I do not miss those days as hot reserve always resulted in some crappy DC-9 hop flight with meals both ways and two FA's...of course that was back in the day when FAs actually served full meals throughout the cabin. Play jokes on the crew schedulers. Call and say you are there then call back and say you are just leaving the house...only to call back and say you are kidding and sitting in the crew room. Makes em want to send you out quickly rather than having to sit the entire time.

One of Skydivings GREATS! I'll never forget the Beez showing me his wedding ring at the Mountain boogie laughing and cutting up about how crazy his new bride must be for saying yes. A child I taught contracted MSRA a few years back and almost died. Readers Digest did a good piece on the spread and it's prevention. I hate that this has happened because I believe skydiving has added alot to the St Pats festival; however, the county sees it as a liability even though I was in the meeting with the airport authority when we first started this and we told them there would be alcohol. The response was to clean up the mess and keep it within moderation. I believe we have stayed within these guidelines. Their loss. That is a big problem. You were not told by an official. They may have made someone pour out beer if they felt they were already intoxicated or driving so they may not have said anything to you. As a local whose husband is on the CITY police force (not the force who did the investigations) and a skydiver I have to say I believe the Sheriff's office and GSP were overwhelmed. I believe it was because when there is a death they are taught to look for a suspect. Unfortunately, that is not the case here so they had no idea what to do. They locked us all down in the FBO and asked standard questions (address, height, weight, etc) because they had no idea what information they needed. They were not sure if they had everyone who was involved so they came across a bit gruff; however, I know some of the guys personally and they are not really that way unless it is necessary. They simply wanted to make sure it was an accident....wouldn't you want them to do that if it were you who had died? I drank a beer and carried one to the FBO and finished it. One of the guys politely asked me to finish it quickly and hide the bottle. Neither of us got attitudes. The problem with the beer was if they found out it was intentional then they would have wanted to do blood alcohol tests. As for lockdown and being forced to pour alcohol out. It could have been a case of public drunkenness which even in rural GA is not allowed. It could have been a case of an officer not knowing what to do so he tries to protect in any possible way. It could have been two attitudes...only you who had a problem can answer that. Those that chose to leave the airport after drinking, well, if you were drinking and driving it was wrong. Yes, I had someone drive me home because I knew I had drank. Rather than try to get out of taking the responsibility if you got a DUI some people are wanting to fuss because they screwed up and broke a law then got caught. If you can't do the time....don't do the crime. That leads to drugs. DRUGS are illegial. Yes, I know for a fact many of you come to a boogie just to hang out and get high with your friends. Fine, but don't expect those in authority to ignore it when you KNOW it is against the law. Skydivers are still not above the law anywhere. If you have a problem with following the laws of the host town...STAY HOME or be prepared to have them harass you next year. This is my town. I grew up here. Yeah, there are things about Dublin that drive me crazy, but it is still where I live, work, raise children, and enjoy my passion once a year at the Dublin Boogie. I like to think the idea came from our many conversations and when I could I worked hard with you to ensure it's success. All that said....Yes, I want you to come back, but with rules. I want those rules enforced. I want the local officials to understand what we do so that they can better respond to incidents.
