You wouldn't be referring to our old TM now would you? For some reason these people are part of the POPS club, have so many faded nasty colors on their canopy, and COMPLETELY ignore the safety breifings about not landing in the swoop lane. Every fucking time. The good news is, by about 1-2 pm, they are either wore out, or their arthritus medication stopped working. Maybe it is because of all the knee trauma they get from that bitchen landing they get every time. Who says 7-cells aren't cool. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....

Oh man, thats awesome. I was in Lake Havasu for a week, (it gets hot as hell there) and all I had to sleep in was the back of a truck. I brought my window a/c unit and make a plywood cutout to fit the back of the canopy opening thus blocking off the outside and supporting the unit. Then plugged it into the rv pole. It got cold as hell inside the back of that truck when it was 90+ outside. The problem was, I needed someone to close me inside the truck, as I couldn't get it all in place from inside and close at the same time! Duh. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....

I seriously need some prayers and/or vibes right now...please.
Vectracide replied to Muenkel's topic in The Bonfire
Wow dude. That is some serious stuff. I can't imagine. I am not going to give you vibes, because I don't personally belive in that stuff. What I will say, is that you have the power of belief. It is much more powerful that vibes. I know you truely believe that you will come thru this, and for that I do too. Your mind is a very powerful thing, and thou it isn't completely doing what it is supposed to right now, you cannot destroy the personal power and will that you have. Good luck dude. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate..... -
Ya know, I had a vasecotmy recently, and, THEY said it wouldn't hurt at all. Sure the procedure didn't hurt at all.....its the carrying of the swollen lemon sized nuts with ice on them for the next week and a half that sucks ass..... Funny how they don't tell you that. Bastards. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....

I'm glad stratostar is finally giving some advice other than the abuse he puts his own gear thru. Seriously, there is nothing wrong with washing your container. Trick is to not make a habit out of HAVING to do it due to landing in the mud. I agree with stratostar with the soakin in the tub with a gentle detergent, like woolite, and barely warm water. Get most of the grime off before putting in the tub. Dunk it and swirl it around to get all the air out of the fabric and place an object on it to keep it under water. Go surf porn for an hour or so. Come back and clean with a soft bristle brush on the really crappy areas, then agitate the hell our of it for about 5 minutes. Drain water. Fill tub with water again and let soak in just water for another hour. Agitate the hell outta it again. Drain water. Get 5 gallon bucket and place rig on top of it, draping the harness over the bucket. Place showerhead on the rig for 20 minutes and keep moving rig around until there is no resemblence of soap or suds. Rinsing is the most important factor here. I choose to place in my washer on the spin cycle only, but that is because I have a front loader with no center destroyer. I spin on high speed and that gets most of the water out. Let dry on a clean beach towel, but not hanging, in the most natural position for the rig. Maybe even hanging on a chair with the shoulder straps over the backrest, as long as its symmetrical. Sounds anal, I know. As far as your main goes, call manufacturer and get their instructions. More than likely you can have a rigger take care of it. Jumping gear with dirt still on/in it only makes the damage worse. Its 6k, like you said. Treat it as such and it will look good and last long. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....

Thousand Oaks and Simi isn't even in LA county. Its Ventura Co. Yes, they dont have nasty places like you said....thats my whole point. Thanks for proving it even further for me. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....

I also included San Fernando. It has higher crime than all of the towns north. It is where he asked about, and got info on. Your personal experience doens't compare to stats 100,000's deep in individuals experience with the crime there. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....

You can disagree all you would like, but perhaps you should look at the hard facts instead: Crime statistics for Los Angles Co. http://losangeles.areaconnect.com/crime1.htm San Fernando http://sanfernando.areaconnect.com/crime1.htm Burbank http://burbankca.areaconnect.com/crime1.htm For Simi Valley just over the hill off the 118 http://simivalley.areaconnect.com/crime1.htm For Thousand Oaks just up the road in Ventura Co. off the 101 http://thousandoaks.areaconnect.com/crime1.htm There are also 7 separate gangs operating in San Fernando. Proof is in the pudding. Just because you dont see it personally and havently witnessed it first hand, doesn't mean it doesnt exist. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....

Dude, whatever you do......dont live there, just work there. The Valley is a shitty area. I worked in several areas of the Valley in the early to mid 90's. Not a good place to live, unless your up in the hills, and very rich. Lets put it this way, in the early 90's, there was a car jacking a 1/2 a block away from where I was detailing cars for the Car Wash Guys, and the bullet the fuckface shot hit my truck. Not only did he shoot my truck (by accident) but he killed the woman for her car.....that she was giving him without resistance. Of course this can happen anywhere, as I am sure those that live there will defend, but that is just one facet that is wrong with the area. I would recommend looking into Canoga Park, Agoura Hills, Simi Valley, or even up into Ventura County depending on where in the Valley you will be working. I wouldnt want to drive much past De Soto, or Balboa Ave from that distance. Good luck dude. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....

Skydive Monterey Bay - New plane, DZO
Vectracide replied to brianfry713's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Ahh....bummer. I know the feeling at my DZ with our KA. That only reinforces my belief that a nice Porter fills that need perfectly. Its a single engine with 1/2 the maintenace of the KA and Otter, it has a huge door with all kinds of step, and holds 9-10 jumpers. Its the perfect medium for a DZ that can't fill a twin with jumpers consistently. Pop a -34 in one and your golden. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate..... -

15K lifts is pretty nice. Regardless the aircraft. Doubly nice when the ride is that quick... -

Its going to be a OEM frame that will be modified. So, if Im correct, that wont be an issue unless you have some info on that. I know I will have to have it inspected by DOT when done for licensing. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate..... -

Vectracide replied to Vectracide's topic in The Bonfire
I'm not quite sure what your getting at. Yeah, the frame is the first step. I haven't decided if I am going to get a frame that has been cleaned up,(bracket removal and neck change), or buy one used and do it all myself. I would enjoy the latter more, but sometimes, its a good idea to have the foundation of the project done by a pro. That way, I can just bolt on most of the stuff. There will still be a shitload of fab work to be done. Seat pan, tank extension, shaped fenders, battery relocate. I am even contemplating making it an air ride system in the rear, but don't know if I will have enough room for everything that needs to fit under the seat. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate..... -

Sorry to hear that. As for us, we have an awesome relationship when it comes to things like this. She knows how passionate I am when I get involved with hobbies and such. She enjoys seeing me have fun with them. Of course, there are things she wished I didn't do...like jumping, but she supports it as much as someone can when they dont like the idea of how easily one can die while doing it. She's never told me I can't do anything. That one measure of a good woman. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate..... -

For many years, I have had this image of a custom bike in my head. It haunts me ever so lightly. Its never a problem, but always seems to be there, back in the cobwebs, ready, but only if I am. Slightly like a dare, but without the antagonism associated. Like a beautiful woman that is willing, but not forceful. For some reason, I seem to be at the crossroad of a decision to go for it and build. I know this will take some cash over some years to complete, but for some reason that doesn't seem to be the only consideration I should be taking. I just can't put my finger on what it is...... I want to do this, but wonder, at my age, should I be taking on another interest that doesn't include my family. My wife doesn't ride, or skydive, or dirtbike, or hunt, or fish, or shoot, or anything that I do. Kids are too young to do any of these quite yet so that isn't a factor. At what point does one stop trying to include loved ones in their interests or sacrafice a dream, just to fit anothers mold? Just so you have an idea of the style, its not OCC style. Its more of a European style hardtail, mixed with some Mexican Cholo influence. Not much chrome, lots of black, drag bars, dropped with 41 degree rake, hidden controls Arlen Ness style, foot clutch on right, gears on left, blacked out shortie pipes with a 210-230 in the rear. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate..... -

Wow, I dont know about this move. It is a step back in the wrong direction if you ask me. Yeah, KA's are fast but the have a higher exit ground speed and a smaller door....by about 1/2! If you ask any serious RW or FF group which plane they would rather jump for the majority of the time, they would say otter. Hands down. Shit.....a pumped up Porter is better than a fast KA. Yeah its slower, but its got a better glide ratio and a huge door. Cheaper to run to boot. That means cheaper lifts as well. KA's are great for the DZO that likes to travel, but this doesn't put the jumper incentive / DZ operations first. If your a tandem factory.......fuck it....great plane. Everything else....bleh. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate..... -
LOL, oops....maybe that's why people didn't much reply to this one..... Ewwww.....he crapped in his buddies TP roll.......that's kinda wierd...... ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....

I had the pleasure of jumping with my mom a couple months ago. My bro came out, he jumps too, and we did a tandem with her. I led the exit to get them exiting, and bro did a nice dock on TM hand with a couple spins. All planned of course. We got some cool footage and my mom had an amazing experience that she vows to do it once a year. Whats the coolest, is now I have been able to give my mom the ability to understand what it is that drives us. Until then, she couldn't grasp it. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
