  1. Of course, most new skydivers will never reach 500 jumps, let alone 1,000 jumps.
  2. Reading, or the ability to read will open whole new worlds for you, my friend. Try this. Feel free to ask about any words you don't understand. Why Liberals and Atheists Are More Intelligent Satoshi Kanazawa* * To whom correspondence should be addressed. E-mail: S.Kanazawa@lse.ac.uk. Abstract The origin of values and preferences is an unresolved theoretical question in behavioral and social sciences. The Savanna-IQ Interaction Hypothesis, derived from the Savanna Principle and a theory of the evolution of general intelligence, suggests that more intelligent individuals may be more likely to acquire and espouse evolutionarily novel values and preferences (such as liberalism and atheism and, for men, sexual exclusivity) than less intelligent individuals, but that general intelligence may have no effect on the acquisition and espousal of evolutionarily familiar values (for children, marriage, family, and friends). The analyses of the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (Study 1) and the General Social Surveys (Study 2) show that adolescent and adult intelligence significantly increases adult liberalism, atheism, and men’s (but not women’s) value on sexual exclusivity. 3. Here is a clue for you: UI? Savings? Property equity? Investment interest? Other partner still working?
  4. Or they could, on a rotating basis, boycott the regular economy. For example, not purchasing products of company xx for four weeks. With a U-6 of almost 30M that's a lot of economic cloud. If that were too happen, some of the smart-asses who commented here might find themselves joining the ranks of the unemployed.
  5. Also this one from Germany, approx. 2000: Lifetime Sentence for Skydive Murder A 33 year old German skydiver was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison for the death of a female skydiver in Münster. The judge's decision stated it was proven the man sent the 31 year old woman to her death by manipulating her parachute because of an unrequited relationship. The convicted man confessed to the crime but later claimed his innocence. The young female jumped from 3000 meters (10.000 ft) unaware of the manipulation. Her main canopy, reserve and Cypres failed and she hit the ground at high speed. He packed a (i) line-over malfunction on the main, (ii) cut the reserve pin cable, and (iii) had the Cypres loop routed outside the cutter.
  6. Congrats! Though if you had killed my kid doing 50 mph in a 25 mph residential street, I'd be after you big time now. Think about it before getting all too happy about having beaten the system!!!!
  7. Given the current economic, political, and societal climate it completely escapes me why anyone would want to immigrate to the US at the present time. You are aware that the country is rapidly devolving into third-world territory?
  8. That's just John: he is pretty fucked up in the head telling from all the other drivel he has been posting.
  9. Ever tried to explain skydiving to a whuffo? Same w/ a kiddo/kids! You can't!
  10. And here I ask you: Why are not more people outraged at Pat Robertson or Rush Limbaugh comments' regarding Haiti? Same answer! Everybody is too busy fighting for survival, and decency goes by the wayside. The US is next in-line of failed states and societies, imho. We certainly have the majority of the world's share in Public Nuts.

    Help Haiti

And here we have another opinion pulled straight from the ass! I suggest (i) you read up on the histories of the DR/ Haiti and the wars between them; (ii) understand the difference in cultures (Hint!: one is a Latinamerican country, the other is straight out of Africa); (iii) and maybe, just maybe, spend a decent amount of time in either country outside the tourist ghettos (e.g., AI resorts, Labadee). After that, let's revisit your suggestion...
  12. Typical Anglo-Saxon fear mongering. See, http://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=559&langId=en. I think you will find the out-of-pocket expenses in France for emergency treatment quite reasonable (that is, there aren't any), and the quality of care provided second to none. No, you're not. Depending on the country you visit or the injury/illness you suffer you could still find yourself facing a treatment bill and/or receiving substandard care if you don't have any supplementary insurance.
  13. Not sure I fully understand where you are coming from... But if you are a Spanish/EU National and are enrolled in your country's medical insurance system, you are fully covered under the "European Directive for Cross-Border Health Care." That means you are basically covered for all medical emergencies in all 27-member states, as well as, to a lesser extent, being able to seek fully reimbursable medical treatment in any of the member states (aka, "medical tourism"). I take it that you have a EU Health Insurance Card (EHIC, w/ chip); you can use it from Spain to Norway to get medical treatment. AMERICANS, EAT YOUR HEART OUT!!!!
  14. This is a proud day in Switzerland for all whom Islam discriminates against: Jews, homosexuals, women, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists and agnostics...in short, the majority of the world's inhabitants. It is a message that Islamic intolerance will not be tolerated. It is a vote for Western liberal democracy and against totalitarian theocracy. When they allow a Christian cathedral to be built in Riyadh or Tehran with a prominent steeple, when they allow Christian women in Saudi Arabia to drive cars, walk down the street with men they are not married/related to and drink openly in bars and restaurants then this issue should be revisited. As it now stands, I don't see the problem.
  15. Continental European/ Japanese. Anything but Anglo-Sexan. After all, they reliably screw *any* pooch...
  16. WRONG!! You did not come into this world paying for your own healthcare and delivery. How about childcare wellness? Care to amend your statement?
  17. Just asking the question shows that you never were a skydiver to begin with!! Who gives a fuck? Did you ask your mom for permission before stepping out of the door the first time? And no, I don't skydive any longer. Nevertheless, I still fuck pretty well!!!
  18. BIZARRE! What does this tells you about the society we are living in?
  19. Only in America. The self-proclaimed greatest country on Earth....
  20. Sounds like a good guy to me. War, or the prospect of it, can do that to people. It's the war and war effort that's crazy, not how people react to it (ante or post deployment). November 6, 2009 Gunman ‘Mortified’ About Deployment to War By JAMES DAO WASHINGTON — Born and raised in Virginia, the son of immigrant parents from a small town near Jerusalem, he joined the Army right out of high school, against his parents’ wishes. The Army, in turn, put him through college and then medical school, where he trained to be a psychiatrist. But Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the 39-year-old man accused of Thursday’s mass shooting at Fort Hood, Tex., started having second thoughts about his military career a few years ago after other soldiers harassed him for being a Muslim, he told relatives in Virginia. He had also more recently expressed deep concerns about being sent to Iraq or Afghanistan. Having counseled scores of returning soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder, first at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington and more recently at Fort Hood, he knew all too well the terrifying realities of war, said a cousin, Nader Hasan. “He was mortified by the idea of having to deploy,” Mr. Hasan said. “He had people telling him on a daily basis the horrors they saw over there.” Major Hasan was killed by the Fort Hood police following the shooting spree, in which 11 people, many of them soldiers, were killed, and at least 31 others wounded. The shootings occurred at a readiness center where soldiers are put through a series of medical, dental, legal and other paces in preparation for being deployed. Though Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas reported that Major Hasan was to be deployed later this month, that could not be confirmed with the Army Thursday night. Nader Hasan said his cousin never mentioned in recent phone calls to Virginia that he was going to be deployed, and he said the family was shocked when it heard the news on television Thursday afternoon. “He was doing everything he could to avoid that,” Mr. Hasan said. “He wanted to do whatever he could within the rules to make sure he wouldn’t go over.” Several years ago, that included retaining a lawyer and making inquiries about whether he could get out of the Army before his contract was up. But Nader Hasan said the lawyer told his cousin that even if he paid the Army back for his education, it would not allow him to leave before his commitment was up. “I think he gave up that fight and was just doing his time,” Mr. Hasan said. Nader Hasan said his cousin’s parents were both American citizens who owned businesses, including restaurants and a store, in Roanoke. He declined to confirm reports that they were Jordanian, but said the parents, who are both dead, had immigrated from a small town near Jerusalem many years ago. Records show that Major Hasan received his undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech University and his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. He did his residency at Walter Reed Medical Center and then worked there for several years before being transferred to the Darnell Army Medical Center at Fort Hood earlier this year.
  21. It was to me!! I got $4,500 for the American-made POS (2002 Ford Explorer) that needed a new transmission after only 90k mi./ 7yrs. Suffice it to say that in this life I won't consider/ buy another American-branded (Ford, GM, Chrysler) car. My money went to Japan Inc. instead. In hindsight, it was perfect timing. Had the transmission blown two months earlier/ later, I would have really been out-of-luck. P.S.: Ruled out American women a long time ago: also, too much money for too little.
  22. Your Freedom of Speech and my Freedom of Speech are two different things, and not even of the same coin!!! In much of Europe, Limbaugh, Gleen Beck, or, for that matter, Fox News, would not fall under Freedom of Speech but Hate Crime. I am glad the EU does not honor YOUR interpretation of Freedom of Speech. Freedom of speech is a good principle for any nation to honor, regardless of how it's enshrined in their law.
