I've gone to Edisto Island (~45 min or so from Charleston) most summers for the past 6 or 7 years. It's very laid back, non-touristy, and before Memorial Day not crowded at all (i.e., look down the beach and see at most 5-10 people in each direction). There aren't any hotels on the island, houses are available for rent by the week and condos are available for I think 3 nights or more (www.edistorealty.com). I've also been to other nearby islands on day trips, and really I don't think you would go wrong with any of them!

I wasn't one for the fast food type jobs. I think I would have hated it so much I wouldn't have shown up half the time. When I lived in Kansas I coached a kids gymnastics team as a second job. Now that I've moved and hours aren't as good at my "real" job I'm working as a tutor so I have really flexible hours that I can pick each week.

While I can theoretically say I'd never do it, I think there are situations in which it might be in the mother's best interests (i.e., rape, serious risk to mother's health). I would never want to take that option away from someone, and I honestly don't know what I would do if I were put into the position of having to make that decision myself.

This week it has ranged from $1.97 to $2.19 at the place I drive by every day in Toledo, Ohio - not sure why, but it seems to jump up 20-30 cents at a time then slowly work its way back down to around $2.00. This morning it was $2.05.

Hey Jeff- Welcome to the forums. I think we talked before on PM, I'm in Ohio. Have you gotten to jump your new rig yet? Mine should be arriving next month!

I don't have any basis for comparison as I just bought my first helmet - I'm sure others will add that. My only advice is that helmets are one thing that's important to try on yourself. I chose the one I have because I tried on several and it was the one that fit me the best. The one that others like may not be the one that works best for you.

I would suggest browsing through the classifieds on this site. Those above are right about searching the forums and not buying yet because what you want/need will change very quickly in the beginning, but it never hurts to get an idea of what tends to be available used and how much people are asking for it. When you start jumping again, if you feel the need to buy something right away start with things like goggles, gloves, altimeter, and helmet.
