  1. Having flown with several attendees a few weeks earlier at a basic skills camp on their first bigger flocks, makes this even more scary... Im all for progress, but baby steps...baby steps... Saves on a funeral or two and half a dozen hospital bills... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. Any chance at a normal shot as well? Congrats on the record, but seeing this stuff without lines all over it still tickles my interest most...pretty formations!! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. If with 'sick' you mean 'scary' I agree... 1:09 and 3:10 has two groups not carving around, but pass through eachother at high speed. That stuff hurts and/or kills if one person is only one meter higher/lower. Dynamic/Active flocking is cool, but doing it a bit slower could keep people from turning it into an extreme sport by itself.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. I think the next big step coud be more skills. Seeing people put the same dedicated training into the various subdiciplines, as is happening in VRW and FS. Doing 200 to 500 jumps training for one specific thing to do it perfect, and focussing less on new gizmos and gear to compensate... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. The guy in row 2 was base according to what the organizers submitted to USPA and what the grid is scaled to. With PM as the base, the grid doesnt fit and its not a record. As nice as the formation may be. So it seems some creative licence was taken with the 'predetermined base' in order to approve it as a record. Which is what this discussion is about. Not following rules and cheating to get something validated. Sad as it may be.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. A very simple question to answer would be: was Mike the base you followed? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. I guess this shows what type of person you are... Most other people are more concerned with normal, honest behavior when it comes to official validation of 'records'. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. yea..damn that honesty thing... Are you also stealing cars because elsewhere people have cancer and thats a much more worrying thing? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. From https://wingsuitworldrecord.com/faq/how There are many mentions of the base in the 'how to' section. All of them include pointing to the person in front leading (and people in rows further back defined as secondairy etc base), as well as talking about the person who sets the attitude, speed and pace in a flock. This is not about showing shortcomings in the system. Its about formations being judged according to a system, measured on the base. And suddenly afterward saying the front person wasnt leading, but the person in row two was. Regardless of where it's defined who has to be the base (again, it CAN be the person in row 2). But its about pre-defining that person. And not changing it after the jump. You honestly believe Mike was flying IN FRONT of the person leading, and he was not base for that flock? Answer that one question, instead of juggling around the answer with one liners and diffusion. Its not about defining who the base is via the rules, anyone can be base. We have done formations like these where there was a more complex structure in who flew where. But the key in ALL formations is, the base has to be selected beforehand. And if you REALLY want to pretend to be a total idiot and act like you dont know who is leading the formation in that photo as a base...than you're as big a liar/cheater as the person who dared submit that formation as a record. 10. No..thats you again JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. I made my first wingsuit jump. I think I made my 100th wingsuit jump around that time JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. Seeing the endless stream of emails that non-wingsuit flyers sent in to IPC due to campaigns with false information, and how utterly clueless most of those where, and also seeing the time and effort it costs...for sure I feel like one at times. But seeing the FAI/IPC is working in a very structured step by step way to create a meaningful and functional formation judging standard (not one forced by fake sentiments and email barages), it seems to be an effort worth investing my (own) time and money in. Seeing the right people also see the sense in other systems, and the nonsense in the USPA grid is also encouraging. For the record, FAI/IPC is not in any way involved with the 100 way USPA attempt (not WORLD record), nor will it validate the record now or in the future based on the wonky USPA grid. Its hilarious seeing the false information used to get people to show up. Getting an FAI licence in hopes of seeing it as an official record is false advertising at most. Nothing more, nothing less. But that and calling it a world record is forgiven, as that person apparently knows nothing about IPC/FAI, right? Even more sad and pathetic to see cheating is needed to validate smaller formations submitted recently. Have a good day..Im off to the DZ to fly my wingsuit with friends JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Perhaps attend some different events and jump with different people... As most of the drama seems to stem from the small retarded record scene, while there is a load of awesome funjumping, acrobatics and whatever else out there to have fun with. And if pushing for safety and proper instruction makes me a drama queen afficionado (what it is with people and big words, latin etc), than thats a badge Ill wear with honor Cheers, JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. Sounds a lot like you and Kallend are the drama queens. The drama mostly seems to be centered around money, BOD meetings and 'records'. Avoid those things, and you'll see the wingsuit crowd is nothing but awesome people. Whatever drama there is, it stays on the ground, and the air is all fun and awesomeness. 15. Probably because there's more money to be made in charity JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. Using latin doesnt change the facts - Mike was base - Organisation Ratings mentioned on someones website are made up But personal vendettas against the people bringing these FACTS to light, have severly upset a bunch of groupies who are now trying to distract everyone from the situation with petty cries. Edited for zpelling JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. +1, like, kuddos and all of that Single point measurement (no body size) Round radius...a square one doesnt make sense Here is a write up for IPC: http://flylikebrick.com/images/ipc_presentation/IPC_circle_system.pdf Jonathan Taggle was also in favour of this system Within IPC. Hope stuff like this shows that there are more honest, less interpative ways of judging. And we'll ignore the fact that the position and lens of the cameraman is what really makes or breaks a formation as a record JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. Here ya go... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. And what about cheating to get records accepted? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. I see a formation with Purple Mike leading, and people are now saying this is a record because the guy in row 2 is leading the flock? Everyone is flying based on the speed and angle that guy is flying...not at all flying with Mike leading, because it doesnt fit 'the grid'? Dont know how you call it, but I call it cheating...sad to see this is what its coming to. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. Some shots from Hungary...carving my Havok around flocks, acrobatic flights and more... https://vimeo.com/48843544 JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. Biggest difference is probably your mindset, and not having a huge focus on the ground and/or horizon. So you are actually 'feeling' the flying, instead of doing it based on sight. And thus getting the more into the right angle of attack for optimal flight... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. You probably have a Mac or have had the card/camera attached to one at some point? It creates a set of (invisable) folders with references to files/trash etc. And though its only empty reference files, they show up as actual files on a PC. Ive had 256mb usb sticks with 10GB files on em, but its mostly just PC/Mac communication not being completely the same. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. Just enjoy the ride, and stop planning. Everyone has a different set of skills, tempo in which they jump, and different speed at which new things catch on. Some people will need about 200 to 300 skydives to be ready for base. Than another 100 or so in a wingsuit and than slowly start combining the two. Other may need 500 or 1000 jumps to get the experience and do things within their own skills envelope. Dont rush things. Set goals, but try and not see everything you do, inbetween where you are at and your goal, as a hurdle or thing you 'have to do' to get to doing what you really want to do. Becoming a skydiving ninja and samurai master in a wingsuit before even taking on the path of basejumping is something thats not only recommendable, but also a lot of fun. Dont put any jump numbers on anything. Just jump and have fun, and take things one step at a time. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
