sandy I remember you and Curly from skydive North Georgia, and Air Ventures in Rome. I'm happy you guys got a big plane for the winter, and hope the porter was a blast last weekend. We will be flying the porter on weekends this winter. If you guys need anything just give me a call at Atlanta Air Sportz. Congratulations on the addition to your flight line! Well, lets see.... 1..he is trying to reclose his riser cover. 2..he is trying to tighten his chin cup. 3..his lower arm is still holding onto the other guys mudflap and it looks cool. 4..he is an AFF level 1 student and is not pulling due to being alone in freefall. 5..he is aware of a small amount of bowel pressure building when he opens his mouth in this freefall position. 6.. i just don't see it. jumpervali

You would be surprised how many times up jumpers do this. As an AFF instructor she has seen plenty of personal contact and pilotchutes in her face working with students, so dumping in place was an option. She should, as any jumper should understand that most folks take pull time dead serious. I would say she gets her point and won't do it again. play nice jumpervali AFF-I-01

I'll be under a inflated canopy (main or reserve) by 1000 ft. unless it's a base jump. jumpervali

We had no luck finding the canopy today, but we did find the todays student cutaway main. I watched her chop from next to me (that was so cool), she owes me a case for the save. hehehe........and so does the guy that cutaway last night. What a weekend! jumpervali

To many times groups rally, and poise a view that is their right in this country to speak out on. But they fail to see that the pros they want to come to pass would cause the very freedoms they excised in voicing their views would be a violation of their new rules, to the point of criminal. It's easy to have an opinion in a country that condones it, try it in one where your life is on the line. The need to speak would be a lot less urgent. We may not have a perfect system, but we do have the best! jumpervali

"Keeping in mind that this is the girl I've been spending a lot of time with recently, really trying to get an idea of if I have a chance" So let me guess, all the time you spent with her was the time it took for her to see you like a brother. That's why she felt comfortable enough to talk to you about her problem. There is an oh so fine line between potential boyfriend, and being seen as a brother, and you've crossed it. Ouch! jumpervali

It's all clear to me now, man I was really feeling bad about myself. jumpervali
