*** That trucker guy still with you ___________________________________________ Yeah...he's playing checkers with some college student from Wisconsin. I think I heard them discussing Tolstoy -- so, maybe I misjudged him a bit... I'm sure that by the end of this misadventure, I'll know his whole lifestory. I think I've already talked to all the interesting looking people -- so it will be on to the second tier soon. _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Clear in Lincoln huh? http://www.511nebraska.org/ndortip/index.jsp?MyMap=Eastern Well, I hope all this misery heads your way soon. Wait, that wasn't very nice... sorry, it's just that I've been fighting with the other refugees for leftover church chili and I'm getting a little rowdy...If anyone tries to take my sleeping bag again tonight -- I might have to use that homemade shiv. _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Yep. I'm still a snow "refugee" stuck in the middle of freakin' Nebraska. There are 52 other people stuck with us in this small little church in Gothemberg, NE. Guess the road is closed for the next 70 miles. I can honestly say that I have never wanted to be in Omaha so bad ...what I wouldn't give to be able to order a pizza right now instead of eating crusty donuts and cereal with all the other "refugees." We will probably be stuck here tonight too. I'm going to go stake out a good comfy church pew a little earlier tonight (By the way, I don't know if my work really believes I'm stranded -- so anyone reading this that knows where I work -- feel free to call them tomorrow morning and validate my story

Um... you suck. I think I'm going to try and crash on the floor now, and I'll attempt to dream about what it must be like to live in a state where 60 degrees at night in late November is crappy weather. Night

Wow. Sorry to insta-reply....but I am soooo bored! Most of my fellow refugees are asleep on church pews at the moment (except for one really annoying trucker.) Anyway, glad I'm not the only one awake. We were heading towards Omaha from Wyoming. There's some really nasty stuff out there at the moment, the interstate is actually closed! This is actually the second night in a row that we've been snowed in. Last night it was in northern Wyoming - but they at least had enough hotel rooms. It really could be worse though...we saw ten cars in the ditch (including a state patrol car) and we heard of at least one fatality. I guess I really shouldn't complain about my present situation. _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

I am. Unfortunately. I am a snow "refugee" (using that term very loosely, I know.) Stuck in the middle of freakin' Nebraska at at "shelter." The interstate is closed - the hotels are full, So I'm with about 75 other smelly travelers in a little church. It could be worse I guess. I could not have just figured out that they have wireless _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

One word: "IT" Probably scarred me for life. I will never look at clowns, or storm drains, the same. But then again, I'm a baby. _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

*** Heard something like he had a choice between a skydive sport rig or an emergency bail out rig. Of course he took the bail out rig! __________________________________________ Yeah, I believe this was the case. A local dropzone owner was contacted by the FBI and asked to provide two rigs (as D.B. requested,) one of which was a new sport rig, and the other was the obviously inferior bail out rig; Cooper chose the latter. Despite this, I'd like to think that Cooper made it...although the fact that none of the cash ever made it into circulation makes it hard to believe he got to spend any of it. On a side note, anyone know anything about the 727 he jumped out of being used (temporarily) as a jumpship? A couple of older jumpers have told me stories of making a couple jumps out of the plane in the 80s or 90s. _______________________________________________ _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

My new custom helmet paint job
freeflyflunky replied to gravitysucks's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think it sucks... Just kidding, although I think you might want to throw some props to the girl who: A. Had the "cojones" to tell you your first helmet wasn't exactly as cool as you thought it was, B. Helped you create a far superior design, and C. Put up with her entire house smelling like freakin' paint for, um, FIVE days now! It is pretty cool though ________________________________________ _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates. -
Which one do you want me to be?? Just kidding...feeling a little goofy after staring at the monitor for sooo long. I'm front and center _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Great Song! That's not really why I'm posting though... I'm hijacking because I want to see what my new avatar looks like

Ugh!! So, I've applied to be a tunnel rat at the new tunnel -- sent the resume, the application, the cover letter, etc.. Anyway, waited a week or so and just made the customary "hey, just wanted to make sure you got my stuff" phone call. No problem, right? Wrong! I think (am pretty sure actually,) that my VM sounded completely idiotic! I do fine face-to-face and talking to someone over the phone, but VM!! I think I have some sort of message-leaving-impediment! If anyone sees this Norm guy, be sure to tell him I'm a great (read: not-completely-incompetent) girl! _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Brian Germain on Skydive Radio next week
freeflyflunky replied to diverds's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I would agree that the show is great as-is. It would be better however without all the embarrassing stories about that Jenn chick. I'm sure in reality she's a wonderful girl who would never puposely not buy her husband a SDC shirt. _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates. -
Quote Nope, still can't see it in The Farm logo. Sure I see the one where you DREW the ninja turtle out, but it doesn't look anything like the original. My Goodness! Has anyone ever seen the movie "Mallrats"? Remember that scene where there's one of those magic eye pictures - and the fat guy is there all freakin' afternoon trying to see the sailboat? He's squinting his eyes, turning his head, but he can't see it... Right now I feel like the sensei of the magic eye that is the Skydive the Farm Banner --The Ninja turtle is right there! Stop being the fat guy and just let the Ninja find you... (P.S. I have found that while smoking pot may not thus far have helped me in my freeflying -- it has contributed greatly to this post.) _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Okay - I think you might not be completely crazy... when I first opened it, I thought I saw a little Donatello (or whichever one had the freakin' red bandana) off on the right. However, on closer examination - it was just tree. _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Hmmmm.... What if you were to at least PRETEND to be motivated by something other than sex??? It's novel, I know, but just think of it -- you could substitute your ( I guarantee) transparent as can be obsession/motivation for sex with one of the following: 1.) Your feelings of love/commitment for her 2.) Your genuine concern for her happiness and wellbeing (why is she so pissed?) 3.) Thoughtful consideration of her own sexual needs and desires, i.e; what does it take for her to feel validated and desired so that she actually *gasp* wants to have sex with you? Switch that one with your "what will it take for her to 'give up the goods'" and you might be in luck (or get lucky) this weekend. Just a few thoughts _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Okay - here's another newbie question for you pros (and yes, another HP question from someone light years away from jumping a HP canopy.) The other day, I was listening to a swooper talk about why he chose not to jump at all with an AAD rather than have one he turned off on jumps where he planned to swoop -- He said that in the case where he anticipated needing one (i.e., knocked unconscious,) he wouldn't survive anyway. The reason? With an extremely small and highly loaded canopy, and unconscious "weight" at the end of the pendulum, he would likely go in anyway...Now, I didn't understand this argument, and didn't feel likely interrupting a conversation between two swoopers with my uninformed question. However, since ignorance is embraced here on the forums () I figured I throw it out there and see what the prevailing logic is. _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Okay -- so this isn't skydiving related, but it got my interest when I heard someone at a boogie mention it, and I've been curious about the details ever since. Apparently, a woman survived a passenger plane crash a few years ago wherein the plane (somehow) came "apart" at altitude and she survived after plummeting 27k feet and falling through the canopy of a rain forest before hitting the ground. Story goes that she then managed to walk out (this is all taking place somewhere in South America) on her own. I really want more details on this story!!! If anyone has anything else -- please let me know! _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Quote Might also look up the husband/wife team who took Gold at this year's U.S. Nationals. Team Flew-id. ________________________________________________ I don't know anything about freestyle -- and I wouldn't post if it weren't for the fact that I just met Merriah Eakins ( of Team Flew-id) about two weeks ago and watched her very patiently and painstakingly help a couple of my fellow jumpers who are into freestyle. She even sent them a video to help in their progression. In addition to all her great advice, she's also extremely nice. I wouldn't hesitate to contact her

Quote Night Life - The Plaza _____________________ The Plaza rocks -- but for shopping, NOT the nightlife...For that, I highly recommend Westport, very active scene. As for a DZ - MO River Valley Skydivers is okay - friendly (don't mind the cranky old lady working manifest) and the planes are, well, let's just say they can get airborne :) Have fun! Question: Are you driving or flying? _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Skydive radio rocks By the way Dave -- I hear you were planning on embarrassing me on air with the whole stripper prank thing...For my sake, I'm glad Nick and Joel couldn't wait-- being "punked" at a boogie was bad enough!!! Funny though, especially as I had already told just about everybody there about my mysterious stripper bill
