  2. http://wingsuitcompetition.com/teams.htm You guys (and girl) are there Funny how the 'niche' dicipline of wingsuit flying (as its concidered in Holland) has a bigger showing in this competition (5 teams with Dutch members) then any of the other 'big' contest diciplines such as freefly and CRW in the oncoming Dutch nationals etc. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. Checking the day video from Teuge (nl) I think I may have spotted a dark horse*, who wouldnt be too bad a bet for competition entry... 'Wiggah and the Wild Things'? People looking to enter the competition without a team. Drop us a line at flylikebrick@gmail.com. We may be able to hook you up with some other cool flyers! Monday morning visual..Gadgets bald cahones...nice... *obscured pony reference JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. There is a good bar at the dz! Open till late! Gadget, I think dye-ing your pubes blonde could turn your team into 2 guys and 1 blonde too...maybe an idea? Looking forward to see all the pretty docks and fancy moves! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. http://wingsuitcompetition.com/ Has had a minor cosmetic update (we have a logo!) and with a bit of luck, we'll also have multiple language versions online soon. Anyone willing to help with a French version, please send me a PM. Russian version is already being worked on by the lovely Lena More coming soon! We have a few more teams who are most likely coming, but havent announced anything publicly yet. If you're thinking of coming! Let us know! Its time to show people we are also a serious dicipline when it comes to artistic competitions Looking forward to April! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. Its not a wall-strike... He turns away and avoids it..though probably was only half a meter of less removed from hitting it... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. Ha ha ha... man has he got you fooled! haha..I read over that one too.. "Above avg. selfproclaimed best on the internet" probably comes closer JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. Nothing but praise for this explanation... Looking forward to fly with you later this summer! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. Nice...some good 'balls of steel' flying.. It mentions the JetEngines in the description, but I dont think the flight angle indicates the use of those (nor do I see them anywhere in the video) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. I think what a lot of people are missing is that the jumper numbers generally quoted, are what is deemed the minimum experience needed to safely do so. This doesn't mean having a certain amount of jumps will always mean someone is skilled/experienced enough to do so. Far from it.. But taking the low experienced skydivers out (who are way impressed with their own close to superman-ability to quickly 'get things', brag about being 'ahead of the curve' yet will later, when they have more experience, almost always agree they where naive, ill-informed and low skilled at the time) means you have at least some bit of experience where the person COULD have gathered the essential skills needed. The 'skill factor' you talk about is one that is roughly present in the current jump limit. Though what you do in those 200 jumps (and how quickly you learn things) determines for a large factor IF you will be ready. Navigation, reaction time, and in case of flocking, experience in flying with others, judging and reacting on approach speeds, and general awareness are all things severely lacking at low jump numbers. Unless there is a huge sum on tunnelhours (thus freefall related experience) present, its mostly naive thinking on your behalf...but you are liable to get one of the famous "Im such a rebel!" stickers if you want one.. 11. Its not a dress rehearsal...its part of the road you travel... You just skipped to the end desitination in a half-assed maner... But your naive 'insight' is pretty common among people who don't meet and (thus) don't agree with the rules and regulations made for safety JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. 200 jumps is nothing in terms of jump numbers to anyone SERIOUS about learning to skydive and/or fly a wingsuit.. If it takes soo much effort to rack up the tiny-weeny required 200 jumps, and you need to cut corners to be able to do something shouldnt be doing yet...then what should convince me that sayd person will THEN do suddenly start investing time in properly learning to fly? You're on this planet for more then 1 day...try and use that time you have in a sensible way, and take the time to properly learn and experience things instead of rushing through them... 13. Lets do this properly then! 1. Gustavo 2. David Haygarth 3. Alejandro Lopez 4. Jarno Cordia 5. Tomas Sevén 6. Benny 7. Mette - Johan Wild-thing (maybe) - Henny Wiggers (maybe) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. There are some good 2nd hand options, meaning you only fuck up a 300$ piece of equipment if you slide in over a gravel road By the time you want to start flying again, and/or go looking for a suit, drop me a line, and we'll meet on a DZ around here, and well guide you where needed (no charge.) 15. You probably mean 16:9/widescreen mode? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. There are basicaly two techniques to do so. You can put some gentle presure on both arm and legwing on the opposing side, at the same time. This causes your wingsuit to slighly tilt, and slide one way. But this should be an almost subliminal move. Only 'thinking' it is practicaly enough to do so. This sideslide technique is be quite big/broad, and can be used to close a conciderable gap between you and another flyer. The second technique resembled what people do to steer/manouvre under a hangglider. Use your hips to manouver inside your suit. Putting a little pressure on with your pelvic bone (the little pointy bit that sticks out). Using suble pelvic controlls, you will be able to sideslip quite precise within formations. Its the same pelvic moves up and down that will help you with subtle level differences. Though flapping/opening/closing of wings also works, it usually causes irratic and big moves within a formation. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. All the safety issues aside, samera flying is a costly hobby/sickness. I think the wisest point to start flying a camera, is the point where all the money you will invest in camera-gear, is no longer needed to be spent on getting more jumps (thus skills and experience). JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. Impressed with the formations, especialy in terms of level and dicipline... European flyers just rock the planet! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. Any chance at a link with pix that works for those of us who refuse to get a facebook account? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. Looking forward to this one! Costyn is also hopping by to flock and fly! Who else is coming!? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. Most stuff Yuri writes is filled with humor....never intenational.. But dang if I aint always close to crapping my pants when I read his stuff.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. Some words (or pix) on creating this box are also more then welcome JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. I fully agree with this one...as alone as we may stand in that view If someone is learning to take pictures with some cheep gear, untill he can shell out the cash for something good. Good for him. The pictures may be far from perfect in terms of quality (due to optics, not due to flying!). But to the person making the tandem, that (free) picture is gold. If ANY money is asked for the pictures..then yes...Id definately object to handing someone anything substandard and less then perfectly sharp.. Remembering my first jump...I have a photo of my first staticline exit. Shot from the ground by another students dad. Its a picture where the plane is barely visable, and you only see a spec thats most likely me.. But to me, that picture was like 'the one ring' at that point..gold! As shitty as a picture may be...it can be of great vallue to a person (note I didnt say costumer) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. I gave you the advise to quit skydiving and BASE and start a lederhosen-coffeebar, but you also didnt listen...why start giving others advice when you dont listen yourself JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. This is what I take offence to in your thoughts... Ditto. Why.... I do a lot of tandemvideos on my home DZ, and when pictures are not included in the deal. Just for fun and practice I take stills along every once in a while. And if there are nice pictures in there, I mail one or two good ones to the costumer. I understand why you guys (and girl) are upset if it's commercial pictures they payd for. But if its just playtime, and the (maybe less then optimal) pictures are just a mere bonus...why take offence in that... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
