Are you playing in any tournys later tonight? _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

So I know this is pathetic..so I don't want to hear it. I'm all alone in Colorado, what else am I going to do on a Friday night? Anyway, since poker is about consistency, I've taken the averages of some of the most frequent players for the past four games (over the past three weeks.) Why four? Because 5 games ago I sucked. Anyway, imagine my surprise when I came out on top and two of my poker-nemisises (or is it nemisi?) were basically at the bottom (Dave,Joel) Believe it or not, these numbers should be accurate. Feel free to add yours on their if I've left you off by accident (funny how I assume that anyone else is home on a Friday night....) __________________________________ 4.5: SDR_JennX (Highlands Ranch), 5.75: skinnyshrek(tallahassee), 8.25: girlbase (San Francisco), 9.25: DMskychick (Des Moines), 9.25: SeaKev (Seattle) 9.5: 3andahalf (Lincoln), 10: hp429 (temple) 10: wstrachan (apo), 12.5 SkydiveFarm (rockmart), 15.75 SDR_Stump (Lincoln), 16: jumper12 (high point), 16: NWFlyer (Seattle), 17.5 SDR_Cory (Omahahaha), 17.5 Lrd Thanatos (Marietta), 17.75: Beeeetlerama (Arizona City), 18: Jank Freefly (Hayward), 18: peanut4040 (hazel green 18.5 bob80001 (Kansas City) 19.75 efsJumper (AcDz), 21.75:GanjaR (Lexington), 22: billo1175 (KC Couch Freak), 22.75: shaggio (columbia), 23.25: DZbum (Waterloo), 23.25: Dave (Lincoln), 27.25:nehuskersfan (Ralston) 30.25: Sunpath105 (Coralville), _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

I just remembered that I had a question about another hybrid on the video. There's some very quick video of two belly divers with someone attempting to do head down right underneath?? It almost worked and looks really sweet. Anyone know who that was? _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Quote ------------------------------------------------ Did that 8-way hybrid I was on make the cut? ------------------------------------------------ Was that the really cool one that split from one hybrid into two? If so, then yes

I just finished watching the 2005 CouchFreaks video for the 4th time! It's probably the greatest thing ever. There were men in dresses, men in thongs (women in thongs too if you're into that sort of thing) and lots of kickass skydiving. It was probably the best 40 minutes of my life. I don't really get the chicken thing. But I'm alright with that. Basically I just wanted to say "thanks Dave" for making my lonely life in Colorado condo more entertaining. Believe it or not, looking at Hixxx's ass is actually better at this point than looking at my empty living room. Thanks. _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

If you can't pick a name now, you can always just string together a few that you like and then pick the right one as her personality develops. We named our last kitten Java-Rocket-the-China-Cat-Sunflower and ended up calling her Java. Of course, this might have only worked for me because I'm incredibly indecisive. I guess this will probably cease to work when we have kids. Senator-Thomas-Benjamin-Swoop-O'Neil might have some difficulties in school. _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Well, the tunnel can open now - I am finally here I made it to Denver this weekend and am now getting settled into my new place. I'm a mere 10 minutes from the tunnel! Speaking of which, I was in the building today and I must say that everything is coming along beautifully. There are now SkyVenture/Indoor Skydiving signs on both the front and back of the building. It looks fantastic

Skydive Radio Poker Tourney Tonight, Jan. 19
freeflyflunky replied to diverds's topic in The Bonfire
Quote Hell, it would be nice if these tourneys would start an hour later than they do. I'd stand a better chance of playing in them. _________________________________________ My problem this week was that I just moved (now in mountain time zone) and I had no internet. I was playing in a coffeehouse that closed at 9:00! I was at the final table - and I got booted from my WiFi hotspot. The parking lot didn't have good enough connectivity - so I freakin' couldn't play anymore! Oh well, at least I made the money -

How much do you have now? I might be able to spot you a couple bucks (when you win - they post money to your account...it's pretty cool.) _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates. -

Well - I'm in! I didn't know if I would make it this week what with the move and all I guess we'll see how I do playing in Denver! Speaking of which, are there any other Coloradans playing this week? _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates. -
Okay - so I've been reading all the posts on Shayna and her incident, and I've had some thoughts on the subject, but I had no desire to waste my time posting....so why am I posting now? Because she was just on a local (I'm in Omaha) radio show talking about her experience. Throughout most of the interview (the part that I heard anyway) I was actually very impressed with her. At the very end, however, she totally disappointed me. The two wahoos asked her "did you think about suing the skydiving place?" Instead of saying "no," or "I knew the risks," or "it was no one's fault but my own," or any number of other things, she just laughed for a second and talked about how panicked she was! There are two dropzones that pull students from the Omaha metro area and the tone of interview after that point was incredibly negative towards skydiving. Shayna didn't do anything to correct the host's misconceptions about the incident - and she had plenty of opportunities to do so. Maybe I'm just fuming in the moment - this probably isn't worth my time to post either...it's just that I wanted to reach through the radio and slap her! If you (Shayna) really plan on returning to the sport -- then please do as little as you can to damage it while you're out of it. I don't blame you for your accident - I applaud you for surviving. I don't blame you for the initial rush of media interest that followed your story - it was natural. But I do blame you for further courting that media attention and for not using your time in the limelight to do damage-control. Don't come on a radio station near MY dropzone and giggle about suing another dropzone for an incident that was not their fault. Whew, okay... got that out of my system! Sorry for venting. _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

I just hope that there are that many people playing next week. That was a lot of fun

I think I'm only going to play in the losers' tourney from now on. I think everyone was a little tired - making it that much easier to take some of their money. _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

*** Hey Jenn, where are you from? And what are you doing for SkyVenture Colorado? I think all of us working there should coordinate who is bringing Mary her starbucks for each given day so that way we don't all bring her white chocolate mochas at the same time. ___________________________________________ I'll be up front.

Quote Did you guys know that there is a Starbucks in the same parking lot??? I watched the construction guys work from the drive thru... _________________________________________ I'm sensing this is my time to post! I was already happy enough that I got a job working at the tunnel (Colorado here I come!) but my life is complete now that I know there is a Starbucks within walking distance. As far as bribery goes -- I think I heard that a white chocolate mocha works on Mary. Bribing me won't do you any good - but I do like nice , frothy lattes... Can't wait to meet all of you! Forgive me if I'm panting the first few times I see you - gonna take some time to adjust to the higher altitude! My Pokerstars name is JennX -- but...I won't be there tonight (guess that means someone else can take my spot at the final table) I will watching U2 and Kanye West tonight.

I have NO idea why I clicked on that. Is "vomitty" a word? _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Here are some ideas Victorian era norms that excluded from “proper” society women who had (or were perceived has having) sexual encounters outside of marriage. Until fairly recently, any individuals of “mixed-parentage.” Think of terms like Quadroon, Octoroon, Mestizo, Mulatto, or the infamous “half-breed.” Individuals with a diverse heritage often faced ostracism from the larger society. In the 1950s, the time of McCarthy and a time where likeness and conformity were next to godliness; women who chose to find a place outside of what were considered “traditional” roles. (although it is important to note that, if anything, the postwar period was an anomaly. Prior to the war, women’s roles had been expanding. This continued a trend of greater freedoms for women – the very brief blip-on-the-radar that was the 50’s was a reversal of those trends.) While it may fit better under the umbrella of “discrimination,” I suppose you could say that the many African Americans who braved all-white environs to challenge Plessy V. Ferguson (the first AA male integrated into a white law school, the first white students in Little Rock, etc…) faced both discrimination and ostracism. As far as the vilification part of ostracism – you couldn’t go wrong with discussing how Chinese Americans were vilified prior to the Exclusion Act of 1882. Or, (this is a pretty good one) how various immigrant groups throughout our continuum have been vilified as “stealing” jobs from real Americans. Most exceptionally, recent immigrants from Mexico and Latin America. Okay, so those might not exactly be the best suggestions, I hope they help at least a little! I’m actually much better at doling out grades than I am at coming up with ideas on my own. Sad, huh? If you want to PM me what you have and tell me what level of class you are taking, I might be able to help a little more. However, it looks like you have a bunch of fantastic assistance already. Good Luck! _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

Ostracism n 1: the state of being banished or ostracized 2: the act of excluding someone from society by general consent Dis•crim•i•na•tion 1. The act of discriminating. 2. Treatment or consideration based on class or category rather than individual merit; partiality or prejudice: racial discrimination; discrimination against foreigners. Just thought clarification was necessary. Some posts were spot-on with their understanding of the term and some were just a bit off. I would also add that if McCarthyism is given as the primary example, then the inclusion of “vilification” of an individual or group into the definition is totally acceptable. _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

*** ... cut to the chase: have y'all defiled any relics yet? Made good use of the candlewax or communion media? ____________________________________________ No major defilements yet.... although if we have to stay another night, who knows While I was changing this morning - Joel realized he'd never seen any nudity in a church - so that was a fun moment for him. Slightly inappropriate though _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.

So I'm stuck here with the Pirate, and we got to talking about this whole stranded thing... mainly about who among the people that we know would be the best people to be stranded with (since we're obviously getting on each other's nerves....) Anyway, after eliminating most of our non-skydiving friends for being too boring, we had to eliminate most of our skydiving friends for being too rowdy (although there are five drunk U of W students holed up in the choir room right now) Obviously, that doesn't leave many people that I'd like to be stuck with ... which kinda made me wonder if anyone would really want to be stuck with me... Which brings me back to the pirate. I tricked him into leaving the room (so I could use the computer ) by telling them they had cookies down in the fellowship hall...bwaaah ha ha!!! P.S. Someone just eyed my pillow...if he tries to take it, I may just have to bust out some Ninja style (true, he's like seven...but things are tough here in the shelter....) _______________________________________ Oh, and one more thing...Ninjas ARE way cooler than pirates.
