By the looks of the plane I'm sure it was a helluva ride...Glad to hear everyone's ok. Lippy "It's not a real sport unless you can die from massive internal trauma"

I wish I lived in Edmonton. It was a 4 hour drive to get those jumps in. It's not a real sport unless you can die from massive internal trauma.

After 4 months of sitting on the ground, staring at the sky, I finally got some jumps in the past weekend. It was only 2 jumps, and they weren't the best I've done, but ohhh shit I needed that!!! Thanks so much to everybody from Edmonton Skydive Centre for an awsome weekend Lippy It's not a real sport unless you can die from massive internal trauma.

It's the past four months when I've been grounded cause it's too f*@kin cold to jump. Hopefully the DZ will get goin somtime soon, if not I'm gonna go mental...not that I have that far to go. Live to Jump, Pull to Live Lippy

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the landing area, meaning that there aren't any desirable places to land in the vicinity, other than the main landing area, so make sure you hit it. Live to Jump, Pull to Live, Lippy

92 jumps and no chops yet, but I once fixed a slider hang up that put me at 1200 by the time I got it down and all cells inflated. The DZO didn't like that one on his student gear. Live to Jump, Pull to Live, Lippy

Being one poor bastard, I've yet to jump my own gear and have done 92 skydives, almost all of which on Mantas and Skymasters. One thing I picked up is that if you flare the canopy up high, it will take enough pressure off of the front risers that you can really haul 'em down. You'll get a faster turn, but it's a real bitch to hold it down that far. Hope this helps, and remember to keep it high. Live to Jump, Pull to Live, Lippy

What the F%@K you talking about?!?!?

It'll be 3 weeks tomorrow since I quit, and it was all of the posts in here about quitting that made me decide to finally do it. Also the fact that pretty soon smokes are going to be over $8 a pack in Alberta, but I learned that a week after I stopped. Now it's just all the more motivation to keep off of them. Not to be ignorant, but what's a decelerator? Just a different type of reserve, or something else all together? Live to Jump, Pull to Live, Lippy

Hey Y'all, I just ordered myself a Reflex, and it is exactly what I want, except for the lack of a collapsable PC. I'm putting a Sabre 170 in it, and although I like to play under canopy, I won't be doing anything crazy for at least another 100 jumps or so on it. Is there a significant difference in performance, or will I not even notice it. I've only jumped one other S170 and it was collapsable, and I've never jumped anything but a Manta without one. Any info appreciated, Live to Jump, Pull to Live, Lippy

Anybody watch the cartoon 'King of the Hill'. Last night I was reading program descriptions, and it said that Hank and Peggy hill were going skydiving, so I flicked it on. I don't know if its a season finale or what, but Peggy had dual total mals and burned in. WTF was that all about?! Live to Jump, Pull to Live, Lippy

Tee, A big congradulations, and your more than welcome to borrow my Sabre 170 anytime. Blue Skies, Lippy

And exactly what were you smoking before you had this dream?

Does anybody know of a good gear store where I can buy a used container? If so, please post it. The season starts in a couple weeks and I'm needin something bad, but none of the stores I called so far have what I'm looking for, and classifieds aren't looking any better. Blue Skies, Lippy

I had a student line of credit, and the line went straight to the manifest. Now I'm poor. But hey it's too cold to jump now, I'll think of somthing come March. Live to Jump, Pull to Live, Lippy

I gave up drugs, and subsequently all of my pot-smokin friends in school. I skipped my college graduation to spend the day at the DZ...It was a really, really nice day. Now I'm out of school, making decent money, and I still live on Kraft dinner and hot dogs and walk to work in freezing weather cause I'd rather buy a rig than a car right now. And I wouldn't have it any other way. Live to Jump, Pull to live, Lippy

I have the smaller reserve b/c I got the two canopies together, and that's what the seller had. If I had of thought of it more, and not just bought the first decent canopies for a decent price, I would have gotten two canopies that were closer together size-wise. Don't get me wrong, I'm completely confident in my ability to safely land a 143 in the event of a mal, but this container thing would be less of a head-ache. Obviously a J3 would be best considering the size of my main. I am just wondering if there would be any negative effects in having the reserve area sized for a reserve 17sq, ft larger than the reserve I have. Again, any info appreciated. Okay, I have a wee bit of a problem. I am piecing together my first rig, and I want a Javelin in there, but I don't know what size to go with. My main is a Sabre 170, and a PD 143R. There's gonna be a Cypress in there too. So do I get a J2 or a J3. I'd just ask my rigger, but he's on vacation, and the people at Sunpath havn't gotten back to me yet. I wanna order my container this week, so somebody who jumps these canopies with a Javelin, or would be able to give me an informed answer, please do. Live to Jump, Pull to Live Lippy

It's not enough to stop them from posting, let's take away their jump planes untill it's warm enough for all of us to jump, it'll be the only way to make it fair. Live to Jump, Pull to Live, Lippy

Okay, so it wasn't the best movie ever, but when you live in Alberta, and havn't done a F&$kin jump in 3 months, its better than nothing. I must have seen it 4 times since October, and will probably watch it a few more before March. I can't even watch my videos from my DZ cuz I don't have a VCR, so suddenly Cutaway just ain't that bad. Anybody seen Eraser lately? In this one scene, Arnie uses a chair to take out a jet engine, then chases a parachute out the door, goes head down to catch it, puts it on in freefall, pulls his cutaway handle to deploy his main, (a round with toggles) and then starts shooting the windshield of the plane he just left, which somehow caught up to him while he was head-down. Now that's cheesy Live to Jump, Pull to Live, Lippy

Howdy all. I was soooo very excited about my first parachute which I bought two days ago. I had originally gone over it with a rigger, and was pleased with the condition of the main. Then yesterday, as I was playing with my new toy at a friends place, I noticed a tear. In the right hand end cell's crossover port there's a split in the fabric, about 2 inches long. The canopy is a Sabre 170. Is this a big problem? There's a master rigger at my DZ, will he be able to fix this? Please give me some input, I don't know what to do. Live to Jump, Pull to Live, Lippy
