Honestly, most parents and guardians are in denial. They simply refuse to believe that their flesh and blood can be anything but perfect. After school I coach the American Heart Associations Jump Rope team for my school. We meet twice a week for an hour (which always turns into 1.5 hours) then we trave around to schools in GA and perform our routine for the entire school or during the intermission of high school and college ball games. The kids are all inner city kids with much bigger hearts and a willingness to help others than most people. They have to pay for their uniforms (raise money), do jumps through miles of parades, and most can out jump the acrobats in the Ringling Brothers Circus. You try to double dutch while doing a back flip. My kids rock. Oh, and they have to keep a B average and stay out of trouble, too. It was that old community that motivated me to drive to Eloy for the first Dz.com gathering at that DZ at the Memorial Day boogie in 2002. This was after the first US DZ.com gathering in the fall of 2001 at Spaceland. There was only about a dozen DZ.commers in Eloy for that boogie and only a handful more at the first DZ.com gathering at the Holiday Boogie in Eloy that Christmas. Even though the numbers were low, it was like meeting old friends whom I had known for a while. Well, I had known them for two years online. The site has grown exponentially, with many growing pains inside and outside of the online community. Too bad it will never be like it was even just 5 years ago. OK, so now I'm sad. That year was the best. I remember hanging with WENDYW, (you know i LOVE YOU GIRL),Deuce, Cornieman, FF Hol, JT, Big Ben, Sunny, SM!, Katie, Lou, Bets, Lew, CanuckUSA, and so I'm leaving tons of people out but you get the point. I agree with Kitty. There are a lot of people who are only here to see how really gross they can be and could care less about skydiving. I remember way back when (8+ years ago) when we really did talk about skydiving and plan trips to see each other and develop those friendships. No most of those people along with myself don't post much anymore. That said...I do miss the fun times we shared and I miss many of you guys; however, I can't make myself take advantage of my free time to read much anymore because there is just so much crap. I miss the Pub, laughing and playing only to find out HH was one of the people in the pub when he kicked someone off. Guess those were the good old days. HH...thank you for what you do to make this place a good place to hang out and talk to friends. Maybe one day it will be back like it used to be.
