  1. Damn, you must work for the same firm as me. We call her extra tall blonde self "Minnie mouse on steroids". Everytime she opens her mouth and that squeeky ass voice comes out, I want to pull a plastic bag over her head! 2. "my office is 10 minutes from Great Falls on the Potomac River" bite me

  4. E.J. is awesome!! By far one of the best paddling coaches I've ever encountered. Have you ever watched him in a competition? Your mouth will hang open in pure amazement of his skill (well, mine did )- gifted - he truly is gifted. By far one of the nicest people I have ever met. Damn, I miss him, maybe I should give him a call. Hell, I miss all my paddling buddies - skydiving took me away . I just don't have the time to do both, wish I did though. 5. http://www.americanwhitewater.org/rivers/state/AL/ This is the link to American Whitewater, all the rivers in Alabama. Hope this helps, it looks like it has some good class III water. Damn, I may have to skip jumping one weekend and paddle a river or two sometime soon. Next time a sunrise steals your breath or a meadow of flowers leaves you speechless, remain that way. 6. Jackson Kayak..... I'm jealous!!! E. J. is a good friend, although I haven't talked to him in a long time. His kids are awesome paddlers too! I have 2 Eskimo Zwos and love them. I've had Piranna, Daggar, Necky & Wave Sport, but I like the Eskimos. Have you "foamed" your boat for a contoured fit? This can also help when rolling, it gives your feet something to press against. I can only hold my breathe for 6 seconds, so it took me time to learn to relax. It's not always easy to know when the boat has settled into the right spot for rolling. A back deck roll is pretty much the same as the emergency roll. It is meant to be used in shallow, combat water. The best way to learn to relax & wait it out is by rolling over (flat water is the best to practice in, ie: pool, lake) and just sitting there. Have someone splash around and make "waves". It will help you to feel more comfortable just hanging upside down. When you're hanging in such a manner, tell yourself "not yet, relax, just another second". I'm impressed that you did an off side roll, great job! The hand roll is not so much in your hands, its all about the hip snap. Again, remember to make sure your head is the LAST thing out of the water. It will be a little harder to do with the hand roll. A bow rescue is a whole different beast. When you are upside and in trouble, another boater will bump the side of your boat with the bow of their boat, you will then reach up, grab their boat and pull yourself up. Have you tried using goggles to protect your contacts? Some people use them and it has helped. I never could, but nose plugs were always a must have for me. NC - would that be the Nantahala? Cold, cold river!!! But so much fun! I will do a little checking on some rivers in your area and will get back to you. 7. I was a class V white water rodeo Kayaker for 7 yrs. I have paddled twice since I started skydiving (year & 1/2 ago). I hurt myself in a competion and took up skydiving while I was healing. Unfortunatly they are both "weekend" kind of hobbies, unless you live close to a river and can go after work and on lunch breaks like I did. Or you live near a weekday DZ. Or you could always split the weekend, one day paddling, next day jumping. The most important part of Kayaking, besides mastering the 3 kinds of rolls (eskimo roll, hand roll and emergency roll), is getting a GOOD fit in your boat. Do you have your own boat yet? When I say a good fit, I mean that the boat should feel like it IS the lower half of your body. Ok, well that applies if you are in a "playboat", not sure about the other boats... I went right for the hard stuff . Both sports are a rush and are lots of fun. Feel free to ask me any questions you would like. 8. Nice to see everyone was smiling, still in the boat and paddling. Damn, I wish I had sucked it up and gone with you guys. School shopping took me all of an hour & a half . Great pics. I miss that river, it's cold but FUN!! Did ya see any carnage? Munched Kayakers? Peeps tossed from their rafts? Hehehe, that's my favorite part ...... mmmmm, carnage. I know, I'm a sick, twisted person, but it's so much fun!!! Next time a sunrise steals your breath or a meadow of flowers leaves you speechless, remain that way. 9. I knew I should've just thrown my Kayak in the Jeep & headed up there yesterday! I told you guys that water was COLDDDDDD, 47 degrees year round! That's why I wear dry gear . Out of my several hundreds of runs down that river, I only made the mistake of running it once (ok, twice ) without my dry gear............... I was blue by the time I was done playing. . (Keep in mind I spend ALOT of time rolling around in/under the water) Glad everyone had fun, but there is one burning question in my mind............. who ended up IN the river? Anybody, anybody? Ooohhh, another question, did Spence ride the Ducky (sit on top kayak)? If so, did he dump it ? See you guys this coming weekend. Blues! 11. Ditto! I absofreakinglutly cannot stomach the catty, bitchy, high school bullshit, backbiting and gossip!!! I'll think I'll shut my office door and mind my own damn business, like that's different than any other day. Never stopped the bitches before! 12. Actually in Georgia 1-800-skydive was the # to Skydive Monroe. However, I just called it and now get some strange message directing me to 1800skydive.com. Hmmmm............. lets see where that takes me............... Interesting. It takes me to a map of the US. If you click on Ga, it takes you to Monroes site and tells you that it is now closed, but click anywhere else and guess who you get.................SKYRIDE/ASC. (ok, I clicked around a bit and can get to some legit DZs, but it is still disturbing) I wondered how long it would take them to get their mits on it. 13. Not ill fitting, just newbie mistakes. I was tightening the leg straps 1st, then chest strap. If I do it the other way around.... no problems. 14. Interesting. I was at Dublin this year and was having trouble with my leg straps sliding down to my knees, soooo............... I tightened them...ALOT. The result....... the second I landed I thought I was going to pass out, seeing spots, world was spinning and I was nauseous for about 2 1/2 hrs. Scared the crap outta me! After talking to my DZs S&TA and a few AFF Is, I was informed that my legstraps were too tight. I have accidentally tightened them down too tight one other time with the same result. Now, I just don't do that anymore. Thanks for the link to your thread on the subject. Most people look at me like I'm a idiot when I tell them about what happened.
