    cutting away

ok so I decided this weekend I am going to cut-away! I was planning to go to grad school, but I am going to now devote my life to skydiving. I plan to get as many ratings as I can this next season and my wife and I are going to head west! cant wait.. any tips from people who skydive full time would be great what do I need to do, know..etc. to make about 35-40k a year in jumping.. what are average rates for tandems/aff etc? wish me luck! -yoshi. -so far I have narrowed it down to texas arizona and utah to live (provided there are walgreens drug stores there since my wife is a pharmicist for them) any suggestions?? _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  4. Im the jack guy too.. although I did make onbe mistake on the choice forget the girls name, but I would have picked the biotch from will and grace but I picked the other.. ahh well -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  5. what scares me is that even though you thought he posted pic of himself you still looked at the post:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  6. I jump my tube (home made) and it is a hand held... when flying (since it is 18 feet long and about 20 inches in diameter) it slows me down a good bit. I would definately be proficient in sit and stand especially before dumping with it.. being unstable can obviously cause a handfull of new problems. anyways...I jump a 149 crossifre at like1.3 or so and simply dump with it in my left hand extended all the way out. (takes a little to stay stable with all the drag out there) and once I dump I keep it on the left side of my canopy thru the snivel and as my canopy opens more I push it behind me. hook it on my foot and tahdah! its all done. there is a guy I jump with that did his 1st tube jump with my tube (and a 79 vx) and had line twists with the tube wrapped in them. I told him to ditch it before dumping, but fortunately he wasnt spinning or anything and was able to pull it all out and get to the ground normal after that. anyways hope this helps someway. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

  9. my brother and I tried this last year.. we went out and I was piggy backin him. then once stable I pushed myself up to my knees and attempted to stand up. sice you are in the burble and doing speeds of a drougless tandem its pretty hard to stand up from that point, but I think its a pretty good way to go at it. let me know if you get it Id like to try again and any new tips would be nice:) laterz -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  10. Ive seen jump suits with "gills" on the m to slow you down... look pretty cool and seem functional.. might want to look into it (they are little pockets sewn into the ankle portion of the suit that catch air and sort of inflate the legs of the suit) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

  12. the elephant is the only MAMMAL that cant jump not animal...sorry Im bored too and heard that before:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  13. I learned that if I bump my camera helmet too hard in the plane it shuts off the camera and I miss the whole tandem dive. (SUCK!) and that dialing up my alti to get the quick shot of all altitudes for a tandem video can make the alti off more... ahh well theres always next week:) had fun none the less. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  14. rmsmith, well it was on the recall list for mandetory reline. I didnt have any substantial problems with it bucking or buffering in flight beforehand, but hey if the manufacturer says it needs done its done. when I got it back it flew much the same accept the front riser pressure was much harder...opened the same and all.. then while I was demoing a 119 my buddy jumped mine and blew the tail section out of the right end cell... he thought his leg strap was loose because of a turn when in full glide and since the tear was on the top skin he coulnt see it...landed with no problem then saw what he had done to my baby... I hav icarus repair it and now it flies the same with the exception of the soft openings...I am actually ROLLING THE NOSE ON MY CROSSFIRE! to get those 900 ft snivels I love so dearly:) anyways thats my story and I am sticking to it.. any other questions? -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  15. so last night I got home from work and my wife said " you have been working so hard andputting up with so much stress lets go out to dinner.." I said "sounds good" thinking what has gotten into her...then at dinner she says shouldnt you get ther new rig you have been wanting...I mean you do most the work in our household and I jsut think you should pay yourself back the favor.....now I am thinking either she did something wrong or wanted something...then on the way home she started to rub my leg seductively and asked in a gently voice "what do you want??? Ill let ytou do anything you want.... so....I dropped her off at her moms house for a week:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  16. I have a crossfire 1 loaded at approx 1.3...hard front riser pressure great flare and long glide...I have flown the crossfire 2 119 and 105 which are amazing...strongly suggest if that is within range and capability. light front riser pressure short toggle stroke fast turns long dive powerful flare but can be flown very conservitively also... the cf2 will be my next canopy...the 105 was fast for me loaded a little more than the reccomended sweetspot of 1.85, but the 119 was great. Ill prob get 116-117 to hit the sweet spot. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  17. simply puttin on the data card that it was repacked, but not actually doing it... not a wise choice in my book..I would rather have it taken out inspected and put back:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  18. lew monster has a frame drawn on her goggles...seems to work good since she gets some pretty nice footage. I think I am going to get a new lens for my sidewinder and put a mark on it... have fun everyone! -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

anyone see the new parachutist with the richmond boogie article?? I wrote it:) wish I had more pics published, but I guess once they get up to par they will be. laters -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  22. I jusmped the cobal..not cc but the crossfire 2 was much more desireable to me...soft openings (way soft) I lov snivels though...very fast turns and the toggle stroke is very similar to the cobalt...the recovery arc is very long....quite noticeable difference from the crossfire 1...flare is awesome and powerful till the last drop and the risers were arguably softer than the cobalt...I was hammering 360/360's up top with not too much of a striegn, and I am not the built very big... -yoshi -my 2 cents the crossfire 2 will be my next canopy even though I had the 1 and had to have it relined with the mod and my buddy blew it up... _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  23. I fly a sidewinder1 with a pc-1...I dont suggest a ring sight unless you are shooting stills..after a few jumps you will know where you are shooting and its one less hazard to worry about. you can always put a little dot on your goggles to know more where you are shooting. with the sidewinder there is a lense and I have been contimplating a sight, but if I did get one I am going to try to incorporate the lens itself or put the sight inside the lens...just remember that ringsights can get you better shots sometimes, but can get you into alot of trouble also... not to preach or anything, but I just dont want to see anyone else get hurt... especially when new to the video side (which I am also) I got a great deal on mine setup used, I prefer the sidemount...I have flown a couple top mounts and you have to be careful exiting (especially with a small door) not to catch it and knock your camera off on exit. what do you plan to do with it?? tandem video...freefly..aff..4way??? that could also help determine what kind of system you want. most freefliers wear sidemounts...I do tandem and aff and occasionally 4 way (mostly freefly though) and its working great for me....try to find something that is comfortable and that your can ditch in a hurry... well thats my 11 cents -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  24. hey mountain man! I use a .5 on mine and its great for freefly and tandem/ aff...I plan to get a .42 but if you go much smaller than that you have to make sure your camera is mounted forward enough to not get your head...goggles...helmet in the frame. the .5 makes a huge difference to me. I have a sony pc-1... cant wait to see you out there flyin vids!... -yosi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  25. well I jsut started video recently...the fact that tandem/aff students get to see someone in freefall is awesome for me...I love to watch new peoples faces and get to show them jsut how excited they were (since most hardly remember the freefall portion on thier first jump) mostly I freefly so getting to the ground and proving to others that my skill has been improving this year is a compliment to me....and most of all so I can show all of my non-skydiving friends just how awesome it is to fly your body...most non-skydivers that I have met never imagined what all you can do up there. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
